WDW Honeymoon problems?

The only possible 'down' point was at Orlando airport. Flying in from the UK we waited in line with our various forms and saw lots of heterosexual couples / families go up to the immigration desk together. We went up together and were asked 'what's your relationship?' when I said we were 'civil partners' the officer said 'you can't come up together, one of you needs to go back':scared1: I pointed out that we had the same surname (we'd changed these on our passport following the partnership, which is legal in the UK) and lived at the same address, and he eventually allowed us to process our details together - phew :thumbsup2

Not a big deal - but next time we may go through immigration seperatley, thinking back I don't know if going up together really saves much time anyway!

Ah this was my other worry! Coming from Australia I have heard so many horror stories about American Customs...

How did you find it other than that one hiccup?

Ive heard that they check your ipod contents and that you can be deported for minor things (like gel insoles) :scared1: also that they randomly 'body search' every 20 people? is that true?

Its not that I'm going to be doing anything wrong intentionally, I just want to make sure I make it to WDW! (we were planning on going through separately in terms of immigration, just as friends travelling together would) Im also buying all toiletries through an online grocery site so I don't have to worry about liquids.

Congratulations! Another straight mom lurking here, lol!

I totally agree with KristinU...I think my kids would honestly be oblivious to anything not Disney character related. Even if DS (who is 8) would notice, he'd probably just say 'cool Mickey ears', lol.

Enjoy WDW and your honeymoon :)

Hi there! Just to confirm that our one immigration issue aside we found the customs / airport to be just fine :thumbsup2 Obviously, we were pretty keen to get out of there quickly and on our way to WDW!! We had completed an ESTA form online in advance (I'm not sure if these are relevant to Australia too, but it's worth checking out), and we didn't find luggage searches or liquid checks to be any more rigorous than in the UK. The majority of staff were really helpful - and there's no certainly no "horror stories" to tell!

With customs (as oppose to Immigration checks) you have to complete another form. It states that only one form is needed "per family" but again, you may want to consider doing one each if you're concerned. Have fun - I'm sure you'll have a great time!
