I was just looking for other people going that week, since my husband booked the trip without knowing about the Happiest Celebration On Earth... I feel ripped off! (But still super-excited to go!!) What does everyone else think? ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

HI! We will be there as well. It is ds's 1st bday, so we are going to celebrate his bday! I am hoping crowds are not tooooo terribly bad! We have been at Thanksgiving before, so hopefully it won't be that crowded! Will you be wearing your lime green ribbon?!?!?!

We'll be there May 3 - 10th.
Not too worried about the celebration crowds :flower:

We'll be there the 7th - 14th. The celebration is going on for 18 months - and I didn't even know about it until I found this board - so I'm thinking it will be fine

Geez, looks like I'm the only poor sucker who will miss it, it starts on the 5th. I don't know about the lime green ribbon, I just joined the dis community. I know we'll all have a great time though! I'm just a bit upset over the new pal mickey, it is supposed to come out on the 5th, and I was really looking forward to getting one, but there's no point spending $60 on something when there's going to be a better version out two days later! I'll also be missing the magical express to and from the airport, which would save a good deal of money for us. Other than that, I don't think we'll mind... I mean, we are GOING TO WALT DISNEY WORLD!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Well the good news about the dates you are going is that you should be able to see the decorated gold castle and any other extras they have, but still miss the crowds on the 5th, if there are any.

We'll be there then too, and I don't feel ripped off.

More excited than anything...

Have a great trip!

BY THE WAY, is it any lime green ribbon?

Hi there...We'll be there from april 30 to may 5 then 5-8 on the cruise. I'm hoping the crowds don't pick up til the 5th and they have soft openings before. We booked ours well before we knew and there is no changing now...i can't wait to get to the world. Ryan 840 where are you staying?

We will be there April 30-May 7.I am not worried about the crowds, I am spending time at universal and seaworld too.

Our last day in the world is may 2. Its the only time we can go with the 3 ds school schedule. I am sure they will have soft openings of soarin and the stunt show at mgm. I dont feel too bad because we are getting ap's and I know we might be back in dec, if dh conference at the swan goes as planned or we will go for the boys spring or mid winter break next year. We were there before the official opening of mission space and it was already up and operational. I plan to just enjoy what I can while we are there, you will see all the great topiarys at epcot so that is a plus too for the garden festival. We were also there just a little before the garden festival last year and we were still able to enjoy alot of the beautiful flowers at epcot. Enjoy seeing what is there for you, after all you can always plan another trip to see what you missed this time, right

krystyana- I'm staying at ASMo, how 'bout you? Anyone else staying there?

I feel better knowing I'm not the only one who missed it by thismuch. :) I think I came off a little more upset than I actually was, that's easy to do when your words are read instead of heard! I am really excited to see the garden festival at Epcot (oh joy for my husband!) and happy that the crowds should be low!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :jumping3:

It will be our first family trip to WDW that same time. We will actually be leaving home on April 28 after DH gets off work to start the drive there. We are going to get to WDW on April 30 and spend one night at POFQ chilling out by the pool, then getting up early the next morning and heading over to check in at WL for the next four nights. I am hoping that the crowds at MK won't be too bad on May 5 as I am planning on spending the day there before we head out to an offsite hotel to crash before we start the long drive home.

This is my tenative plan for the trip.

May 1
check in early at WL to get our keys to the room and parks
drive ourselves to AK hopefully get there at opening
stay until 2pm
head back to WL, hopefully room ready
5pm PS Chef Mickey's
head into MK until closing.

May 2
Disney Studios
6pm PS Rose and Crown in Epcot
hang out at Epcot for Illuminations

May 3
start at Epcot for 10:10 PS with princesses
head over to MK

May 4
Magic Kingdom

May 5
Breakfast at Trails End 8am
check out of WL
magic kingdom
5:30 PS concourse steakhouse
back to MK until close, or until tired.
head to offsite hotel

We will also be taking breaks to hang out at the pool at WL and maybe resort hop.

I cannot wait to go.

We'll be there 4/30 - 5/7. Both of my DS's are celebrating birthdays that week (5/2 and 5/4) and that's why we picked those dates. Then WDW announced the big celebration. I was very worried about crowds, but not anymore. It seems like it is always crowded now. We'll just go with the flow. :)

Oddly enough the 1st week of May was the only time I could get an AP rate for the room I wanted at the CR - the 2nd and 3rd weeks were booked solid. And I got this rate even awhile after the rates had come out. I almost think that it will be more crowded after that 1st week cause of folks trying to avoid the kick off - or trying to make sure the new attractions are open and so forth before they arrive.

We'll be there Apr. 30-May 5 also. I have PS for 1900 Park Fare for dinner, and the hotel booked, but that's all. We didn't have a choice about when to go, it was the only week my husband is allowed to take off. It's kind of a bummer since I'm due to have a baby in late April, I would have liked the choice to go a little later, but there was no other way.

I'm not too worried about the crowds, it's a part of Disney, you just have to be smart about taking breaks during the busy times and using FP. I'm more worried about the heat.

We will be there from April 27th-May 8th.

I too have waffled back and forth about crowds, about when we should go etc. I originally set the dates, and now my BIL is getting married while we are down there, so we can't change. (Plus, I don't think I would if I could)

I expect it be busier than usual for the period, but not like Easter or Mid-Summer crowds... and if it is... so be it. We get a couple of days in every park, so it isn't like we have to everything in a day. Plus, my DW and DD and I are already planning our September trip.

This is our plan for 45 days from now and we are sticking to it :cool1:

We will be there from April 22nd to May 6th.

We have priority seating at Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom for May 5th, which is kick-off day for Celebration. I am guessing the place is going to be choc full, but having said that - the lady I spoke to when arranging my priority seating (a few weeks ago) didn't know anything about it at all - she even asked a colleague who also didn't have a clue that anything was happening!

We will be there with 2 older kids and 2 toddlers (11 months and 20 months) so I think we will be dead on our feet by the time anything remotely exciting happens, LOL.

Claire.
