Hi Gang,

We're going to be staying at WDW via DVC early next year and wanted to get recommendations on Grocery delivery options and prices. Typically, when we stay via DVC I will spend at least half of my first day there dropping off the family, unloading the luggage, then driving over to a busy super Walmart and loading up 1-2 carts worth of groceries, loading the car, driving back, unloading the groceries.... you get the idea, basically it's a lot of "work" for a vacation! :)

What are the good grocery services in the WDW area that you would recommend? I assume there are some who stock their own items... are there also some who will simply go shopping to a store for you and then deliver it for a fee?

I'm new to this, so any advise, things to watch for, companies, fees, etc. would be MUCH appreciated.

Thank you!

We prefer Garden Grocer. I've used them several times, and having it all delivered the day we check in is such a time saver!

I also have their app, so if after a day or so we feel we need more items, you can sit by the pool and place another order in minutes! Did that last trip (more beer ;) )

Most people enjoy Garden Grocer. I don't stay DVC but I enjoy having breakfast in my room so I pack instant oatmeal and bagels in my luggage, and supplement things from the resort shop.
If you're planning on making regular meals prob garden grocer would work best. Another company people talk about is WeGo Shop.

If you aren't planning to make regular meals and just looking for breakfast stuff, milk, juice, cold cuts, bread, etc I'd look at costs with Garden Grocer vs buying at resort shop. It may work out the same cost. Resort shop has higher price, but may be off set by fee from Garden Grocer. Either way you'd be paying more than doing it yourself.

The shops in the resorts that have DVC are pretty well stocked.

When I fly into Ft Lauderdale first for a few days, I shop at Publix my last night to get yogurt & OJ, bagels, etc. And buy a cheap styro cooler to keep things cold for my 3 hr drive up to Orlando. I hear you about not wanting to spend precious time shopping after arriving at Wdw.

Garden Grocer is great; we've used them several times with no issues. The convenience is worth it IMHO. However, I shop at Publix when we have a car. But grocery shopping is something I don't enjoy while on vacation! :sad2:

We usually do a pretty decent amount of shopping. Breakfast, lunch, and a few dinners mixed in there. I would say we average about a $300+ shopping trip to Walmart for the duration of our ~1.5 week trip (we have a large family).

How much of premium would you expect to pay with Garden Grocer? 10%? 20%? 30%? More?

Anyone have any comparison experience between GG and WeGo shop? We would love to do it as long as the price isn't prohibitive.

Thanks!

I have used both of the major Disney area grocery services. I much prefer Garden Grocer. In fact after horrible customer service I will no longer use or recommend wegoshop.
Garden Grocer has "virtual aisles" you shop on their web site. If their is something you want that is not there, you can request it in the comments section. You choose a delivery window & it is delivered to Bell Services at your resort. Cold items are kept refrigerated/frozen by Bell Services. Once you are in your Villa you call down & Bell Services will deliver your order. Be sure to tip them :-). The delivery fee for an order less than $200 is $$14. It goes down for orders more than that.
We order: breakfast food, fresh fruit, coffee, juice, case of water, soda, beer, wine Cheese& crackers & other snacks. I don't cook on vacation. But just breakfast in the morning & Cold drinks, snacks & an adult beverage are delightful & will save you the delivery fee & more.
Enjoy

How does it work with Garden Grocer, do you need to be in your room during the delivery?

We just used Dizzy Dolphin for our June trip at AoA and will be using them again for our August trip to AKL. I was very happy with the service. It was actually waiting in our room when we arrived, dry goods on the table and the refrigerated items packed in the fridge. You just email them a list of the items you want and they will email you back a quote. There was a $14 delivery charge. I liked that you could choose whatever size you wanted of an item and they will shop at particular stores if you want them to. They also deliver alcohol.

Thanks again, good to know!

One question with Garden Grocer - how far in advance should you make your order if you want to ensure you get a particular delivery window?

No. All the Grocery Delivery services deliver your order to Bell Services. Bell Services will keep any perishables cold/frozen for you. Then you can pick it up from them or call from in your room and they will bring it up for you.

As far in advance as you can. Delivery windows do fill, especially during busy times. I have already placed my order for October, but all delivery window were open then.
Plus there is a discount on the total order if you order early. I believe it is 10% for 60 days and 5% for 30 days.

Anyone have experience with the Amazon grocery delivery? Either Amazon Prime Pantry or Prime Now?

Looking into using both for this trip

Have used many of the other delivery services before but being a prime member and cheaper-no delivery charges makes me want to give them a shot.

Any experience?

I've used Prime Pantry at Pop Century and it was great! I haven't used Prime Now, but it's a good option.

Neither will deliver alcohol - bummer.

Where do they usually shop? Or is it always at the store of your choice?

We also used Dizzy Dolphin in April and absolutely loved their service! They shopped at Publix and Trader Joes for us-they will go wherever you need them to go. I sent a very detailed list of what I wanted (brands, sizes) and within 24hours they gave me the cost. Very very easy to work with and friendly. They have a nice facebook page and will respond quickly to any private messages you send through facebook.
