WDW Solo at Christmas

Has anyone done this? I'm looking for an escape from my small town and a lot of emotional angst on Dec. 23rd. So, I had the idea yesterday of a solo Disney trip.

Story in a nutshell -- divorced two years, ex (who is a celebrity of sorts in this small town) is finally marrying the skank on Dec. 23rd. Both of our sons have said they'd come home for the wedding. I just don't really want to be around. Son#1 could leave after the wedding and go to his in-laws, Son#2 could go to his girlfriend's family. Or they could stay here and let their Dad provide the first Christmas in five years.

What would you do? I know I'm going to feel miserable any way. I'm not dating any one, so that makes it worse (where are any nice 50 y.o. guys any way?) So, would it be better to be a Disneyworld and be lonely in a crowd or be home and be miserable?

Thanks,
Edie

I don't blame ou. I go away whenever I can so I don't have to be in the same town as my ex. (he married his shank). I'll be in WDW dec20th-24th (then I leave for on the wonder) I'll be back on the 28th-jan2.
I'll be with my 2 children (7 &10). You are welcome to hang out with us for meals and activities.

EdiePA...GO for it...any time you can be in the world is a good time...watch the magic in the kids eyes..it will melt those blues clean away!!!! DJ princess: :joker:

Edie, you need a reason to celebrate. going to WDW is a good one!!!

go have a great time - heck I would consider moving.... :thumbsup2

I would think it would hard to let go of the pass when my ex is a celebrity - how do you forget or forgive that....

go have a great time. :cheer2: :dance3:

Hi Edie,

I agree with everyone here. You'll be happier in WDW solo than at home, so go. Your ex may have married a "skank", and it looks as if ValDisney's ex married a golf shot (sorry Val, but that was the first image that came to mind!). Their choices. Doesn't mean you have to stay home.

I actually did this last Christmas. Two weeks before Christmas, I decided I didn't want to deal with family so left on Friday night, the 23rd and came home on the 26th.

I had a great time! My brother still doesn't know I went to FL for the weekend. He thinks I went to Wisconsin!
