Are the albums and scrapbook supplies that you can buy "only" at WDW worth the money? I've seen quite a few different ones on various websites and am always shocked at the cost.

Does anyone have experience with these products?

Thanks,

I bought the WDW 2006 scrapbook while we were there, but mainly because it was our honeymoon and I just had to have the album for the honeymoon scrapbook. I haven't used it yet, so I'm not sure about the quality and everything. One thing that is a little frustrating is you can't find refills for the scrapbook, so what I'm probably going to do is just buy my own page protectors and use them throughout so the scrapbook is uniform.

I don't know yet, but I am heading to the World in 26 days. My sister is taking me to the scrapbook store at DTD for a little birthday shopping spree, so I'll have an answer for you before your trip. I won't be buying an album because I already have one, but I am hoping for some cool papers and embellishments.

I walked out of the DTD store last October with nothing in my hands. I was really dissapointed. I can get more at my LSS and AC Moore. ALTHOUGH, I do want the castle punch, the DTD store was out

Remember that the prices on those websites ofter severely inflate their prices. I believe the albums generally run $25-30, which is a normal pre-discount price for a Disney album.

I usually buy the $15 kits, but not the album. (The exception being the Christmas album last year and the cruise album I'm buying in September)

Pre-discount price? How does that work?

What kind of kits have you bought and what came in them?

We are going to MNSSHP and I'm wondering if they have anything specific for that?

I think by pre-discount price, she means the price at a JoAnn's or ACMoore, before you use a coupon--I might be wrong about that, though!

They have different kits for different "themes"--most contain 6-10 sheets of paper (different in different ones), stickers that go with that theme, etc. There are several ones for Christmas, some for a "Florida Vacation" (not specifically WDW), some for Princess, birthday, etc. There is also usually one that is "year specific", and I think they had one for year of a million dreams, too.

For MNSSHP (or during that time), they had a 12 x 12 album that had the characters in costume as other characters (Pluto as Scar, etc.), and it said, "Give Us Candy Or Else" on it. It was really cute! :thumbsup2

When we were there in May, I bought one at the World of Disney (they offer the Passholder's discount), with Sorcerer Mickey on the cover. Once home, I opened it to begin working and found the prepared pages were not what i wanted. I am more free form in my scrapping. I used only some of them, and the rest are in a big folder to be used at some other time.
As someone else suggested, buy some paper if you want certain themes, but save on the scrapbook, and get it at J's online, they always have sales. BTW, have a wonderful trip. :thumbsup2

I have bought one for each of our family trips. I was surprised that this years is a 3 ring binder type. The 2003 and 2005 were both post bound types. They have held up well, but it was difficult to find replacements that fit. The new one is nice and probably easier to fill. It will probably fit more also. It was $28. They did have a couple different types. One was one from a couple years ago, so you could probably still find a post bound one if you preferred.

I have been disappointed with both the selection available and the quality. One album, I dropped the book and it fell apart -- no layouts were in the book. The other books, it has been really difficult to find page protectors that fit.

I believe it means the price in the park. Anyplace that sells the park exculsive kits just buys them at the park and then increases the price and sells them on the internet. The kits at Disneyworld are $15.00 and they have quite a variety but some of them you only find in specific places for example some hotels have them but only in their gift shop. Animal Kingdom has a pack that is only found in one or two of their shops. They also have 4 poarks kits and a thrill ride kit. One of the things I don't like about the kits is the white boarders on most of the stickers and frames.

Does anyone have any layouts they would be willing to post? I would be interested in how you used some of the kits.

When I went last year, I had BIG expectations for all the delicious scrapbooking supplies I was going to find at WDW. I have to say I was pretty disappointed. I did buy a really nice album, but that was it. Maybe it's more that what they offer doesn't fit into my scrapping style, but I just thought everything was overpriced and not really that cute. Or maybe too cutesy.

My suggestion would be to find an album you really like at WDW and buy the other supplies elsewhere. Or at least buy only what you really, really feel you can't live without. :)

i bought the MNSSHP scrapbook and kit (has papers, and stickers) I knew i wouldnt be able to get these any where else. I also bought the "trill seakers" paper pack because my DS5 was tall enough to do all the "big boy rides" So I wanted to make sure i got that. I also got some cute disney vintage stickers that came in a box that I was not disappointed with(i think that was under $5.00) A stich punch, and some mickey brads. I only got stuff that I knew I couldnt get at Michaels, joanns or ac moore. My LSS carries the mickey brads but since I have a disney visa you get a discount in the world of disney store.
Have fun - if you see something you like - get it. because you wont be able to find certain things when you get home - like the mnsshp items.

You found the MNSSHP in Downtown Disney, not in the park during the party? I've heard some things are party specific and can only be found in the park during the parties. It would be nice to look at things without the distraction of the party going on and get the Visa discount.

We were there in September (the week of the first MNSSHP last year), and they had the album in the parks (all day--not just during the party) and at the scrapping store and at World of Disney. :)

I have purchased several of the albums and kits. I have found the yearly kits great for 2 or more people to share because you can only put the year stickers in so many places. I haven't had problems with the albums. I always take out the page protectors out and buy some at the LSS so they all match. I am really hoping to find a Pirates & Princess kits or something. I will report back in August!!

Speaking of the Pirates and Princesses have you seen the new collection of from rustypickle.com?

You can only get some of the t-shirts and the pins during the party. All the other halloween stuff is out (antena toppers, etc.) they had them at the resorts and at DTD.

Although I do digital scrapping now, I used to do paper and have bought the supplies at WDW. I've bought stickers and page kits, never any books. Some of the kits and stickers are exclusive to WDW, so if you want things that are different, then get those. The trip to DTD exclusively to visit the scrapbook shop isn't worth it, you can find everything there at the parks and resort gift shops. And if you have the Disney Visa or AP discount, you can buy it at World of Disney for the discount. There are also some park/resort specific items that are only available at those parks and resorts, so if you want those you will need to buy those there, they won't have them at DTD.

It's worth it to get a few things, they will be extra special on your layouts, but get the bulk of your trip items from your home shops. I would suggest visiting your local shops and familiarizing yourself with what they have to offer (or the online shops too) and remember what you liked when you are shopping at Disney. See what items will enhance your other items.
