WCC for shy kids?

Hello, I am having a kids vs. husband dilemna. My kids are 2 and 4 and while they will talk to anyone, they get kind of shy when people are in their faces or talking to them. My DH really wants to do WCC twice during our trip because of the food (we have never been there but heard good things). I am afraid that the kids will freak out if things get too rowdy.

What is another choice that would be family friendly and have great food?

I should note that Boma does not appeal to us.

Thanks

How about Trails End Buffet at Fort Wilderness? It's just a short boat ride from the WL, CR, or MK and they have the same sort of comfort food that WCC does. It's probably cheaper, too.

We are likely in the minority, but WCC was too much for us to enjoy. My 6 year old son hated it, fought back tears and would not eat. He could not take all the hollering and carrying on.... it was just too over the top for him at the time. He still has no desire to return stating that "I just don't like the noise." Again, his reaction is clearly in the minority, but I suspect he is not the only one and I believe his reaction has more to due with sensitivity to loud noise than to being shy.

If this helps, there is an area with a few tables (somewhere around 3-5) at the WCC that gets absolutely no attention when it comes to all that rowdy stuff. It's in the back of the restaurant and it kind of comes out into the hotel lobby, kind of like a back porch. We were seated there last year for breakfast, and all of us being adults enjoyed not having to deal with the loudness of dozens of children (although you'll hear it mildly, but you won't be apart of it.) Perhaps you can request to be seated there!

We have also learned that if you are there at lunch time (after 1pm) that it's actually not as rowdy nor as crowded. This disappointed us but might be a better suit for you.

Not a bad place.
Just back from WDW last week.
WCC....
We ate lunch - never was picked on.
The boy at the next table wanted a green crayon. Every child got up and gave him their green crayon.

When we ate breakfast our server just threw some napkins and straws at us.
That's about it.

I think it's a bit toned down. Go and enjoy.

We went twice when my kids were 1, 4, and 6, and they had a good time. We're returning on this trip because they liked it so much last time. I've found that most of the servers there can judge how to handle your kids. Our first night, we were wiped out from a long trip, and the kids did not want to do any of the stuff--the pony races or anything--and the server really just didn't act with them at all (could've been her, but I really think it was our whole tired demeanor). The second time we went, we were in a different mindset, and a different server was way into it too, pulling out all the usuall WCC tricks you've heard about. I really think that if your kids are shy and act as if they're not "getting" the jokes, the servers will pick up on that.

Thanks to all who posted... our ADRs are both at 2:40 two days apart (that was the only thing we could get that wasn't 8pm). It sounds like this would be an off time and maybe not as rowdy. DH thinks the kids will love it, but I have seen them react differently. DS (2 yr old) is very stubborn and if it is not his idea... forget about it!

I might still try to talk DH into changing one of the ADRs to Concourse or Kona. We'll see ;) He is getting kind of tired of me talking about it!
