WDW for couples: Best Trips

I'm currently trying to get my boyfriend to plan a trip in May. He is not convinced yet;). What resort is best for couples??

Depends on what you would like and your budget. A child at heart couple or more romantic. And if you would rather stay somewhere with less children at the resort then others I've stayed at pop- which is more kids so child at heart feel. Port Orleans River side, the whole resort is very romantic but they have princess rooms which is a child at heart. The beach club was amazing. It's in between but can be romantic and club level was very nice! And it's wonderful to walk to Epcot or take the boat to Hollywood studios. Grand Floridian was very nice. Romantic and can have a view if MK fireworks every night. They even play the must on the dock. I hope this helps!

I agree with PP.
You need to research the resorts, find one that meets your tastes, some like one but not another, you will be the best person to determine your style. That is why WDW has so many resorts to meet different traveling requirements.
There are basicly 3 different levels of hotels/resorts:
Deluxe - GF, Poly, CR, BC, YC, BW, AK, Swan, Dolphin
Moderates - PO, CBR, CSR, AoA
Economy - All-Star
Then there are the DVC villas, some of which are attached/connected to hotels and some are stand alone resorts. There are four types of rooms with the villas:
Studios
1-Bdrms
2-Bdrms
Grand Villas-3 Bdrms

Thank you!! I dill check it out.

Depending on your budget:

Moderate: Coronado Springs.
Deluxe: Polynesian (but I would wait for the refurbishments to be done) or Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Luckily, my DBF and I are complete opposites when it comes to planning :thumbsup2 I looove reading the forums and planning what to do, where to eat etc (although not commando style) - yet my guy just tells me he trusts me to make the trip a good one, and he just goes with the flow :) I always make sure to include the things that I know he'd enjoy, even if I'm not that interested in them.

We had such a great time, we're going again in September :cheer2:

My main piece of advice would be to keep it calm and don't try to plan too much. We had one day where I wanted to fit too much in, shows, parades, meals - on top of general attractions, and neither of us could really enjoy that day together because we were just marching from place to place..! We laughed about it later, but if we had tried to do that every day of our trip he probably would never come to Disney with me again!

DH and I haven't done a Disney trip just the two of us, but we did go this past May on an all-adult family trip (no little one's in our family yet). One night, just the two of us were lucky enough to sneak away and get a reservation at California Grill at the Contemporary. If you're looking for a romantic Disney experience, I highly recommend heading up there for a late dinner right before Wishes and watching the show from the observation deck!

My wife and I have found that just being the two of us we can typically do rides over and over again quickly with the ones that have single rider lines. We will always do the ride once with each other, then go back around through the single riders line. It works out great on RnR,Test Track and ToT.

Another good thing is eating at ADR restaurants. We usually only get ADR's at places we have as MUST DO places to eat. We found it very easy to get into restaurants when there is just the two of us.

Another great thing for us is it's just you two. If you feel like sitting down for a drink or just want to relax and take a load off and people watch. There is no one pulling on you saying we have to do this or go do that.

I'm sure you will enjoy yourself more than you initially thought with just two people.

My wife and I visited for our honeymoon in 2011 and have visited every year since. I don't really feel like we need to do typically romantic things in order to have a romantic trip. We end up having the most fun when we don't have set plans and can just roam casually. I have definitely come to prefer going just the two of us. We don't have to worry about being pulled in too many directions and doing things we don't want to do. We always make sure to discuss before our trip so we know which attractions/restaurants are a priority. We do try to pick one or two new sit down restaurants to try out each time and that makes for a nice change up. I would suggest making FP+ and AD reservations together and getting a general idea of the parks you want to visit each day. Honestly it is hard to go wrong no matter what you do.

^^^This^^^. My wife and I didn't bother making ADRs for this next trip. As a couple we have rarely *ever* had to wait for a seat in a restaurant at Disney. At some of the restaurants we've just said we're willing to sit in or at the bar. That makes it really quick. This is SOP for us everywhere we travel or whenever we go out to eat at home. We haven't waited more than 2 minutes for a table in 10 years so long as it's just the two of us.

I've been to Disney plenty of times. But this October, my DBF and I have a trip planned and I've never been with just myself and someone else. With my family it's always been 4-12 people there.

So I would like to hear stories of how wonderful couple trips can be.

