We have done DL with our son 3 times, and have enjoyed it every time. My husband is ready to move on to bigger things..lol. We are looking at taking both boys (our new addition arrived Aug 2007) to WDW in Feb. I am curious to know what the weather and crowds would be like during that month. Also, with baby ds being only 18 mths, I don't want to be gone too long, so would 5 days be enough? That would put us away from home for a total of 7, a day to travel there, a day to travel home, and I feel like that would be long enough to be away, in a hotel with him. We would only be doing the 4 parks, no water parks or extra attractions like Sea World. We are flying in from Alberta, Canada.

We would be staying on site, probably All Star Music. For those of you that have stayed there, what were their play pens like? Would you suggest bringing your own?

Thanks Experts!!!

We are DL vets, with 2 previous trips to the World with little ones. I can't comment on ASMu, but we found the pack and plays on our first trip with DD to be fine. She was 15 months at her first WDW trip. We just did 3 days and 3 parks on that trip (skipping DHS). For DS's first trip, he was 3 and we did 6 days- first day to arrive and relax, 4 days in parks, and one day to leave. Yes, there was still more we wanted to do, but it was enough for our son. On both trips we took things at their pace, and had midday naps or visits back to the resort. One of the great things about taking an 18 month old, is that they won't be afraid of anything! So you can go on dark rides with no worry. Everything is wide eyed magic! You'll love your trip.

We stayed at ASM in the family suite. Loved it. It was so nice to have the extra room. The play pen is your typical pack n play, functional, clean, sturdy, nothing outrageous but good just the same. Our DD was 16 months on her first WDW trip. SHe didn't like the characters but loved the rest of the World.

I've never been to DL, but I few things that I can comment on based on my friend's recent experience - she's a DL vet that just took her first trip tp WDW.

She was not prepared for how big the parks were and how much walking they did. She said DL was a lot more compact and they were exhausted the first day or 2 at WDW.

Research the restaurants and have reservations in place long before you arrive if you want to go to table service places. (Standard advice here on the Dis) There is no highway that you can walk outside the gates and grab food as is the case in DL.

She tried to hit a lot of the parks/attractions that are NOT at DL since she's been there so many times before...so they spent a lot more time in Epcot and AK vs. MK or HS.

My son's first few trips he was in a pack and play and did fine. I brought my own quilted sheets and his blankets from home to make it a bit more soft and familiar...but the actual pack and play itself was fine. They also have bed rails available if your little guy gets to be too big for the pack and play.
