Ok, here's my question. hope someone has the answer. If we buy annual passes by phone they send us a voucher for when we get there and our passes start from the first day we use them right? but if we buy them now and aren't going til Dec 07 are we still elligable for passholder discounts now?

thanks

It depends what type of discount you are trying to use. If you're trying to get an AP room discount you will be fine, they MAY ask to see it upon check in and if you don't have one you will be charged regular rates (I was never asked for mine). I believe that you will need the activated card to acquire the other discounts i.e. dining and shopping.

Hope this helps,
Sean

Like PP said, it depends what your trying to use the discount for. The only thing I know of that you could use it for would be the room. Everything else they either ask for the pass or the code from the bottom of your activated pass. We had tried to get AP rate of MNSSHP one year but had not activated yet and they asked for the code. We were also not able to get the DDE Card until we had a valid pass in hand-they asked for the code too.

I think they do this because some folks say they have vouchers, but they don't (shame on them). Unfortunately, I know many people that would make ressies and say they had AP's and didn't and years ago they were never asked for them on check-in, but Disney got smart to that trick in the past few years.

I was wondering if I could use it to buy our Mickey's Very Merry Christmas tickets in advance?

You can buy those in advance anyway, so do you mean you are trying for one of the passholder discount nights? If so, you could try...we attempted to do that with MNSSHP when we had vouchers only and were told no-that we needed to provide the code off of an activated pass, but give it a whirl...the worst they could say is no. We bought our tickets that year at full price, IMHO the discount is not that great for the parties that it really mattered to us.

when you are on my budget EVERY dollar counts...thanks

I understand ;) Been there myself! Like I said, give it a try-the worst the rep could tell you is no. I've noticed that a lot of CM's are very inconsistent-some adhere to the rules strictly and others don't. Hopefully you luck out! :woohoo:

I just read a link off the the Dis Home Page titled--Discounts for Annual Passholders. That might be helpful for you.

I just received my AP vouchers in the mail this week. Before I ordered them, I called about the DDE, to make sure I could get it with just the voucher. I was told that YES, I could. I have also read that on the boards multiple times on the Restaurant and DVC Forums. I'll be buying mine this week:thumbsup2

I guess it depends on who you get on the phone. Last October when I tried getting my DDE card I was explicitly asked for my pass# on the phone and the form they send you for the renewal asks for it also. I've noticed Disney is very inconsistent on this stuff...I can see me writing a letter to them now! They really ought to be implementing whatever rules across the board one way or the other.

I have been able to use my voucher to buy both the DDE card and MVSHP AP discounted tickets in the past. Because I used my voucher, I had to collect my card at Epcot and my Halloween party tickets at MK, showing my activated AP in the process. As posted above, I think it depends on who answers your call. My philosophy: If I don't get what I want on the first try, I just call back and ask again. So far, it's worked for me.

I agree...just a pain to have to call back a couple of times, it would be nice if you could make your one call, take care of all your business and be done with it.

thanks for all your reply's...hopefully i'll get the answer I want the first time round....wish me luck

Yes I used the upc code on the back of the voucher to get the AP discounts  that I needed for the DDE and the Halloween and xmas tickets that I wanted :woohoo: as long as you have the voucher there should be no problem.
