If you could design a new ride or theme an old ride at WDW what would you do?

This question follows a conversation with my partner discussing the lack of a jungle book themed ride!!

we decided that splash mountain would be good with a jungle book theme....or a totally new ride like a river rapids would also be good

Just thought people would like to use their imaginations today....... :wizard:

the last thing the MK needs is re-theming of a brilliantly themed ride like Splash Mountain....let's leave well enough alone...

i'd like them to bring back the Diamond Horseshoe Review, the Melvin the Moose Breakfast, the Lion King (the one that was replaced by Mickey's Philharmagic -- though i'd like to leave the Philharmagic....the lion king can go into a different spot).....
i loved Mickey's Birthdayland, but i don't know where they'd put it.....

they could bring over Alice in Wonderland from Disneyland.....and the Circus train.....and the storybook village....(disneyland really is prettier than the MK.....).....oh and rebuild Pirates so that it's like the one in Disneyland, not the poor copy they have in WDW....

what else....

moving to MGM, bring back Hunchback of Notre Dame....and Dave -- i think that's what it was called (or replace them both with something rather than leaving the buildings empty)...
and replace the Drew Carey Sounds Dangerous with the Martin Short version where people were picked out to do the Foley effects.....
and of course, bring back the animators to Animation (maybe now that Eisner's gone that will happen....)

and at AK, keep Tarzan....

let's see....i left out Epcot....bring back the second floor of Imagination.....where the imageworks were really fun.....and the original Jouney into the Imagination.....

Bring back the wonders of life....that was really a nice pavilion....
i guess it's too late to bring back Horizons and World of Motion

add some new countries into world showcase....

just for starters....

Shell - I like the idea of Splash Mountain with a Jungle Book theme :) I am not keen on SM.

I will have a think now ..... ;)

Wash your mouth out Kaylee ;) !!!!!!! Not keen on Splash?????????!!!!! I need to lie down in a darkened room to recover!!

It is such a fave of ours - can you not have the Jungle Cruise splash mountain ride in addition? Now that would be good!! Maybe the Jungle Cruise White Water Falls? (A real and BETTER version of the virtual thingy in DQ?)

I'd like to see two imaginative rides based on Hercules and instead of, or in addition to, the Magic Carpet attraction, an indoor ride based on Aladdin - it doesn't have to be white knuckle, but perhaps a dark ride through the cave.

I just wish they'd renovate Carousel Of Progress - whilt they are opening it on a limited basis, it really is neglected and needing attention. Couldn't they give it some TLC to keep alive an original by Walt?

I would love to see a really nice Children's playgound , indoor with slides and ball pools and outdoor with water features etc

There used to be and probably still is an outdoor one at Sea World, 'Shamu's happy harbor'?

I know these are not like themed thrill rides but I really like to see Joshua have a brilliant time, not that bothered about rides for me.

What a cool thread.
Some great ideas.

I like the idea where they should re-make Jungle Cruise, and make it the Jungle Book Cruise and make it better and with a Jungle Book theme.

And keep Tarzan - me and DH loved Tarzan!!

We had more fun than all the kids around us did! :rotfl:

they've added the pooh playground area in fantasyland, but it's tiny and meant for kids aged 2 to 5, so it's too little for Joshua....
actually now that i think about it, that's another nice thing that they have in California....at DCA....a really cool playground....a big one....with huge climbing things.....big enough for adults....

wow.....and Splash Mountain is our favorite ride in all of WDW.....
we love the ride and adore the theme......
at the end of the ride, just after the showboat, we always clap along and sing ......we'd probably annoy you to death......we love the song of the south theme and we love that song....
perhaps it's a cultural thing...

and one more change.....bring back alien and get rid of stitch ...

Can I just say I wasn't saying that I disliked Splash mountain!!!

Just was having a general conversation that led to some silly ideas!!!!

