WDW Marathon Week Questions

Hi everyone, I am planning on doing the 2017 Disney Marathon and had a couple questions as I begin to plan.

1. Does every entry need proof of time? I currently run competitively in college cross country and track so I've ran these distances and am in pretty good shape but I don't have an official marathon or half marathon time. I don't plan on running this for a personal best or anything so being in one of the later shoots is no problem to me.
2. If I am running just the marathon Sunday do I need to be at the expo earlier in the week for registration purposes? My original plan was to fly to Orlando Saturday but I wasn't sure if that was possible.

Any help is appreciated, thank you!

You don't have to submit a proof of time when you register initially - more so an expected time of finish. They use proof of time to put you in a corral so if you don't submit one at all you will be placed in the later/last corral. As for the expo, the RunDisney site has Saturday, January 7th listed as a date the expo is open, not sure of the times though.

1. No proof of time submission will put you in the last corral. From the Run Disney site: "If you believe you will finish the Half Marathon in less than 3:15 hours or the Marathon in less than 6:30 hours, proof of time is required for start corral placement. Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge and Dopey Challenge participants should adhere to Full Marathon proof of time requirements and submit a 10Miler distance or longer. Proof of time is not required for the 5K and 10K races."
"If proof of time is not provided by a TBD date, data provided is incomplete or cannot be verified, you will be placed in the last start corral."

2. Expo is open until 4:00 PM [at least it was this year] on the Saturday before the marathon. There's no reason to do it "earlier" in the week, as long as you can get there by closing on Saturday.

Hope this helps!

You will only be placed in last corral if guy doecsre a time at or faster than the time they list as POT being required.

I put maybe 3:20 for the half. No POT required and I was not in the last corral. Now, that is contingent upon the number of people who claimed slower times than me and those faster people who had no proof of time. But Proof of time is only required for times submitted at or faster than what they lost as their threshold.

OP, if you fly in Saturday, give yourself plenty of time to be able to get to expo. No one can pick your bib up on your behalf and once Expo closes, you will be out of luck on pick up.
