Hey all, glad to be back! Currently I'm planning my latest trip back to the World and I couldn't be more excited about it. But as I have it now, I'll have to be visiting in 2015 and in January (4th through the 13th). I've never visited during this time and I'm starting to hear conflicting messages, so I'd appreciate your help. I just have a few questions about January in WDW and any info would be great!

  • How would the crowd levels and wait times compare to the rest of the year?
  • Are the room rates expected to be at thier lowest?
  • How many rides and what type expirence maitence during this time?
  • Overall, is this a reasonable time to visit?

Thanks for reading, have a magical day!

those dates are marathon weekend. this year there were 26,000 runners. how do i know it's marathon weekend--my son is running.

[*]How would the crowd levels and wait times compare to the rest of the year?

You'll be arriving on the Sunday when the Holiday crowds are departing and the marathon crowds are arriving. Having said that, the marathon crowds "typically" do not have a significant impact on theme park attendance, however they do impact resort availability......see your next question.

[*]Are the room rates expected to be at thier lowest?

I would not expect any significant discounts based on the marathon crowds demand for resorts....us being one of them. We're booked 1/7/15 - 1/14/15.

[*]How many rides and what type expirence maitence during this time?

One water park will be down for renovations... tbd which one. Splash is traditionally down this time of year.

[*]Overall, is this a reasonable time to visit?

"Reasonable" is subjective, but IMO it's a good time to go. We've been going [running] for 10 years during this time and have varying weather conditions, wait times, and overall experiences. Any other specific questions, fire away/