I love splash mountain...but isn't it fun to imagine what it might have been like had the designers not themed it as brer rabbit? :scratchin

I love all that kind of stuff and wouldn't want to change it but also love dreaming up new ideas and what if's!!!

keep the ideas coming people I love reading all of them!!!! :teeth:

Tink.....cool idea :)

Shell...I don't like SM...but then if we all liked the same things what a boring world it would be ;) This is a great thread...perhaps you should send it to Disney when we are done :teeth:

Thanks! :sunny:

Do you think Disney would pay us for our cool ride ideas??? :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I came up with a Harry Potter ride one night when I couldn't sleep. It's rather confusing to describe so bare with me. It's a high speed roller coaster in the dark, probably most suited to MGM Studios and similar in design to Rock N Roller Coaster in some ways. The theme is that you are playing Quidditch and you are the seeker, above the coaster track is another track which curves exactly with the coaster track keeping a Golden Snitch just in front of the car. For the first half of the ride you chase the snitch around doing some loops and spirals trying to catch it. All of a sudden, at the top of a hill, the car stops and you see the snitch freeze over with ice and drop straight down below you. The car is begins to snowly rotate onto an unseen second track as it's being surrounded by cold smoke and you see the shapes of dementors closing in on you through the fog. Without warning, the dementors swoop down on you and the car drops backwards very fast down a steep hill, coming to rest so you can get off.

They should build a Disney museum for all us disney geeks and lovers of retro disney stuff!

There could be a costume trying on area, old props, a movie theatre showing some of the now cancelled shows and parades, old rides in model form etc etc

it would be great and would mean that the memories are kept alive!

perhaps located in epcot?? :confused3

the theme is the Song of the South.....
no doubt way way way way way before your time....but in my time (or just a wee bit before)....
it's a disney classic.....
although what with all the silly PC nonsense at WDW (like the re-naming of Dixie Landings) it's surprising they haven't done away with the Song of the South theme for SM.....

and so....a little music maestro:

zipadeedoodah....zipadee-ay
my oh my what a wonderful day....

plenty of sunshine heading my way....
zipadeedoodah....zipadee-ay

oh mr. bluebird on my shoulder...
it's the truth....it's actual...
everything is satisfactual...

zipadeedoodah....zipadee-ay
wonderful feeling... wonderful day....

hmmmmm......you got me started....now i'm going to be singing that all night...

I do know the song and the ride wouldn't be the same without it!!!

did you read my last post about the disney museum? perfect place for some dixie landings memorabilia

p.s what is/was dixie landings exactly?

Dixie Landings was the name of the Port Orleans Riverside (POR) resort before the PC'ers got hold of it and changed it to POR........
when dixie landings was called dixie landings, Port Orleans French Quarter was called plain old Port Orleans...

the PC nutcases decided that calling something Dixie Landings was racist and reminiscent of the bad old days of the south....

maestro if you will:

Oh I wish I was in the land of cotton
Old times there are not forgotten
Look away, look away, look away Dixie Land

In Dixie Land, where I was born in
early on one frosty mornin
Look away, look away, look away Dixie Land

I wish I was in Dixie...hooray....hooray....
In Dixie Land I’ll take my stand
to live and die in Dixie.....
Away, a-way, away down south in Dixie.....
Away, a-way, away down south in Dixie ...

ok....so i'm going to sing that one for the rest of the night....

Lets get back to the thread subject? So far we've only talked about what we'd like to either rehash or revive?

Here's my 10c - whilst I'm not a big fan of the film, always wondered if they could do a "hanging style" rollercoaster themed on the doors room that features towards the end of Monsters Inc.... Fast, exciting, changing direction.... ::MickeyMo

I agree Johnny - we spent hours there last trip! I know Disney has a couple of wet play areas and the new 'Pooh Playground' but the beauty of the Sea World one is that it is all in one area with refreshments and seating (tables as well as chairs!) I am afraid my imaginaton can't come up with a theme for this!

I'm not one for 'big rides' but the idea of the Monster's Inc Doorcoaster sounded cool.
