Our trip is planned for 9/24-9/30.

What should we expect for weather? Crowds? We were last there in early May 2010 and it was nearly perfect...I want to manage my expectations! LOL

Here's our take on September...
Crowds are great! 5 - 20 minute waits.
We don't see tour groups or TONS of kids, just LOTS of kids.
Weather is hot! You'll be sweating in the AM, should be poolside in the afternoon but evenings are fantastic.
Love bugs could be an issue.
Great deals on air, car rentals etc.
Park hours aren't as generous as they are during busier months.

:3dglasses September is our choice for the best time to go to Disney! But please don't tell too many people.

p.s. We'll be there 9/23 through 9/29. We'll be wearing shorts and sunglasses...look for us!!!!!!

LOL! I will keep my eye out for you!

Based on our reservations, I think we will miss the evening parade and fireworks in MK completely, and likely won't see the epcot light show either. That part makes me sad...but I am excited about the predicted crowds! And the NSSHP, which looks super cute :)

On the nights of MNSSHP the Magic Kingdom fireworks go off a little later than usual (I think) so maybe you'll catch some after all. Bring rain poncho's, a quick but heavy downpour isn't an unusual September occurrence. You'll be leaving right before Epcot's Food and Wine Festival (which brings crowds) but you'll see all of the booths set up as you wander around World Showcase. You'll have a great time...happy travels!!!!

I am toying with the idea to extend the trip two days to run the half marathon, but I have heard it isn't really a good race. It is still very tempting!

Spending a Disney vacation in September is the greatest. Perfect timing for lower wait times, crowds, air, resort, and car rental prices are lower too. Disney usually runs a free dining special (as they are now) for most days in September. My family and I have regularly booked the free dining offer for about 5 years now. Its the way to go! Yes, the normal park hours are some what shorter than they are in the summer, but if you stay at a Disney resort take advantage of the extra magic hours. The weather is still warm but not unnecessarily hot. With this in mind, make use of the water parks because they tend to be less crowded as well. Hope this helps!
