WDW Commando Club

DH always wants a rest day on our trips. I always plan to give him one too. As I get deeper into the plans, it always ends up being a half day or less. One day, we will have a full rest day. Having two is a true accomplishment to me. I went full out commando when my DS was 3. He and my DH revolted, so I take it a little easier now. We always have at least one ADR a day now. That gives them a nice break from my commando style, and I love TS as opposed to QS. Leaving a park at 7pm and being done for the night is something DH has expressed interest in but we have yet to do. If you are doing it twice, I would count that as a mini break. Therefore, the non commandos in your group will probably enjoy that. I booked T Rex on my 180th day and still got a 9:30pm reservation. I called the restaurant directly, and it had a number of better times to choose from. I think they only give Disney a limited amount. If you have not already done so, call the restaurant directly for your reservation. Good luck.

Your right Trex only has a limited number of DP adr's available when Trex became part of the DP they were talking about that on a DP tread, I called on one trip directly and for the time I wanted 3pm they said that I did not need a reservation since it would not be busy at that time:cool1:, We have been there 5 times and only made a ressie through Disney once, this might apply for most restaurants at DTD since most of their diners are walk ups:confused3

Do you have there direct # for T-Rex

T-Rex Cafe #407-828-8739

Yeah I do. I was told they take reservations 30 days out. Do they take them sooner?

They also told me 30 days when I called direct

I booked it on my 180+ day (04/30/13) right after I hung up with Disney Dining. My arrival is 10/27/13, so the reservation was 182 days out when I booked it. My reservation is 10/29/13. I was told it will be under my last name. I will have to report back if I have any problems.

ETA: If anyone is there at the same time, please do not steal it, lol. I know you have all of the info to do so now. I hope everyone gets a reservation of their own.

Looks like you get to report back sooner than I can. Hopefully, we both have real reservations. Have a great time on your trip. We are staying at Poly on our next trip (not the upcoming one). I would love to hear more from you or follow along if you decide to do a trip report.

I will keep you posted! We are excited for Poly even though there will be some construction. I might do a 'little' trip report. I am new to the boards and am not as savy as most! Off to pack!!! :-D

Yay! Have fun. It seems like it was just yesterday that I learned how to do a trip report. If you have questions, I'd be happy to help. Wishing you safe travels.

Day 4 Legoland

Located about 45mins from WDW on the old Cypress Gardens property, when entering the park it was more then I was expecting, although none of the rides are really huge thrill seekers, they did have some cool ones for kids:thumbsup2, now if your kids like the Lego store in DTD they will go crazy here, they have a trading program almost like Disney's pin trading but with the little lego guys instead, my son was having a blast trading the Lego people (he got some really hard to find ones:thumbsup), They had a couple of Lego character meet & greets and a couple shows, one was a water show with lego people water skiing ( got cancelled a few minutes in due to a passing storm)

They also have a water park & you can walk through the old Cypress property's gardens (we didn't do either)
Also there was a area that had Lego cities of the world, Nasa, Pirates & Star War scenes along with a life sized Darth Vader & Darth Maul all built from lego.

They were offering a deal that you could upgrade your admission to a FL resident annual pass that included parking, so for a extra $16 a ticket it was a no brainer, since we can get back within the year:yay:

Now from what I've heard the will not let any adults in unless they are accompanied by at least 1 child under the age of 13:confused3

On our way out I got a text from my friend who wanted to know if we could meet up for a late dinner at DTD, so around 9:30 we meet up at Planet Hollywood and for a Weds at this time it was a hour wait:confused3, I guess since no park had a EMH that must have been why:confused3

None of us have ever been there before and it was quite good and reasonably priced, after dinner it was almost midnight so we headed for the bus and called it a day:rolleyes1

Next up Day 5 Aquatica & Seaworld

Next up Day 5 Aquatica & Seaworld

We have not been to the Legoland in Florida yet, but we've been to the one in California twice. I can totally see why you need a kid under 13 to enter. There is nothing really there for adults if it is like the one in Cali.

I think the Planet Hollywood in Orlando is the best we've eaten at. We had a long wait the first time we ate there, so i made a reservation the next time. The one in Vegas is not great, so once was enough.

If the Legoland in Florida is anything like the one in California, I get why you need a kid under 13 to enter. We've been twice and everything is for kids around ages 3-10.

The Planet Hollywood in Orlando is the best we've eaten at. After waiting a really long time on our first trip there, we made a reservation the second time. We did not care for the one in Vegas, so we will not likely dine there again.

Next up Day 5 Aquatica & Seaworld

I typed a long response in the app twice and it would not post. Summation. I get the under 13 thing and agree that Planet Hollywood in Orlando is good.

Ny wife has been a little upset with me, seems that when we got married I promised her we would go to Hawaii around our 10th anniversary, I don't really recall this (but I may have been really drunk at the time:lmao:)

I came up with a proposal that she excepted:confused3

July - August 2014 - 10-12 days at WDW Caribbean Beach

Nov 2014- a 4 day trip to WDW, I would fly for the 1st time as a practice run

April 2015 - both my wife and son will be off the same week so it's a 6 or 7 day trip to WDW

July- August 2015- A 2 week trip stopping at DL then to Hawaii

Nov 2015 - WDW trip

As you can see I'm a tough negotiator :rotfl2:, I'm willing to give some, as long as I'm going to get more out of it:thumbsup2

Sounds awesome to me. Hawaii is on my list too. When we do finally go, I am going to spend time at Aulani, so it will still have a Disney component. We went to Universal Hollywood in May, so I have given him his non Disney trip. Hopefully, that is it for a while. There may be a non Disney trip in April 2014. My husband's Mom is planning it, so I may not get to squeeze Disney in. I will certainly try though.

