Trying to decide on our first table meal at WDW. We are staying at the WL, but would like to eat at either WCC or Concourse. Which would you suggest if you have been to both. :confused3

Concourse food is very good, but much more "grown up" atmosphere, great for a quiet lunch. Canyon's ribs fall off the bone, but it is far from quiet. I would say your choice depends on if you are taking kids, how much time you have, and do you have a car.

Thanks for replying. I have 3 girls (9,8,7) who are comfortable in 5 star restaurants as well as McD's. We do not have a car, as we are staying at WL. I figured we would take the water taxi to Contemporary if we decide to go to Concourse.

Do I need a car...or the like?

Personally I can not give you advise on this matter...because this will be our very first trip to the world...but I can tell you what we picked and why.

We were trying to decide between that same combination for our first dinner at WDW:teeth: And in the end we picked Concourse....just because we figured with it being our very first meal in the WDW area...and after the long day of travel a more relaxed, calmer place would be better (for our group...12 of us...6 of which are kids between 6yr-13yr)). But we didn't exclude WCC totally...were going there for our last meal at WDW.

We just got back - we ate at both. My husband & I like Concourse better than the WCC. We love the pulled pork at WCC - the ribs the night we were there was tough. Don't get me wrong - the WCC was fun atmosphere - very loud and noisy - kids definately love it. It was just the 2 of us and that may be why we enjoy both the food and atmosphere better at Concourse.

One place we loved for dinner that your kids would probably love too - Chef Mickey's. I know most people try to go during breakfast to CM but we loved the dinner. Food was good and lots of choices. The character interaction was wonderful for both adults and children.

Don't worry about taking taxi to Contemporary - you should take the boat from WL to Magic Kingdom - then either ride monorail or you can even walk to the Contemporary from MK. Have a great time!

You don't need a car to get around, we just find it faster and more convenient, and we like to go off site alot. We have visited at least a couple of dozen times, so we are never in a rush. If this is your 1st time you may not want to use so much time in transport. Is this for lunch or dinner? What time will you be getting in? How many hours will you have traveled? What time did you have to get up? Are you going into the parks this day? These are all questions which would impact my desire to travel to another hotel for a meal. I usually allow 1 hour to get from one Disney location to another when using their transport. As far as menu choices go, I don't think you can go wrong with either. If you are going for lunch, Chef Mickey's will be closed, this may be a good thing as you can see and hear alot of the goings on at dinner time, and the girls may be dissappointed that they will not be able to participate, Concourse is right next door with just a low divider to seperate them.

I also just returned and did both. Our children are 10, 7 & 6...they would have preferred going back to WCC...they had a blast doing the horse races and loved the ketchup gag....it is loud...so expect it. As far as food...I think the food for the children was better at WCC...the appetizers at Concourse were better. The entrees were pretty good at WCC...we are spoiled by awesome ribs here in AL...so they were no match...I would actually go with something other than ribs/all you can eat...their other entrees were wonderful and tasty. I think my son had the salmon and loved it.

If you just want a good restaurant to try near the monorail..we were really pleasantly pleased with Kona Cafe...the kids LOVED their dessert there and the fried shrimp was awesome for son and I had great teriyaki steak...I don't think you'll be disappointed with any of the options...

Concourse Steakhouse has very good steaks...I love the filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes, get it every time!

We went to both restaurants during our trip last month for the first time. We really enjoyed Concourse Steakhouse the best. The service was great, the steaks were terrific & they have a fun dessert for kids called the Artist's Palette, it is a great location (easy to get to from MK). We just loved it. WC on the other hand- I was not impressed with the Skkillet meal which I was really looking forward to, our server was way too busy with a very large party in his section and we were pretty much ignored. It was a fun atmosphere, but the food was just not very good. Plus, we were incouraged to not order all that came with the Dining Plan since it was "so much food", but forgive me but I felt like I had the right for my DD7 and myself to each get our own dessert even though we could never hope to eat it all and he kept trying for us to "share"- no thanks.

Not that this is helping but...

My favorite meal during our Aug trip was Concourse.
Both of my kids fave meals, you guessed it WCC.

Our flight from LAX left at 10am, Eating at WCC at around 8pm. We were starvin and WCC was perfect for our first meal. IMO the strength is in the quantity not quality(kids do not agree), and Concourse is more Quality. So if you are local and not that hungry do CS, if you are starvin WCC RULES.

didn't see this so sorry if it's a repeat.

you can take a boat from the WL boat dock straight to the contem ao no need to go to mk first. i think they pretty much just call it when you get to the dock. we do this all the time.
