What hotels are available on site at WDW for 2 adults and 4 children? Are there any discounts for a vacation 2/18 thru 2/25 even if we have to split into two rooms?

I am anxious to hear experiences on this topic as well. With the ages of my children a connecting room is just not doable.

The DVC is out of reach so I am hoping some one has experience with getting the family suites at a code price.:wizard:

This has been the greatest factor that has prohibited us from staying on property. We truly want to experience the magic on property.

Family suites are rarely offered with a special. At least, I haven't been able to find any. I guess since there are so few, they don't need to offer them with a promo.

Disney started codes and dicounts on the Family Suites during Spring of 2007.
AAA ofers some discounted Family Suites also so keep youreyes open and you may be able to snag a deal.

The Family Suites will sleep 6. They have a Queensize bed in the master bedroom area.
The living/ sleeping area has a foldout sofa plus a foldout chair and a foldout ottoman.

Here are some photos of the foldouts:

DH and I stayed in a Family Suite at All Star Music ( a value resort) in Sept. of 2006.

We really enjoyed the Queen size bed, the kitchenette with the microwave, having a sofa and cushioned chair to sit on and relax after a day at the parks before retiring for the evening.

I thought the pullouts very comfortable.

They are designed so the back cushion and seat cushion of the pullout support the pullout. There is no metal bar to hurt the sleepers back.

Info thread--Pullouts in Family Suites at ASMU with photos of how the pullout is supported.

We decided to book 2 rooms at Pop for the 6 of us. Dh, I, 15yr, 14yr, 12yr, & 3 yr.

Because we are 2 parents with kids they said we are guaranteed connecting rooms. But since they are older it won't be a huge issue if they don't unless they don't put them next door !

An affordable option for large families would be a cabin at Fort Wilderness. Here is a description of a cabin:

Our newest woodland dwellings are a perfect combination of the comforts of home and the great outdoors. The Wilderness Cabins are one-bedroom units that sleep six. The bedroom has a double bed and a set of bunk beds. There is also a Murphy bed in the sitting area. All Cabins feature a fully-equipped kitchen, microwave oven, dining table that seats six, air conditioning, full bathroom with hair dryer, one color cable television and VCR, telephone, and daily housekeeping. Each Wilderness Cabin also has an outdoor patio-deck with a picnic table, charcoal grill and parking for one vehicle.

Fort Wilderness has so many activities and you get a kitchen. Big plus there. On the downside, there's only one bathroom.

It's a great alternative to just two rooms. I like the All Star suites, but they are popular and sometimes hard to get.

how old are your children?

the DVC resorts 2-bedroom - OKW, SSR, BCV, BWV, VWL, AKV

both OKW and AKV are less expensive than the others - if you are renting from a DVC member.

AKV has a room choice called Value which is the same point cost as OKW.

BWV is a little more expensive (standard view) - AKV also have one in the same price (Standard)

AKV is the latest - DVD is currently building it.

in listed in order from cheapest to most expensive

1) value 2 rooms
2) all star music suites
3) FW cabins
4) DVC resort

sometimes 3 and 4 change - just depends upon who you are renting from

We have 6 children that range in age from 10 months to 12 yrs. We get 2 connecting rooms at a Value resort. It works great for us and it's affordable.

We have four kids ages 2 through 12. When it was just 3 kids we stayed in deluxe resorts which fit 5. When we added our last child, we decided it was time for two rooms...more space, 2 TV's, and 2 bathrooms.

We have stayed at CBR, ASMu, and POFQ (2 times) in the last 3 years. We have had connecting rooms for all of those except one time at CBR. However, in fairness to Disney we elect to have a preferred room location at CBR (very much limited the connecting room choices) and we were traveling during a very busy time (late June through July 6).

When we pressed about connecting rooms (kids were 6 months, 5, 9, and 10), they offered to move us out of preferred to connecting rooms in another part of the resort (they would have refunded the room cost difference). Since my mom was flying in the next day to join us, we opted to keep the preferred rooms that were adjoining and dh and I just split apart that first night...then my mom had the older 2 with her and we had the younger two with us. It worked fine that trip.
