We have WDW booked and universal and discovery cove ( paid pre pandemic )
Looking at numbers would anyone think of DL instead ? My air would be about the same. My WDW ticket money would stay in holding , I could rent my DVC nights really don’t want to but prob get okay money ..
anyone else of thinking switching their FL vacation to Cali ?
I probably would lose Discovery Cove
$ because last time I rebooked they seemed less than willing as they explained they had been open for awhile etc I don’t know they would be willing to rebook again .

I think to me it’s probably one in the same currently. I would watch a little longer and see what happens. This is an excellent graphic from NPR where you can look at transmission rates. Currently the counties that Disneyland and Disney World are in both have high transmission. Though Florida is much worse numbers wise.

It is impossible to say what numbers are going to be like by then. Trend lines suggest that cases should be way down by then but who knows.

We've got WDW and Universal booked for the beginning of December and are cautiously optimistic.

I think and I prob should have added we have two travel banks to be used so we are also looking at Cali as more relaxing ( couple beach days etc ) than WDW at Xmas. And going to WDW at a quieter time .
I don’t know ha ha just looking at all options.
just seems like California takes covid a lot more seriously. ( huge understatement )

Never been to California, but I was considering the same thing! My issue would be flights are longer and kiddos anxiety might make that more difficult. My other option is to do more of a resort stay, with less time in parks, but I worry someone would get bored, or do an AI somewhere instead.

Big kid and I went on a mom-big kid trip and loved it. So laid back compared to WDW and all new to us.. seriously debating do a week there and maybe May to Fl ( flights are paid and DVC )

That was certainly true in 2020. For better or worse, to me it also means that California would be far more likely to reinstate restrictions and even shut theme-parks down again if the numbers warrant it. Not sure if that would influence your decision. With the way things are going there we've just decided against going south at all for 2021. :wave2:

I hate that I feel obligated to use my travel banks . Just sucks as a single mom I busted my butt working two jobs for those airfares to just let them expire .. sigh

Is it WestJet? If so, if you book something with your credits and cancel it, the clock starts over on the expiration. And really, when Covid-related credits start to expire unused, I'm sure they will be extended.

One westjet and one JetBlue . Half of JetBlue now expires in July the other half sept and I have no idea why.. that’s yet another call sigh

We made the switch today. Granted we are supposed to leave though this Thursday on the 19th. We have been watching things for weeks, and with the covid numbers just continuously rising, our daughter being in the ICU, then Tropical storm Fred and now Hurricane Grace, I thought the universe is really trying to tell us don't go to Florida. I thought this morning if we are still going to go, with a potential hurricane hitting the same day we arrive, what will the universe do next to keep us off that plane. We kept on telling ourselves it's going to get better, but it just hasn't. We've never done California so now we in a mad dash trying to learn all we can as we cancel and make new bookings and plans. Our place on the Gulf coast will just have to wait a little longer. We made it this far, what's a couple of more months?

Agree. So much is up in the air.. always with covid and protocols and whether litters quarantine or not , heck whether I even put them in school or not is up in the air? I figure Cali would be a shorter duration and more relaxed than 7 days at Disney and 3 at universal plus squishing in Discovery cove may simply be too much right now

In my experience, California isn't usually "beach" warm in the winter, unless you're just talking about going for a walk on the beach fully clothed. It can be nice during the days though (like, no jacket required), and it cools down quite a bit in the evenings.

Yes . Aware thank you so much . Just thinking more relaxed ..

Too cold for the beach then. It’s fun doing the Hollywood tours though, and Universal too…
