It's taking me forever and a day to figure out where/when to eat in order to get adr. The two in Epcot I wanted are booked, LE Cellaire (sp) and Coral Reef. 9 Dragons is available as is La France (?). Anyway, since it's so close, do you think I could just go and take my chances-- ask some CM's when we're there for recommendations?
Thanks==always great help on here. :thumbsup2

I cannot say (and at least I hope) no one has honestly had a horrible time by winging it. Sometimes that makes for the best memories. I suggest that as soon as you get into the park, go to guest relations just past spaceship earth. Inside they have a stand that lists all of the restaurants and which have availabilities. You can pick what sounds good then and there and just book it from one of the guest relations CMs.

Honestly if you want to go to the show I suggest getting an ADR anywhere you can. This past week, those without ADR's were waiting up to 3 hours in line to get into the show, whereas with an ADR you are assured a seat and will get a better seat than those who wait for hours.

Actually, this past week we waited 30 minutes in line and got in both times we went - and a few people were admitted just walking up at the time the show started. However, doing this would make me nervous and I don't recommend it, if you really want to go! It looked like the first performance of the evening usually had the most people waiting to go in.
Side note - we ate lunch at Le Chefs de France and loved it! (Not with Candlelight Processional package.)

A lot of it depends on who the speaker is that night and how popular they are. Some of the lesser known ones don't have a big crowd and walking in isn't a problem. With others, you may have to wait 3 hours to have a good chance of getting in.

I've eaten at 9 Dragons. It's like a nice upscale Chinese restaurant. It tends to be more available because most people feel like they can get Chinese food anywhere.

You don't say what day you're trying to go to CP. That will make a difference in how critical seating will be.

We have ADR for 4:45 on Sunday in Japan and the CP show is at 6:45 p.m. We do not have the CP dinner package, just a dining reservation. I believe that you are offered special reserved seating with a Candlelight dinner package, correct? Will we have to stand in line for regular seating after dinner or is there reserved seating for ADR ? Anyone have any tips to offer?

From my understanding, you have to have the CLP Dinner Package to be offered a seat>>>hope that's right

We are going on Monday the 11th; Steven Curtis Chapman is the narrarator-it's his last night doing so.

I may try 9 Dragons or La Chefs France-thanks for the recommendations. I do REALLY want to see it, but early reservations start at 2:00 for the first show, 4:30 for the next; yes, I think that's what I'll try.

Does anyone know the location in approximity to Illuminations at 9?

THANKS everyone!!! :wave2:

If you did not book a CP package ADR, just a regular one, you will ahve to stand in the standby line. There are only 2 lines, one for those who booked the CP package and standby.

I did not book a package as this is a cheap solo trip for me and none of the tier 1 restaurants interested me. I am braving the standby line on 12/15. We'll see how it goes!!!

tamj - I liked Chefs de France for lunch. If you really want to see the show, get the package.

And Illuminations doesn't start at 9:00 during this season. It starts at 9:30.

OK, good information; I'll call later today and book SOMEthing, hope we like it and times are good to go.

Maybe we can catch the last one and then the illuminations before heading back to our first night at the GF. :confused3

As far as location, the CP is in the theater directly across from the American Pavilion. Lots of good places to watch Illuminations nearby. One of my favorites is across from the Italy pavilion, but sometimes that's closed for a private party.

If you want to chance it and do the stand by line, usually the first show at 5 is not as crowded as the later shows. Last Wednesday I was there, John O'hurley was the speaker. I chose not to get a seat, we just stood right behind the theater and watched, but the theater never filled up completely.
