WDW/DL Split Trip - How many days at DL?

Hi all,

I'm planning a split trip between WDW and DL from 10/30 to 11/5, and I'm not sure how best to divide my time. I've visited WDW several times over the past six years, but only ever staying for around five days at a time. In contrast it's been around a decade since I've visited DL, and I've never been to DCA. In the near future, it's far more likely that I will return to WDW than DL.

With this in mind I'm struggling between spending five full days at each, or six at WDW and four at DL. My main problem is that I don't really know how long it will take me to do both DL and DCA properly - which is why I have posted over here on the DL board. I'm trying to decide between Monday 11/5 - Friday 11/9 as my full days at DL or arriving one day later. Is five days overkill at this time of year? Or should I dedicate the time to DL as I'm unlikely to return soon? I'd really appreciate any advice or insight!

I think either 4 or 5 is fine but why not do 5 since you won't be back soon? Anyone willing to do ten days straight of Disney will find plenty to do in 5 days at DL. :)

This is exactly what I've been thinking. However I totally failed to mention that I'm visiting WDW primarily for the F&W Festival (which I've never experienced before), and I'm unlikely to return to WDW at this particular time of year in the coming few years. So many things to consider!

I was at Epcot for one day of the F&W festival last year. It was nice but I don't know if it takes multiple days necessarily? The food portions are small tastes. You could try a lot of things (budget willing) in a day or two.

For our family, 4 days is almost perfect *but* we haven't been to DCA since the opening of Carsland. I think 5 would be great!!

I would do the 5 days at DL. Because DL is awesome.

Ok maybe ppl will not agree with me, but if it were me: I would do 6 days at WDW, one day at each park with an extra day at Epcot and MK. Going to DTD or dinner at one of the hotels, after AK since it is a short day. Then 4days at DLR, but I would get park hoppers there since it is so easy to park hop! But that would give you 1.5-2 days at DCA and 2-2.5 days at DL. If you park hop that gives you best advantage to ensuring you get to ride RSR! That is just IMHO.

Remember that WDW tickets can be used at DLR, so if you're doing both resorts back to back you should buy the 10 day WDW tickets and use the remaining days at DLR. So much cheaper this way.

Thanks all for your responses. I've decided to go for the full five days at DL as I'm not likely to return soon. Just booked my flights and hotels and the excitement has already started to kick in!

I hadn't heard that about WDW tickets before, but that may be because I generally buy my tickets before leaving the UK. Is this true for 10 day park hoppers you buy on the gate or is it an online deal?

It should be work for tickets purchased at the gate. I know it worked on tickets I bought from Undercover Tourist.
