WDW California Grill Menu Change?

Someone who was at WDW last week said that the California Grill changed their menu and the only appetizer now offered is sushi. She said the brick oven was broken for the flatbread pizzas and they are no longer available.

Does anyone know if this is true? If the flatbread pizza oven is broken, is Disney planning on fixing it or replacing it?

My family is going to WDW the 3rd week of April and the pizza is the only thing my children will eat at the California Grill.

Any help will be appreciated! Thanks

I'd like to know the answer to this as well. We have ADRs in May, and we love the flatbreads. Not sure if we'd go without them.

Sushi and flatbreads are not the only appetizers served, so I don't think that "no appetizers" would be entirely accurate.

It's possible the oven was not functioning, but I would think that would be a temporary thing.

I had a tomato cheese ravioli... no mushrooms of course, but according to the allears.net menu, there's a whole mess of stuff that would have nothing to do with the ovens and isn't sushi.

From allears.net:

Seared Loin of Rabbit - with caramelized fennel, truffled panisse, and herb game sauce $16

Creamy Butternut Squash Soup - with poached lobster, crisp apple, and Coriander-Lime Créme Fraiche $10

Roasted Baby Beets - with Mache, green apple, walnuts, Goat Cheese Crostini, and apple-sherry vinaigrette* $13

Hearts of Romaine - with roasted garlic dressing, marinated anchovies, olives, aged parmesan and croutons $10

Fall Greens with Pear - pear, candied pistachios, pumpkin seeds, Pt. Reyes blue cheese, and cranberry vinaigrette* $13

"Peeky-Toe" Crab Salad - with celery root slaw, avocado, Florida citrus, and tarragon remoulade $16

Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli - with sun-dried tomatoes, pesto, shiitake mushrooms and basil* $13

Thanks for the responses. We were there last May and they had a variety of appetizers that is why I didn't believe what this person said about the Sushi. It doesn't make sense. I was wondering if someone who was at the California Grill this past week had actually seen the menu or if anyone heard anything about the flatbread oven.

Thanks!

Wasn't there a kitchen fire there a week or so ago? Perhaps it was the brick oven and it now needs to be fixed?

I'm going tonight. Am there for the sushi anyway but will see if they have fixed the oven.

Bon apetit.:wizard:

I wish I was dining there tonight.:goodvibes

I'm glad to read that the problem might just be the oven. I read a post last night that made it sound like it could be a change to the menu.

The oven needs to be repaired. No flatbreads till then.

They don't have an "appetizer" section on the menu. They call it "first course."" Same thing. So it isn't just sushi.

Does anyone remember when they had a "Souffle" oven and they had a Souffle of the day. We had a Mixed Berry one that was so good.

Did you enjoy your dinner?

To the best of my memory, CG has always done it that way, right? A selection of flatbreads, sushi and first courses. The second courses are traditional larger entree choices.

We've always mixed and matched selections which is one more reason to love CG for us.

I sure remember the souffles as well as the instruction to order at the beginning of the meal. It would make sense to dedicate an oven to souffles. Was it a special oven in some way?

We were there last week and the flatbreads weren't. I had promised my niece pizza, so we had a few difficult moments. Even without the flatbreads, we still had a great time and wonderful food. Our favorite was the crab appetizer.

Anyone know if the flatbreads are available yet? Dining there in two weeks. Thanks.

Glad to hear the lack of flatbreads is just temporary -- we really missed them when we went last Monday.

I find it interesting that they are not back yet. has anyone asked if the oven is still down.

you can't open the oven until the cooking time is done. If you do, the souffle will fall. I'm sure that they took orders for souffles as soon as possible so they knew what they needed, and put as many in the oven at one time.

I don't know if they still have the flatbreads, but I will check when we are at the Contemporary the day after tomorrow(unfortunately to go to Chef Mickey's not the CG), if they are on the menu.

Was told back in March that they weren't on the menu because the oven had to be repaired. Seems like they are taking a long time to do it.

There were no flatbreads on the menu when we ate there on 12th. Just sushi and the full first course list.
