Hi

I have booked for WDW, Beach Club with the Dining Plan, for the 11th July this year and have been looking at flights - none of which are cheap at the moment!

However, I am now thinking that July is going to be unbearably hot and that the US schools will be on holidays too, involving lots of queuing.

Complete Orlando, who we booked with, have said we can move it to October if we wish and it is likely that Disney will honour the Dining Plan. The flights don't seem to be that much difference at present.

Other half isn't good with queuing, although, as with all theme parks he knows there will be some, so I am at a loss to know what would be for the best.

What would you do?

Kate

Honestly....I would def move it to October if that is an option. The crowd levels for your July dates are 9/10 for the the whole time and the October levels (not sure when you are going) are significantly lower. Oct/Nov time is my fav time of the year, its a beautiful temp with no humidity and warm evenings (in October).
But if your other half is not good queuing then Oct is a really good option of the two. :thumbsup2

Thanks for replying Vanda.

It would be during October holidays so from 19th onwards to beginning of November. I think I would look at flights and choose the date from those.

I need to sort it out this week if I can, because the flights for July are slowly and surely disappearing!

Just don't think I can wait another three months on!!! :(

I'd definitely go with Oct. Apart from having lower crowd levels, cooler temps and a lot less humidity you'll also be able to go to MNSSHP.

If the timing is right you might even be able to do MVMCP as well! :)

Yes I know what you mean...once you have it in your mind that you could be going in July its hard to then re-think and wait another 3 months. :)
The crowd levels for your october dates are averaging out at 4/10!
Those extra three months will wizz by you know and it gives you all that extra time to plan. :thumbsup2

July heat in Florida can really be unbearable, especially for us (UK, northern France, etc)
Most days in October will feel like a hot summer day at home, and it will be more enjoyable than july's scorching heat

It depends if you and your party can stand the heat and humidity, because this kind of weather can really take a toll on the body and slow a vacation to a painful crawl if you're not used to that kind of hot and humid air.

we're going Oct 18th - Nov 9th
crowds look good and as PP said, October is MNSSHP time

if it's not a problem, i would definitely switch to october - you'll have some crowds in october, but nothing like july, when the parks are heaving with people.

and the weather - there is no way to describe the hellish heat/humidity of an orlando summer. It's beyond anything you can possibly comprehend if you've never experienced it.
whereas, october is very pleasant.

and as a bonus, you'll be able to go to the halloween party - it does cost extra, but it's a lot of fun!

That bit made me laugh because I was going to say something along those lines as well! If, when we did a July, it had been our first time to Orlando I am not sure we would ever have gone back after experiencing EXACTLY what you said.:)

October is def the way forward given the choice.

As others have said, easy choice Oct anyday over July. Unfortunately we are stuck to July this year, I know it will be hot & busy but no choice for us.

Another positive over that period in October and early November is the Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival.

But you will possible just miss out on Disney's Christmas theme as they normally start setting up the Christmas decorations just after Halloween.

And yes, we agree October over July is a much better time to go.

We go to the beach club on the 19th October for 2 weeks! Might see you there if you switch!!

I would move it to oct we had ours booked for this may and moved to oct due to school not letting kids go so was disappointed at first but it's better as we can now do the Halloween party and food and wine and may even see the Christmas decorations also give my youngest to grow a bit taller

it's impossible to exaggerate just how hot it is!!
i tend to forget between trips and then we get there and you walk out of the airport to get the rental car and bam - that heat just slams you in the face.
and i always say, "OMG, i forgot just how hot and humid it is"

we practically start melting on the spot. Thank god for air conditioning!!

another thing i forgot to mention, i've found that people in the parks, standing in line or whatever, are much more short-tempered in july.
That heat takes its toll!!

Lots of us on here are booked for October - shows what a good time it is to go. Will be our 3rd October in a row.

Flights can be pricey as it is a popular time with brits but if you are flexible on dates/indirect you will be fine.

We are flying MAN via Atlanta on 22nd October.

If we had the choice with school holidays etc we'd choose October purely for the Halloween party let alone weather etc.

Saying that we've been in August twice and going in July this year and find it hot but manageable as you're in and out of splendid air-conditioned buildings.

Thank you everyone for your replies.

I am going to move to October. Just looking for a flight now.

I see there is a United Airlines flight (indirect), a couple of hundred less than the Virgin ones, now I have to decide whether Virgin is worth the extra or not - flyuing from Manchester.

Will have a look at that Atlanta one.

Sorry should have said it's Manchester via Atlanta with Delta.

Last year we flew with US Airways from Man via Philly which was fine. They were just a bit dearer than Delta for our dates this year.

delta is fine via atlanta - if it's a lot cheaper, i would go with delta.
unless seatback entertainment is a dealbreaker for you - i'm not sure whether the manchester planes have it.
i know the heathrow planes do, and i know they're in the process of upgrading all of their planes, but i don't know for sure whether the manchester planes have it yet.

United is fine. You also have complimentary seat selection (IIRC virgin charges for seat selection)

most united TATL have inflight entertainement.

United might fly TATL on 757s which are much smaller (single aisle plane) than 767s, 747s or A330s operated by other air carriers.
Although United is good value, this year we chose a larger plane, because in 757s it sometimes feel like you're in a big long school bus, and using lavatories during inflight beverage/meal service is close to impossible because they're only avalaible at the back of the plane
for me, the type of plane plays an important part in my decision process.
I would gladly land 1 or 2 hours later to get a more "comfortable" plane (even if cost was the same)
