WDW sent me 2 vouchers for free deluxe rooms!!

This just goes to show if something happens at the resort and is not taken care of to your satisfaction....let WDW know!:)

During the Memorial Day weekend, we started out our WDW vacation at The Yacht Club. This was my parent's first time here and we were so excited to be there.:goodvibes

Check in was H-E-L-L, but that didn't bother us because it was one of the most crowded times of the year. My hubby and I get to our room (we were even up-graded to a water view) and it was gorgeous.....then we get to the patio....:eek: There were hundreds and HUNDREDS of cigarette butts in the pea gravel and trash everywhere!!! It didn't help that my four year old son and his friend kept trying to pick up the butts. There was even a rusty tack on the patio. Another DISer met me at the hotel and she was shocked and immediately took pictures to post on the non-smoking thread on the CB.:lmao: I called housekeeping to clean the patio later.....

I called my parents on the cell to find out how they fared....not well.:eek: My oldest son was staying in their room and they checked in about 10:00 that morning. They were taken to a King room (just one King bed)...nope, that won't work with 3 people (DS is 13). They went back to the front desk and were told no problem, they would have a new room within the hour. Three hours later, they were shown to another King room.:confused: Went BACK down to the front desk and waited for another room....you guessed it, 2 hours later they were given another King room....:eek: :lmao:

FINALLY they put my parents and my son in a room with two queen beds....but it hadn't been cleaned!!:eek: By this time my Dad was too pissed to care and just stayed there.

I called the front desk and spoke to a manager, I explained the situation with BOTH of our rooms and told her I just wanted to let her know that either situation just wasn't acceptable for the standards of the YC in my opinion. She agreed and told me not to worry, she would make sure we had a magical vacation.

Well, my patio was never cleaned and my parents never got so much as an apology for the nasty room they were put in. It certainly didn't ruin our vacation (we went on to have a magical stay at the Poly and GF) but I wanted to send an email when I got back home.

I sent the email detailing what happened. I told them I did not expect any compensation but felt that they should be aware of what happened and make sure it did not happen again.

I was pleasantly surprised when I was contacted by WDW about a month later and offered the free room vouchers for ANY deluxe resort! They compensated me for my parent's room and mine. I was blown away, I never expected anything of that nature and it was greatly appreciated! We have booked our Polynesian getaway for November and it will be beyond magical.

While I am sorry to hear about your lack of service while at the YC, I am so glad to hear that some customer service is still out there. I am glad that you did not let it damper your vacation. Too many times others will let the beginning of their trip ruin the rest of their trip.

Kudos to WDW for owning up to their mistakes and taking care of your family.
 
I am the friend, and my son is TM2's son's friend. It really was kinda disgusting....cig butts, the rusty tack that the kids found, and various other garbage. There were as many cig butts as there were stones. Personally, I was a little more disgusted at the guests who would do that to the gorgeous patio area than I was with the resort staff. I will admit, we freaked a bit when our kids picked the rusty tack, I'd be put off finding that on my patio at a $30/night offsite resort.

Oh yuck! That would turn my stomach so bad. I'm happy they are comping you for a future stay...have a wonderful time!
 

I'm really glad you emailed them about the difficulties. So many people just complain on here and never inform the the management. Hope your next visit will be much better. I'm glad Disney did something for you!
 
I have seen worse, believe me some guests are simply slobs.

And people wonder why more places are going smoke-free!!!

Obviously I realize there will be designated smoking areas, but far easier for the resort and housekeeping/maintenance to take care of specific areas.

It just amazes me how people can treat any property, even if it is not their own, with such disrespect.
 
Even though the problem should have been taken care of during your stay, I am glad they at least addressed it later. Better late than never. ;)
 
:confused3 Was your room non-smoking?If so,kinda makes you wonder if these smokers who left their butts everywhere ever smoked in the room??Did your room smell like:thumbsup2 smoke?I am so glad Disney has gone smoke free!!

Yes, we did have a non-smoking room and no, amazingly enough - the room did not smell like smoke. It just amazes me that people are such pigs, I can't believe they would do that to that lovely resort.:sad2:

Oh no, we did not have a bad time at all, quite the contrary! Stormalong Bay was wonderful and we were at WDW!!:) We just felt for the price we were paying that the state of that patio was disgraceful (honestly, that patio was disgraceful no matter how little you were paying for a room). I certainly hope that the patio has been cleaned up and all butts gone.:) I can also understand my parents getting put in a King room 1 time by mistake....but *3*?!:scared: LOL, it is amusing now but it wasn't that day!;)
 
You know, looking closely at those pictures (and this is NOT meant to appease anyone) and considering the lack of smoke odor in the OP's room... I wouldn't be surprised in the least if those cigarette butts were ignorantly and dangerously discarded from rooms on upper floors (there's a canvas canopy over the entrance to my apartment building with numerous holes from lit cigarettes tenants have thrown out the window).

Well, I agree about the butts, unacceptable :mad:

You know, it's funny, we decided to transfer ourselves to the Yacht Club (a bit of a fee though...$1000 :rotfl: :eek:) after we had a bad experience the first night of our trip at a different resort :scared1:
 
People are pigs! Ugh. I can't imagine making such a mess of Disney, one of my favorite places in the world. Some people are just gross.

I'm glad Disney responded so well to you. This is one of the reasons I love and trust Disney for my family's vacations.

Had you planned on a split stay to the poly and GF, or did you end up leaving because of what happened at YC?
 
that is awful.....I am a "light" smoker..if you can be one....I would never do that to a place...I go out of my way to make sure I do not bother others when I smoke ...and I most definetly would not have put such a mess on the patio of a room....

I understand completely why places go smoke free because of actions like that....

We had already planned our stays at the Polynesian (me, hubby and the kids) and the GF(my parents). We only stayed at the YC for a couple of days, just for the sole enjoyment of SAB.;)

I went on the Walt Disney World website and there is a place you can click that says "contact us". I just sent the email from there. I made sure to include our room numbers, the name of the manager that I talked to while I was there, the days we were there and our reservation numbers.:)
