We were up at 6:30 in the morning, and grabbed something to drink on our way to MGM. We drove to the park this day, and arrived at 8:20, as we had heard that there had been bottle necks at security. We found none! After going through security, DH went to get in line, while I traded in our comp ticket for a one day hopper.
At 8:40, they started letting us in the front gate... no pre opening show anymore, with the Toy Green Soldiers on the rooftops... I missed that. We got as far as Sunset Blvd, where it was roped off. We stood there waiting, and talking with other guests until the rope dropped. When it did, we made a beeline to Rock n Rollercoaster, and were on the very 1st train out of the station for the day! We were in the back seat...but that was actually pretty cool. When we exited, we got FP's and then rode Tower of Terror.
We had some time before we were to come back to ride RnR, so we saw the 1st show of WWTBAM-PI. The host was very good, and we had a great time. It was time to ride RnR again, so we headed there and rode again... I love that ride!!! Grabbed a FP for ToT and then did a little shopping on Sunset Blvd before our 11:30 PS at Brown Derby.
AHHH, Brown Derby. We had never eaten there before, and I had heard rave reviews about the Cobb Salad (which is, BTW, back on the regular menu). We were the 1st people seated, and had a terrific waiter. I will talk all about our meal on the restaurant boards... but it was FANTASTIC!!! I think we have found another favorite restaurant!
After eating, and a little more shopping, we rode ToT again... I love that ride, too!!
We then went to the 100 Years of Magic exhibition, which I thought was very well done, however, it had a tendency to bottle neck at certain points. It was cold, cloudy and damp that day, and it was so warm in there, when we got to the theatre show, at the end, we just about fell asleep!
We saw a hilarious improv group on Hollywood Blvd, and watched their show. As we had early PS for dinner elsewhere, so we regretably didn't see the Stars and Motorcars parade, as it didn't start until after 4 pm
Back in the parking lot, the real adventure began! Trying to find the car! We were in the Television section, but the rows are not numbered (what is up with that?!), and we wandered through looking for about 30 minutes. After that, we decided to tie a neon hot pink streamer from the antenna. Tacky, but distinguishing!
We went over to Boardwalk to explore for awhile...what a beautiful resort!!! We entered through the International Gateway to Epcot, for our PS at Le Cellier. Another culinary delight! We had a fantastic server from Canada, named Elaine...with a terrific sense of humor. The food was delicious, and we loved the cozy atmosphere!
Back to the Contemporary, to change clothes, and it was time to walk to MK for E ticket night. We were able to watch the fireworks during our walk over there! Once there, we exchanged our tickets for wristbands, and headed over to Adventureland to ride Aladdin, but it was already closed, so we rode Pirates of the Caribbean... no line, whatsoever!
Since it was only 32 degrees outside with a windchill of 23, we decided that Splash Mountain was probably NOT a good idea! We had on about 4 layers of clothes, and were virtually waddling around the park!
We rode BTMRR 3 times in a row, which was so much fun!!! Never did manage to get in that front seat, though!
Haunted Mansion was next, which is always a highlight! I always seem to notice more everytime that I ride. No line to speak of there, either!
In Tomorrowland, TimeKeeper was open, instead of TTA, which was fine by me, because I love TimeKeeper, and haven't seen it since 1998! We skipped Alien Encounter... I don't like it, but I offered to wait for DH while he did it, but he didn't. There was only a 5 minute wait for Buzz, so DH and I each had our own cars. I don't know how I did it, but I got 100,000 more points than he did!
Rode on Space Mountain...this was the last ride of the night for us, as we were getting pretty tired! I don't know what they did to this ride on the last rehab, but it hasn't been that smooth or fun in many, many years!!!
We took the monorail back to the Contemporary, and collapsed in exhaustion!!! It had been a great day!
I think it was more exhausting for me with it being cold than it has ever been in 90+ degree heat...thank goodness Friday was supposed to be warmer!!!