Wow, you are going to have so much fun as a couple. My hubby and I LOVE going to WDW alone. We are both seniors, and find it kinda romantic to stroll around at our pace holding hands, seeing things we have passed in a blur when with the kids/grandkids, and just enjoying our favorite rides and places.
A little background: We have always taken the kids/grandkids, up to 9 people at times, on our WDW trips and had a wonder, though fast paced, time. You can't be a wimp and go to WDW with grandkids:) Loved it, BUT one time we stayed a few days after all the family left and we loved it more!!:cheer2: Now we go once a year alone and still discover things we have never done. Each year we pick out something we haven't seen or done, or just ignored cause we thought it wasn't that good,, and we have found out that they have all been fabulous:cool1: We scheduled a trip alone in November this year, but daughter, soninlaw, 3 kids have decided to come with us, then the inlaws have scheduled a few days. It will be fun to be with them, all is good:rolleyes: But I must confess we will miss all the alone time. We do have 2 days set up alone, so that's great. You will have a great time:wave2:

this thread is great!
my DH and I are going to WDW in November and coordinated to overlap with another couple who are huge Disney people

Haha! We play the "surprises under X dollars" game as well. We play with $20s since we tend to buy stuff we want while wandering around, plus a $20 bill is easy to carry around. We always play in a big store, usually at an off-hour or while waiting for something else (like a pastpass to come up). Our favorite place to play is the large store in the front of Epcot. I love hunting up deals and specials for the season. We choose a place to meet when we're done and exchange surprises there. Again, Epcot is a great place since the large fountain is right outside the store, which always adds to my excitement.

My husband reminded me as well that we bought a whodunit book one year and solved them together in lines. Apparently he loved it immensely and has requested another for our next trip. XD

That's a great idea. My wife and I keep a change jar throughout the year and use the money to go out to a nice dinner we usually wouldn't be willing to shell out the money for. Also we use it get some souvenirs like pins or vinylmation characters. Last year we got some nice prints from the Art of Disney store to put in our bedroom and my wife got a pick a pearl from Japan in Epcot.

My husband and I went in 2012 and it was just the two of us. We had SO MUCH FUN together! We weren't on anyone else's time, just our own. You can travel much faster through the crowds when it's just a couple vs a larger group. You don't really have to compromise on anything (unless you're both complete opposites). Some nights we stayed out late, and others we were back at the resort by 4pm. It was a blast.

This time (in 2015) we are hopefully going with my parents but will have our own room and may even be staying at different resorts. We are actually REALLY looking forward to slowing down the pace and enjoying Disney with my folks. It will be fun experiencing everything at a different pace since we were very commando style last time. So, I think you'll love having a new experience with just the two of you!

This is an awesome thread! Love all the replies!

Our official count down is now 99 day! My DBF wouldn't let me countdown until it was under 100 cause thought if it was more than 100 I was crazy haha.

Also found out yesterday a friend of mine will be down the same time! Hoping to run into them sometime!

My friends went there and said it was so much more fun in epcot without the children! Going county hoping!

80 more days for me and the dh! Try not to talk about it too much in our house because our kids are dd11 and dd4, they are super jealous! Thanks for the post, I have so many people ask why disney!? What do you love about it so much to go without the kids!? We just do, I've been to tropical islands and cruises but they don't compare to the constant excitement and romance!

My DH and I went this year for our 10th anniversary. We've been a few times sans the kids and this trip was the best so far!

POP is not overly romantic, but it is our favorite value. We had some nice relaxing time and loved to walk over to AoA, or walk back after taking the bus back there at park close.

For romance, definitely check out renting a boat on Bay Lake or an evening stroll at the Boardwalk is always fun. My DH and I like to play the mini golf, and DisneyQuest is great fun for anyone who likes games. This time, we also sat at the House of Blues and watched a performer, which was awesome. We had never been able to take the time before.

Also, if you can swing tickets to MNSSHP, do it. It is just as much for adults as kiddos, and the parade/fireworks are fun.

Dining, we always like to try some new things. O'Hana is a family favorite, but this time we did Kona, and we are glad we did! We also tried Fulton's and San Angel in for some atmosphere. I loved them both, even though many don't care for San Angel. You can't beat the romantic atmosphere there! Just stop in for an appetizer and drinks. You'll be glad you did!

Hope you have a great trip!!!

Love your trip favorites! My DBF wants to do Disney Quest, I've done it and that's why we got the dining plan to get free passes for a day. He is excited from what I tell him that is in it.

We did get tickets to MNSSHP, I out him in charge of our costumes. He is still thinking on that, :goodvibes: I've done MNSSHP when I was 13, don't remember it to much, but I did go last year and loved it to much. Now I know how to prepare myself for him and I. The parade and fireworks will be a must. The parade has Pain and Panic from Hercules, his favorite movie. And since there isn't to much Hercules in the parks I know he will enjoy that!
