i'd like to know.....
if anyone has noticed Disney's movies lately?? they all seem to be a theme (animal?) so they will fit in the parks somewhere?? has anyone else had this thought?? the thread below titled "WDW not what it used to be" got me thinking about this theory.....

I don't know, most animated movies out lately don't seem to have much, beyond maybe some characters out for pictures; Home on the Range, Teachers Pet, Treasure Planet, Atlantis, The Emperor's New Groove, Brother Bear.

None of these have rides or attractions for them, and I don't think any of the characters are seen much, if at all.

They've been doing very well with the live action movies, lately. "Miracle" was a Disney movie (the one about the 1980 US Olympic hockey team) and "Pirates of the Caribbean" we're both great movies, and POTC was a huge hit besides.

The animated films have gotten short shift from the public and reviewers, I think. Emporer's New Grove was histerical, and Treasure Planet is one of my fav Disney movies, ever!

All movies studios go through streaks of hits and lulls, not just Disney. And this has happened to Disney before. The 80's were rather bad for Disney, especialy the animation division. Little Mermaid was really what turned it around, then they had Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Lion King all in a row that were all huge hits and great movies besides. Then they lost a lot of their best animators and creative people when Dreamworks started up, and it's taken them a while to recover.

Never fear! Disney will have a hot streak again!

it will be a long time before rides become available for the movies recently out....i am thinking long term.....something from the movies to incorporate into the parks down the road....

It doesn't really make any sense for Disney to construct its animated movies with an eye toward the theme parks. A film needs to stand on its own before it's even worthy of being leveraged as a theme park attraction.

Of the four major attractions currently under constructions, only one (Stitch's Encounter) is themed for a Disney film. Basing an attraction on a film does add an element of synergy, but I think it will be a long time before we see any attraction dedicated to Home on the Range or Treasure Planet.

Actually quite the opposite. Disney is incorporating their rides into the movies. I thought the funniest part of Home On the Range was the little tribute to the Tower of Terror. LOL! When they were all in the mining cart, and being dropped up and down! LOL, the screaming is what you hear standing outside the ToT.
