WDW COVID Testing

I'm in MD too! If you live near an AllCare Family Medicine Urgent Care (https://allcarefamilymed.com/), I highly recommend them. You can do a virtual visit with a doc anytime, tell them your travel plans, and they'll recommend a day for testing. Their Covid testing is drive-through and appointment only, so you shouldn't have to wait in line. I've used them 4 times since the onset of the pandemic. In the summer their turnaround time for results was about 3 days, but now it's down to about 24-36 hours.

Thank you for the tip! None of them are particularly convenient to me (I live in Anne Arundel). Although I have used the drive through at Merriweather once, which wasn't too bad. The CVS near me does pretty good, too. I have not had trouble finding places for testing. But my boss did point out the "relative stupidity" of a test at MCO or "3 days before I come back" as proof that I am COVID-free since the flight and exposure at the airport happens AFTER the test, so the test is meaningless.

Of course, he also pointed out that according to the rule as written, if I flew for the weekend, I would have to have my test prior to the travel at all - so what's the point?

I have not used it but there is one not far from AK. Maingate Complex and it is supposed to be quick with results.

Since it is now 10 day vs 14 days without the test in NY, I just did that when I got back a few weeks ago, I did test here after 4 days, but more so for hubby around the house!

When I go next month...hope to...I will probably do it because of upcoming appointments I will need to go to with my parents.

A négative test is a picture at a given time. So that is why in Canada we have to quanrantine anyway with the négative test . I would advise you to wait béfore seeing your parents and make sure that you do not have any symptoms.

I’m trying to sort out testing myself since we are around my mom who provides our childcare. Does testing at WDW/the airport seem sufficient for determining one did not pick up Covid? I know there is exposure on the plane but if it is sufficient I would really consider using the airport option. Only issue is I know it can take a few days after exposure to get a positive test. Sorry if this question is slightly off topic. There are just so many more logistics to figure out now.

You are right , à négative test one day can be positivé the next . We get tested every week with the PCR test ( gold standard) and one employee tested negative on the 23 , had a diarrhea the next day without fever and tested positive on the 25 .

I would absolutely do the 10 days if I was contacted about being exposed. But, to be honest, IMO, every day I am out and about in my community carries the same risk.

The negative tests just allow me to exit in 7 days with a little more assurance that I can..assuming I’m feeling fine.

Self swabing puts you at risk of false negative . For the test to be accurate you have to go deep and swab for ten seconds. It is not painful , but if your kids did not complain you did it wrong .

I am a healthcare worker . Not here to judge just giving the most recent information we have on the awfull virus. Every country , every state has a set of rules and recommandations.I will admit that I am a Dr Fauci fan .

Has anyone on this site done testing at or near WDW yet? If so, where did you get it done and what was it like (wait times, etc.)? Any feedback would be appreciated.

We cancelled our after thanksgiving trip but, my son’s family still went.

Our state required the negative test too We had ordered the self swab mail in ones earlier. We were igible at the time since our health department edict. Never did use them.

DS family set up in advance their testing at a pharmacy (Walgreens I think) on international drive They timed it to have the test in hand 2 days before returning home.

Waste of time, they still could’ve gotten infected any time Afterwards Imo rapid test pre boarding a flight is the way to go

FYI I’m not down playing anything here, two family members Recently Infected with one waiting for PCR test after rapid was inconclusive

Thank you for the info! I just checked and they are indeed...at terminal A. It is also $65 per test. Ooof. But reservations can be made, which is nice. The one thing to keep in mind is that the airport test is a rapid test, which have a high rate of false negatives (as well as false positives). But it checks the box if it is needed as a requirement.

The PCR test isn’t much better on accuracy.

But this copied below is for molecular tests, it’s a Harvard study. 20% false negatives 5 days after symptoms is at least 7+ days after contracting the virus. No test is even close to 100% accurate.
