Well I just got back from my first trip to WDW! Hubby and I took our 3 kids and niece with us and we were scared! We heard horror stories on how expensive Disney can be but with a lot of research we found a way around that! Check this out:
I purchased all my park hopper passes on ebay 6 people/ 3 days worth of PH's = $596
I also purchased 3 nights at OKW (1 bdrm Villa) from a friend of a friend for (sit down) $280
We flew SW airlines 6 people round trip for $774
We took cereal, juice boxes, fruit snacks, PB, crackers... with us $88
We took those snacks with us in fanny packs along with a water bottle for everyone to the parks with little to no aggrevation. We have the water bottles with the adjustable straps so we could carry them over our shoulders or strap to the fanny packs.
We did eat lunch 2 days at the parks ($100 total) but we bought no pop or junk food there so that was the total we spent at the parks!
We ate the rest of our meals at our villa and did purchase a few necessities at the store there - they don't price gouge at all $42
We paid $40 each way for the taxi to take us from airport to OKW - $80
Hubby and I had a few Pina Coladas at OKW $40
TOTAL COST for the 6 of us at Old Key West Resort for 3 nights/4 days, our airfare, taxis, food, park tickets... EVERYTHING an even $2000!
We had the TIME of our LIVES and didn't feel cheated at all because we didn't bring thousands to spend! I thought we would feel that way doing Disney with very little money but it was just so fun and everyone treated us like royalty! I'm hooked and now I'm spoiled with the luxury resorts! I'm going to start saving now for our vacation next year just in case it doesn't work out the same way. By the way, I planned this whole trip in a month!
:)

It is a hot topic on the DVC boards pertaining to puttting more then the max.4 in a 1 bdrm.

I was wondering were all these kids young? (which is my own argument for allowing extra people(kids) in a one bdrm)

If not were you aware of the 4 person max of the 1 bdrm?

Good for You!! Sounds like you saved yourselves a good sum of money.
My question is...were you hesitant to purchase your tickets off of Ebay? I have been looking at the tickets for sale on Ebay but haven't commited to bidding yet.

Glad you had a great trip!

How did they let you have 6 in a 1 BR? Did they know how many were staying? Did you have 2 under age 3? As members of DVC, we are told we can only have 4 in this size room. They will allow a 5th if it is a child under 3. :(
