We are headed back to Walt Disney World in August and will be staying at the Boardwalk Vilas this time. Looking for suggestions to add to our “don’t miss list” for the Boardwalk. Last year we did get to Spoodles for breakfast, but that was about it. Any other suggestions?

Oh we also got to do Hurricane Charley; we are hoping to miss that attraction this year. :umbrella:

Make sure you hop on the Friendship Boat and go across to the Y&B Club side and eat at Beachs n' Cream. They have wonderful burgers, but even more wonderful (and huge) ice cream sundaes etc....you definitely have to try at least once!

Last summer we stayed at the Dolphin and some of our favorite Boardwalk activities were ESPN to watch our Red Sox play, playing games at the ESPN arcade, a hair-wrap for DD, mini-golf at Fantasia Gardens, and the character breakfast at Cape May in the BC. We also enjoyed B&C and the Dolphin Fountain for burgers and ice cream.

We'll be at the Swan in August!!! We're planning breakfast and dinner at Spoodles, renting a surrey one evening to cruise the Boardwalk and on another day renting boats at the YC Marina to cruise Crescent Lake.

Maybe we'll pass each other!

Goofster, we were there at the same time last year! Oh, and I see you're from CA as well. Anyway, I would also suggest Beaches and Cream as well as Yachtsman's Steakhouse if you get a chance. We stayed at the Beach Club and enjoyed both very much. Ooh, I'm so jealous. We don't return until '07. Have a great time! :flower:

If you don't have kids, or can get out for a night without the kids, check out Jellyrolls, a dueling piano bar at the Boardwalk! It's a lot of fun. The piano players are fantastic. Doors open at 7:00 (although you don't have to get there that early), pianos start at 8:00. If you see Scotty (tall guy with glasses), tell him Karen from Boston sent you :)

Also, if you have kids traveling with you, don't forget to check out Community Hall. My dd, 11, loves it there. Last August she wanted to go there everyday, rather than early into the parks!!!
We also loved being able to walk over to Fantasia Gardens for mini-golf. That was a lot of fun. Being able to walk to MGM was a plus also. Just remember, if it's mid-day...it can get hot.
We were there for H. Charley also. It really wasn't all that bad. As long as you can get to the resort and then get back home again...no big deal at WDW.

If you enjoy a nice breakfast, check out Fresh over at the Dolphin..... Spoodles used to be our favorite breakfast, but then we discovered Fresh..... It is soooo worth the trip.....

The other thing we love to do in that area (our favorite area to stay) is take a Breathless Burst from the marina at Y&B Club. It's a high speed boat ride that really does leave you quite Breathless!

Fantasia Gardens is really fun.

The walkway to MGM is glorious in the morning.

Walking around Crescent Lake in the early, early morning is Heaven to me. :cloud9: Just me, my coffee, the birds & a couple other early morning folks - a very beautiful & peaceful way to start the morning......

And, of course, walking in & out of World Showcase for dinner & Illuminations is really Magical.

The Cape May Cafe character breakfast if also great. We think both the character interaction and food are wonderful.

I also like taking an evening to just enjoy the entertainment that is out on the BW.

Hi Goofster,

We have always enjoyed the Bellevue Lounge (on the Inn side just past the lobby). Leaping Horse Libations at the main pool has nice snacks and beverages and great CMs. Get something from the Boardwalk Bakery in the morning and sit while watching the boats and people. Crumb buns are fantastic. We think that the whole area is just great. The Weyland Gallery is interesting.

Ah yes, Hurricane Charlie. We left the Swan that day for Universal. Have a most magical trip!!

I think we may need to extend our stay I don’t think ten days will be enough.
Especially if we want to go into any of the parks.
Thanks for all the great input. :cool1:

One of the best memories I had from our last trip was the Disney Fishing Excursion on Crescent Lake and World Showcase Lagoon. It's a bit pricey, but nothing beats being out on a boat early in the morning. It was a wonderful view from inside World Showcase Lagoon, and the fishing was great!!!

If you're up for that quick breakfast, hop on down to the Boardwalk Bakery. Very good selection of bakery items from bagels to donuts.

Brian
