OK - let me first say that I understand how FP works. DH, and 2DD's and I have gone to DL twice and used it quite successfully. I also am a former CM at WDW, so I am familiar with the parks, etc., but never was there during the FP era (introduced right after I left to have DD #1).

However, we also used one feature at DL that we loved - we bought our tickets from places (Disney Travel and AAA) so that allowed us to get fastpasses anytime we wanted (for different attractions). So say we wanted to fastpass both Space and Splash at MK - we could just walk from one to the other (OK maybe not, but just as an example) and get them both to use.

Now, realizing that DL is a much smaller property, etc. I understand that this option might not be available at WDW, but thought I would ask the experts out there.

Any other "quirks" I should know about? I know that sometimes CM's will turn you away at WDW if you don't show up in your time window for your FP - where it never is a problem at DL. True?

Sorry for such a specific, detailed question - we consider ourselves pretty good "veterans", but this is a new twist for us and we know that the two properties have their own take on things. We can't wait to get the girls to FL for their first WDW trip (never would have thought that their first trips would be to DL!)

Welcome!

To the best of my knowledge there are no such perks regardless of where you buy your tix for WDW. If purchased thru AAA it is my understanding that they come directly from WDW and there is no savings.

We have never been turned away with a FP after the posted time, however they can if they choose too.

It is official that if a ride is out of service during your fast pass time window or has an unusually long line as a result of being out of service earlier, you are entitled to come back later to use your fastpass.

There was a brief trial at Epcot few years ago when you could pull two fastpasses in relatively quick succession, say for Mission Space and Test Track. (The third and fourth, the fifth and sixth, etc. would be subject to the normal delay rules.)

Thanks to you both for the clarification - I know it was a minor point - but an important one for us! I knew I could count on DIS'ers to help out!:cool1:

just in case you may not be aware of this, at DW you can only have 1 FP at a time unless you get the 2nd FP after the beginning of the return time on the one you are carrying (example: you have a FP with a return time of 1:15. you can get another FP at 1:16, allowing you to ride the first ride you have the FP for, and then go to the next ride). hope this helps!! :goodvibes

If two hours pass and the return time hasn't come yet, you may get another fast pass, for something else (or for the same ride).

So if the return time showing above the machines is way off, you are not shut out from the fast pass system all day if you get a fast pass "here".

I am 99% sure that when we were there in August 06 at the bottom of your fastpass it said when you were able to get another fastpass, and it was usually around 2 hours after you got the 1st.

We just returned home from WDW this past Wednesday and on our FP's it did state when you were able to obtain your next FP. So you may want to be careful when you get one, let's say you get a FP for Soarin and it's for much later in the day, you may not be able to get a FP for something else.

Also I did see several people get turned away for getting to the attraction past their FP return time and I saw folks who were made to wait because they arrived too early.

This may be a dumb question, but does everyone in your group need to get their own fastpass for the ride or can I get one FP and my whole party of 5 can ride at the same time with that pass?

You must each have a Fast Pass to go through the Fast Pass Line.:hourglass

Ahh, thanks - I figured as much. I love the idea of sending a runner - brilliant. We'll be using that tip for sure!

The only exceptions in my experiences are if you have children under age 3 (no ticket needed so no fast pass). Or if you are using a baby swap in addition to the fast pass. First group uses fast pass (leaving small children and adult behind). Adult left behind uses fast pass and can usually bring up to 3 people with them (but with baby swap the fast passes arent needed for other members). They usually give you a baby swap pass for this instance.

If I am remembering the 2nd scenario incorrectly, please correct me!
