WDW Bag Check - anything small enough that won't need to be checked?

Been a few years since I've been, and trying to sort out what I'll be packing with me in the park. If I have a cellphone-sized crossbody wallet/bag or a wristlet, will I have to go through bag check for either of those?

I wore a cellphone wallet crossbody bag last trip and they never checked it.. I always stood in line with my kids and their bags anyways, so I would offer and they would say it wasn't necessary. I would say it really probably depends on the person doing the checks.

Nope. We had a camera that was on a strap around DH's neck but had a "case" on it (really just a fabric cover that held a second SD card) and we were stopped and had to go through the bag check.

Yes, but if you have it under your shirt or coat and they can't see it...you can avoid the line. Mine is very small and literally carries my cell, credit cards, id, some cash. I carry my water bottle.

Thanks everyone. Sounds like it could just be up to which way the wind's blowing on any given day.

I can fit as much in my cargo pockets as would fit in my 'murse', including my video cam in it's case with a strap. Of course this doesn't by us much if wifey insists on bringing a bag which is usually the case.

A few years ago (before magic bands) I had a little credit card holder type little teensy case...I was pulling out or putting away ( can't remember which) our cards for entry at MK and got sent to the baggage check line. The security man told me very sternly 'any kind of bag...even a wallet must be checked"

I didn't argue...and if they want to be that thorough I'm all for it....but I did think it was a little silly....:)

Next time I just kept it in my pocket. :thumbsup2

Only if it fits in a pocket. Anything you carry that looks like a bag or container, they will check it. In my experience they will only let it pass if they can't see it.

Yes, for both.

Either my husband or son put my wristlet in one of their cargo shorts pockets. ;)

And if the CM sees them do it, or decides that their pockets look a bit too full, they can be sent back through the bag check line. I've seen them do it.

For bagless days, I have a pair of transparent waterproof cases that hang around my neck (one soft one for my iPhone, one small hard plastic one for ID, credit card, and a little bit of cash) and a water bottle I wear on a cross-body strap. I've never been sent to bag-check with these things, but that may have just been luck on my part.

They always checked everything including my little passporter pouch lanyard which cracks me up.

I always ask if they need to see it and they always say yes. I think it's not clear and easily seen into.

I can attest to that....I got tired of carrying my carrying my Walletbe one time and so my hubbs put it in one of his cargo pockets but it was a no go. Lesson learned. Luckily we know how to roll without bags completely now! I'm even gonna give the new Otterbox Commuter Wallet series a test run this year! Anything to lighten our load till we start havin the kiddos.

I know bag checks seem like a pain, but with all that is going on lately in the world I am so glad for them. :)

They never check my wristlets. I sometimes carry a very small crossbody purse, and they barely even glance at that. I unzip it, they look inside and see how small it is, and that's it. I've only ever had one person ask me to take stuff out so he could see inside more easily.

But, really, bag check is super fast anyway. I wouldn't make any special effort to limit my stuff because of it. I do pack lightly, though, because it's difficult to bring a big bag on the rides due to space constraints. Also, lugging a large bag around gets tiring pretty quickly.

Totally agree with this. While I *could* go bagless, it's more comfortable for me to have a small bag with me that fits everything I need. As long as I have the bag, I know I have everything valuable with me. That way, I'm not checking to make sure the camera is in one pocket and the cell phone in another and my keys in another, etc. My bag is extremely small, fits everything I need for a day in it, I have it unzipped and open and off my shoulder for bag check which takes about a minute off my day. I think I can spare a minute at Disney World.

In 2010 I was in the bag check at magic kingdom and a lady joked about having a gun in her purse to the cast member.

I dont think I've ever seen someone get handcuffed so fast.

they once had a gal actually go through with a gun in her purse. She said she carries the gun at home and she forgot to take it out of the purse. She didn't have a permit either and she wasn't from Florida, she was from Pennsylvania. She got busted.

FWIW, I crammed my small fanny pack (empty) in my cargo shorts pocket (which zippers) once, and the things that were in it (car keys, cell phone, ID and other cards) in other pockets, and didn't have to do bag check.

I can see it being luck, though, if I tried that again - i.e., a pocket bulging from a fanny pack might not pass every time.
