WDW iPhone apps on canadian phone

Okay I am looking into getting an iPhone and I am intrigued by the different WDW apps that are out there. Will I be able to get them on a canadian phone and will it work on a canadian phone in the park? Are there outrageous fees attached, or is it worth it?

I have an entire folder of Disney related apps on my Rogers iPhone that I use in the parks. I add a roaming data pack on my phone before I leave so I pre-pay for the data usage at a rate A LOT lower than it would be if I just used straight US data roaming. I think all of the Canadian cell companies have similar plans.

As for apps, I like:
- Lines (from the makers of touringplans.com and the Unofficial Guide) - a must have app in the parks
- Disney World Dining - good for menus, etc.
- a "Remember where I parked my car" app (can't remember which one it is though)
- OLP (Our laughing place) tranporation wizard - helps you figure out "how do I get to x" using Disney transporation
- Also added the new Dining Reservations mobile web site onto my home screen in case I need a last minute ADR.

I have others I use when I'm not in the park, but those I've found useful in-park.

I just downloaded Lines from Touringplans.com I have a Touringplans subscription so get the full app free. I think if you're not a subscriber you don't get the full app. It's worth a subscription IMO. Love the site. Can't wait to try App in the parks!

I use Laughing Place on my computer, had no idea they have an App! Another fav site! Will have to download.

Yes, you'll need to add a data roaming plan when you leave, for the time you are away.

I'm on Telus. They have various temp. plans for roaming the US-

It's not cheap getting all 3 so you'll ha ve to think about how you're going to use your phone while you're there.

We are getting a data plan for our trip, but where we are staying has wifi (here it will be free to use the apps), We have already calculated how much data the apps take while being used and have discovered that on for Fido will be enough to use the apps in the park during our 8 day trip.

This is my first year with an i phone. Didn't have a smart phone before, just your garden variety type! I'm finding the U.S. charges and plans very different.

With my old phone, because I have a texting plan, text in the US was incl.
And voice plan was pay a flat rate with how many minutes you want, and add on to your plan while you're away.

Smart phone add on plans are sooooo much more expensive.

A few of the apps we've found won't let you download them if you're outside the U.S. But all you have to do is go into your settings and change your country to "U.S" and do the download, then you can switch back to Canada - problem solved!

No, WiFi doesn't use the cellular network. It uses the local WiFi network of who ever is providing the WiFi service.
