We used the MK kennel approx 8 months ago. I received a letter in the mail today regarding our WDW kennel use.
From the survey it is pretty obvious Disney is wanting to get feedback on greatly enhancing their kennel services (and charging more).
I think that is a long overdue service.
Here is a page I copied and pasted. This was a list to check what kennel services I would be willing to pay an increase for.

"Complete grooming capabilities
The opportunity to have your pet photographed with Walt Disney World characters
The ability to see your pet over the Internet during his or her stay
Larger kennels consisting of 2 rooms which give your pet separate areas in which to sleep and to walk or relieve itself
Several levels of accommodations -- something for every budget
Ability to pick up or drop off your pet 24 hours a day
The ability to pre-register your pet for express check-in at the kennel facility
Spa services for your pet such as massage
Indoor, climate-controlled kennels with separate outdoor runs for each pet
The ability to charge pet accommodations and services to your hotel bill
The ability to enroll your pet in optional classes that teach tricks or manners
The chance to play Frisbee or to retrieve tennis balls
We will pick up and/or drop off your pet from the front entrance of each Walt Disney World park
A choice of well known foods so you don't have to bring your own
We sell an assortment of standard pet accessories such as collars, leashes, etc.
An agility area in which your pet can play -- climbing, crawling through tunnels, pulling toys, etc
Swimming facilities
A sand box for pets to play and dig in
Playtimes during which a cast member will play with your pet
We sell a variety of pet gifts and souvenirs for pets
The option of having us feed your pet your own food that you leave with us
Supervised play times during which your pet can play with other pets of similar size and temperament
A veterinarian is always available
Feeding of your pet without you being present
Access to pick up or drop off your pet at any time from 1 hour before the park opens to 1 hour after it closes
A bath before you pick up your pet
A frequent user club that allows you to accumulate points toward free stays or other awards at various kennels all over the US
A waterslide for pets
Extra large luxury suites with raised beds in a separate room
We will pick up and/or drop off your pet from Walt Disney World hotels
Walking and/or playing with your pet without you present"

I always wondered why they did not do this long ago. I will be glad if they put more effort and perks into on-site pet stays.

Who else had paid to have their doggies photos taken with Santa at Petsmart? :goodvibes :wave2:

I'd like to have some of these services for my own family. My wife would enjoy the massage, I'd like to play frisbee and retrieve tennis balls, and it would be great if I could get my kids bathed before we pick them up!

A sandbox or waterslide? Would the sandbox be for cats? ;)

Extra large luxury suites? Hmmmm...

I have a dachshund that loves to dig - the sandbox would be perfect for her!

Now, they just have to address pet transportation. Since we fly from PA, we'd have to find a pet-friendly airline, pet-friendly towncar service, etc. I guess this would work well if you're driving though.

My problem would be that I'd hate to leave my doxie alone, even in a posh place where she's taken care of. I'd be spending lots of my vacation time at the kennel. I think it's easier to board her at a local kennel near our home for her "vacation".

lol... silly. I never understood why people took their pets to WDW... there is no point, what dog or cat needs a waterslide??? I also feel like Disney is setting themselves up for lawsuits. By giving pets time to "play" with each other or swim... this sets up various problems like death, injury and accidental pregnancy. And some of the options here are silly and should ALREADY be in place at any kennel.
reasonable space for animals of any size, separate runs for inside and outside use, exercise areas designed so that your dog could actually go out and go to the bathroom and run around 5 times a day, feed for those staying overnight, without the guest being there... . all kennels should be doing such things and you shouldn't be paying extra for it.
and why would anybody risk their pets life on a airline (we used to ship puppies out all the time when we were a breeder, sometimes the airlines forget to put the animals in proper temperature cargo holds and the animals freeze to death.) so that their pet could go and be lonely at Disney. You are better off paying a lot less for most likely better service.... besides your pet probably doesn't know who pooh bear is and wont care to get a pic with him. sorry just ranting about this.

I dont think they should cancel it or anything, because some people need it but charging way more for stuff that should be done already is silly.

I think many assume guests fly. I think you would be surprised at the number who drive to WDW. Of course considering the numbers that visit WDW, not everyone could fly.
I'm sure some do fly with their pets. But I would think most would drive.
We used the facility on Christmas Day so we would not feel like we had to run home midday to let the dogs out.
And lots of Floridians stay over night at WDW.
I think with the kennels as they are now, people are expecting more only because it being Disney. Their current facilities and service is very basic, and nearly all self serve.
Most cities have businesses who offer Doggie Day Care. And they seem to do well.

Isn't it required that you must stop in daily to feed, walk, and play with your dog?

Any "normal" kennel is full-service. Plus, after a week in a kennel, you definitely want your dog bathed before it gets anywhere near your car!

Aside from Floridians, I think it was meant to serve the FW crowd, as well as Snowbirds, who may travel for extended periods and of course bring their pooch.

Thankfully, Grandma watches our doggies!

When and where will they enhance kennel services? This would be great! :dog:
