Hey everyone! I am a newbie here on this board and wanted to introduce myself. I am 27 and my FI is 24 (yes I am a house cat, not old enough to be a cougar yet) he is in the Coast Guard, and I am unemployed right now after my service in the CG. I will be going to school to be a nurse soon! We are stationed in New Jersey right now but I am from Arkansas and he is from Maryland. Our wedding is 9-10-11 and then on the 12th we leave for our HM @ Disney! It will be my first ever trip, and his second as he went when he was a child but doesn't remember it since he was so young.

Sooo, my question is outside of all the awesomeness of the different parks, what are some HM specific things to do? i.e.-romantic things?

I'm so excited and I can't wait to get to know everyone here!! :woohoo:

First off, let me just say congratulations on your upcoming wedding! You picked a great place to come for tips.

Can I ask what your budget looks like? There are some fancy places to eat that are great for honeymoons, like Victoria and Albert's at the Grand Floridian.

There's also buttons you can wear to let everyone know you are married. You can get them for free at City Hall which is on the left as you enter Magic Kingdom.

These are just some examples of all the great things you can do, I'm sure everyone else will have hundreds of ideas!

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!! :)

I am also going to be honeymooning in Disney in November!

What hotel are you staying at?? We are staying at the Port Orleans French Quarter!

Many of the restaurants can be romantic- especially the signatures. Are you going to have a dining plan?

There are massages, carriage rides, fireworks cruises, Cinderella's Royal Table Dinners! Tons of information throughout the boards!

Welcome again!! :goodvibes

We are staying at Shades of Green and have that set up already, our spending budget will be around 500.00 is that enough???

It depends what you want to do. You can spend as little or as much as you want :)
The higher end restaurants do tend to get expensive.
We are eating at a few of them and plan to do other things, such as the Food and Wine Festival (we are going in September), dining with an imagineer at the Hollywood Brown Derby, and some nice restaurants. Also, I'm addicted to the Disney Vinylmations, so I know I'll be going shopping crazy!
A good site that I use is www.allears.net. It tells you what events are going on during the time of your stay.
Congrats and welcome! If you have any questions, everyone on the boards are super helpful!!

Thanks for all the info! I looked at the website and I'm kind of disappointed that I'll miss the food and wine festival :( I am going sept 12-18 and it doesn't start until the 30th. Boo!! Oh well I'll still find my way to wine I'm sure :)

Congrats and welcome! Here's an idea, and it doesn't have to cost you anything- take the Monorail to the Poly and watch the Electrical Water pageant on the beach. It's a nightly light parade on the lake. Check it out:

I highly recommend grabbing a dole whip at Capt Cooks on your way to the beach!

OOOooo That looks amazing!! I'm so excited about going! I hope it can still be a good honeymoon even though I feel like I am 5 every time I see anything Disney!

Oh my gosh ... we're getting married the SAME DAY!

My fiancée and I are flying out that night to Orlando, taking a 4-night cruise on the Disney Dream, then spending 10 days in WDW at the Contemporary Resort.

There will be plenty for you to do. Most of the "big" restaurants offer a "sweetheart dinner" now, so check the Reservations site for those once you're 180 days out. My lady and I are also planning to do the "Dining with an Imagineer" at some point during our stay. There's stuff like carriage rides (at Fort Wilderness), spa treatments (Grand Floridian), excellent dining at just about every resort, you name it. You'd have to give us ideas of what you'd like to do, and we might be able to suggest some things. I have a few little things planned, like dinner at the California Grill during the fireworks.

But honestly, just go with the intention of bring a kid again, take it easy, and have a blast!

One note: Is that your spending budget for the entire trip? How long are you there for? WDW is fun, but expensive, and you might spend that much on food alone if you're not already on a dining plan

Yay!!! Congrats to you on the wedding too!! :yay: The massage and nice dinners sound really good. Maybe taking a stroll through some of the trails would be nice too.

So we are getting a $200.00 giftcard for dining as a gift, is that not enough? We aren't eligible for the dining plan because we got a discounted room. :teacher: I have no idea how much money we need for all of this. I just know how much for the room/flight/tickets. Outside of those I just don't know what kind of money it's going to take to make it a good trip.:confused3

Dining honestly depends on the type of dining that you want to do while you're there and how flexible you are. (How many days will you be there?) If you want to have a bunch of meals at the signature restaurants, it probably won't be enough - those are places like the California Grill, Narcoossee's etc. A meal there can go on average for about $100 for a couple, though you can make menu choices that will significantly raise or lower that number.

But if you want to stay in the parks most of the day and you're thinking you'll grab mostly quick service meals, and do an occasional sit-down table service meal, then you should be okay, depending on how long your trip is. My best advice is to take a look at Disney website and go to each restaurant's individual page. Most of them have a pdf file of their menus, complete with prices. That way you can look into specific places to get an idea of the prices that you are looking at.

Remember that Disney is what you make of it, and even when you're reading on the boards about all of the fantastic things that other people are doing, remember that it may not always be possible for you on your budget - but that doesn't make your trip any less special! I took a trip to Disney once on a super budget and we literally lived off of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, but we had a great time!

We will be going for 6 nights 7 days..9/12-18th. I appreciate the advice! I am just going to have to save as much as possible for when the time comes and just hope for the best.

You will be arriving for your honeymoon the day I am leaving from mine. :) Yup, just keep saving... every time I want to buy myself a little something now that I don't really need, like I'm craving McDonald's when I have food at home, I stop myself and tell myself to put the money toward the honeymoon instead!
