I'm wanting to find or make a local road map that will show the streets inside WDW to the parks from the campground and also show the nearby ouside streets that the publix and super walmarts are on. I know there is a basic WDW brochure type layout that shows the parks but do you know if any other websites might have something better. Please do not waste your time about how Great the bus system is. Experienced that and once was enough.

Thanks for any real help.

I will go through our "stuff" collected during our stay earlier in August and see if I can find a map that was given to us at the Concierge desk at the Fort. This map was produced by one of the rental car companies and included more detail on streets outside of the "World". I don't recall there being any other businesses listed on it, but we used it along with the Unofficial Guide to venture into foreign territory!

In all my reading, I think the Unofficial Guide probably has the most detail on the businesses around WDW and their maps are pretty good. I have not done a lot of digging around the web to see what is available, just don't have that much free time on my hands anymore, but I would figure someone has this published.

One thing I found interesting, all of the stores on Disney property can only sell Coca-Cola products, including the Hess stations. I had tried to pick up some Mountain Dew for my son and his friend, and the guy behind the counter said that Disney makes them enter into marketing agreements in order to lease space on the property. I had asked because Hess carries Mountain Dew in other locations.

The "unofficial Guides" have maps in them that include surrounding areas and mentions the nearby Winn Dixie, at least.

That was nice of you to google that map for the OP -

It looks like a long and inconvenient drive to get to the nearest store. Is it really that bad?

Part of the attraction of FW is the remoteness. Part of the problem with FW is the remoteness. Other than the two trading posts, there is nothing really close. But I prefer the remoteness. We plan ahead or have guests take us to a store, or have even rented a car for short periods. And a golf cart within FW.

It's only 5 miles to the Winn-Dixie in Vineland... maybe 3 turns? And the first couple of miles are Disney 'back-roads' with virtually no traffic. So, it's no that bad. The nearest Wal*Mart or Target, well, that's a bit of a pain.

thank you everyone that took time to offer help and info. Very much appreciated. We probably will get to our site then make a store run, or stop before going into the park,, not quite sure how we plan to do it just yet.
