WDW reservations across both types (Disney and DVDC) continue to be down.

I find it ironic since the FP+ changes earlier in the week, they have had nothing but problems with their systems.

Like good IT people, they could have fixed one thing and broke two others.

Any connections?

This is a scheduled update that was to take place on 06/092018. Looks like update did not go as smooth as they were hoping for. They hope to have system back up tonight but could be as late as Monday.

Yup - they crashed the system again :). In all fairness, the whole thing is so overly complicated that I'm not surprised :). If you code? Do a "view source" once in a while.... and run, screaming, at what you see :). Were I part of "Change Control"? I wouldn't let anyone touch ANYTHING without a 7 day downtime window :).

I don't know how Disney works, but major updates for interrelated systems are usually done as one big event, and this was likely one of those events. If linking ticket media usage to stays and fastpasses wasn't part of this outtage, then shame on Disney for scheduling two major releases so close to each other.

Serves them right for outsourcing all their IT. This is what happens. I hope all the lost revenue from the system being down is greater than the savings from firing all their employees. You get what you pay for.

I had posted on another thread regarding the maintenance that is scheduled for 6/13. This is still scheduled. The notice from yesterday was a maintenance that was not scheduled to the last minute (which now continues). That tells us that something unexpectedly crashed and they have yet been unable to repair the damage.

You were right - all indications are that they did a roll back. No more warnings 6-11-2017, NO 2018 data.

This is actually POSITIVE - it's what a responsible business would do, having encountered a failed update - ROLL BACK TO LAST GOOD STATE.

If they would have done a roll back, you'd be able to book a room right now. You can't.

We are trying to tweak our Dec dates, so I search several combinations of dates a couple times per day. Thursday there were a few things coming up but less than half what was available before the June 6th 'update'. Yesterday was hit or miss. Today, back to nothing at all.

I'd love to think they are sweating this, but like ticket price increases, they know people will come anyway.

Well those are two completely different things...Price increases aren't a mistake. I'm sure there's some mid-level manager who's annoyed that they are losing X% of bookings due to this.

What other choice do they have? Guest wants to go to Disney, guest wants a Disney resort, guest has to wait to book. Guest has no other option.
Sure, some may opt to just book off site but not many will do that. They'll wait because they want on site. Booking off site won't work, so it's not like they will take their business elsewhere.
So while I'm sure someone is sweating this outage, it's not going to hurt them drastically in the end. Those bookings are there waiting for things to come back online

Dead right - worse than I thought. Rollback failed. Again, we used to FIRE Project Managers in my company that could not execute proper Change Control.

For others? One day in 1968, I drove a car down a 1 way street in Salinas, CA. The end of the street was closed, due to construction :).
This is a great analogy for a bad IT "upgrade".... change the landscape with no working retreat mechanism :).
(oh - I broke the law and got the Hell out, or I would not be typing this :))

Err ... maybe we should shut down this discussion. We don't want to encourage people to violate traffic laws.

:firefight :jester: :yay: :bored:

But seriously ... a FP+ crackdown turns into an IT meltdown? Ouch.

If that's what happened and they're not asking themselves, "Hey tell me again why did we want this ride r______ing system so badly?" then they better start looking for a new CIO, CTO, COO, CFO and CEO right about ... now.

Yep, people will wait for it to come online, then book. No real losses for Disney.

Is it up yet?

It was up this morning but very glitchy. We were making restaurant reservations for our December trip. The first one the credit card was denied. We called the credit card company as we knew the card was good. Visa told us that they are receiving hundreds of calls about Disney denying credit cards. We retried it and the card was approved but someone had taken the last reservation. We spent an hour making 6 reservations, having to try several times each time to get through all the glitches. We are at 6 months out and still had two restaurants with nothing available for the entire 6 days for our trip. The web site was being hammered as response time was very slow.

The fact that you were able to make any ADRs at 11 months out is a glitch. You should not have that ability until 180 days out with a resort reservation.