Day 5 Aquatica & Sea World

We arrive at Aquatica before it opens and with our pass got preferred parking:cool1:, This time my son was more then willing to try some new water rides, the 1st one he wanted to do is the slide that goes under water where the orca dolphins are:yay:, we did a few other slides but for most of the time we were in the lazy rivers & wave pool:thumbsup2

Around noon we left to go to Sea World got to park again in preferred parking and parked next to the Sheriffs Car, my son was checking it out and the Officer asked him if he wanted a tour of the car, what 8 yr old is going to turn that down:rolleyes1 So after he got to put the lights on we went into the park, we had a ressie for the behind the scenes Penguin Tour, this was really cool we were on the other side of the glass, we got to pet some penguins and take pics with them while we learned all about them, it was a bit pricey but my son really liked it:goodvibes

We went to the pet show they have and got preferred seating with our passes, after the show we did all the exhibits and did a couple of rides, at the end of the night we went to the Shamu Rocks show, and once again we got dead center preferred seating with our passes:yay:, this might have been our earliest night back at the resort, but by now we could use a couple hours extra sleep:crazy2:

Next up Day 6 we spend the day with our friends and pull off a ultimate Commando move the really paid off big time:cool1:

Aulani is where we are planning to stay, for the agenda of the trip we have to really work it out since my wife and I have totally different plans, she wants to hang at the beach and pools, while I have 4 things I would like to do

1- see the dry docked Black Pearl
2- tour the volcanos
3- explore a jungle
4- meet Dog The Bounty Hunter

I think I'll be lucky to get 1 or 2 of them in:lmao:

What an awesome day at Sea World. The Penguin Experience sounds fantastic. How nice of that sheriff to do that for your son!

Your wife sounds like my husband. He asks why we cannot ever take a relaxing vacation. I say that is called a staycation. Who spends a ton of time and money to travel just not do things you can do at home (swim, sunbathe, sleep, etc)? Not this girl! I have compromised a little. I told him he is welcome to spend as much time in the room as he wants, but I will be enjoying the day without him. That always gets him out the door. He wants to relax, but he hates the idea of missing fun moments with the family. If I agreed to stay in the room, I am sure he would be fine with never leaving.

Day 6

We meet up with our friends bright and early at Epcot for the morning EMH, we did TT 2x and got a Fp for later, then did Mission Space orange, then decided to take a quick nap on Universe of Energy:lmao:, then went to see Figment, then it was time to use our TT Fp and when we got there it was down, they told us we could use the pass anytime that day:cool1:

We then headed to WS did Duffy's M&G then had lunch in Mexico, after lunch started touring the WS, the kids wanted to do the Kidscot at each Country so it gave us some extra time in each country so we got ia few shows and a little Drinking around the world in also:thumbsup2

We were in France around 4pm so we broke off with our friends to go to our 5pm add at Shula's we were going to meet back up after dinner

We took the Friendship boat over to The S&D and I asked the CM on the boat if he had any Transportation Cards and he did, It turns out The Friendship boat was the new card:banana:

For dinner I had the 24oz Prime rib, It was AWESOME I ate the whole thing, my wife had the Blackened Salmon and she loved it she managed to eat most of it , but it was a rather large portion, That day was our 10th anniversary and I booked it that way, our waiters were well aware of it (you have 2-3 waiters serving you here), so the one came up to see what we wanted for dessert, we both said we were stuffed and didn't want anything, the waiter left and grabbed the other waiters, a few minutes later another waiter was putting forks down on our table, then a couple minutes later all 3 of our waiters came out with a big slice of I think it was Black Forest Cake dizzied with chocolate syrup with a chocolate cigar & chocolate dipped strawberry, with Happy 10th Anniversary written in chocolate around the edge of the plate, it was a chocolate lover's dream:worship: The waiters said they had to come up with something special along with the pastry chef since we didn't order dessert said there was no way we were leaving on our 10th anniversary without dessert :lmao:In our opinion Shula's wait staff (they are so nice there) and quality of the food is the best you will find on property:thumbsup2

We then took the Friendship boat back to Epcot and meet back up with our friends and the kids wanted to do Figment again, then we used our TT FP, and on the way out we did Spaceship Earth, then headed for the Monorail it's now around 8pm and we were on our way to MK with a 1am EMH:woohoo:

Next up conclusion of Day 6, along with a move only a Commando would probably think of:confused3

Commando on a full belly. That's the way to do it. I always like that extra special treatment Some of the places provide. Question: How was the price at Shula's compared to another steak restaurant at WDW you've been too?

Lol. A quick nap on Universe of energy!

Sounds like you had a great day at Epcot. Your dinner at Shula's sounds fantastic. Glad you enjoyed it. Happy belayed anniversary.
