My husband and I along with our two nieces (11 and 13.5) just got back on Thursday from a week's stay at BWV. Our youngest niece Madison celebrated her 11th birthday while we were there. I'd made dinner reservations at Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge because we'd had dinner there before (adults only) and the atmosphere was great for kids. Our reservations were for 5:00 and I ordered a chocolate cake at the podium which by the way was very good and a good size (we gave some to the table next to us and still had some left).

Once we were seated, our waitress (Brittany, aka Prairie Grass Skirt) came and explained the menu and took our drink orders. We ordered dinner and once our dinner was brought out the girls needed ketchup. Since we were one of the first to be seated for dinner, there wasn't any ketchup at any of the tables yet so our waitress and two waiters brought 13 bottles of ketchup to our table. She said because it was Madison's birthday she was going to make her a "princess crown" out of a napkin and straws. Said she didn't want the rest of us to feel left out so we all got "napkin" hats. Megan had a ponytail so she stuck seven straws in her hair and made her hold a bottle of ketchup - she looked like the Statue of Liberty! My husband had the four corners of his napkin tied - he looked like a pirate and my hat made me look like Peter Pan. Her names for us other than Madison were auntie, uncle and sister. My husband also had his sunglasses on his head - she took them and wore them on her head the whole time we were there. When she brought the cake out, she told Madison it was for her but she was going to have to work for it. She left the cake sitting on a tray close to our table and told Madison, "don't worry too much girlfriend - I won't embarrass you too much." Ended up she took both girls to the front and made them do the hokey pokey with everyone in the restaurant. It was great fun and Brittany went way beyond the call of duty to make it a memorable occasion for Madison. She posed for pictures and took pictures of the four of us with our "hats" on. They also did the other things you read about on the boards with the ketchup and the crayons. The girls couldn't wait to call their mom and dad to tell them about dinner.

So Brittany, if you read these boards, thank you so very much for going out of your way to help Madison celebrate her birthday - we greatly appreciate it and will never forget it or you! :cheer2: :flower3:

I'd also like to write a letter commending her - does anyone know where I send the letter to? Sorry, I know it's been asked before but I don't have time to back through the threads.

That sounds like so much fun!!! We had dinner at WCC last year, and our server was Hedda Lettuce (Suzanne, I think?), and she made it a great experience for us too!

Then I thank you for helping us have such a great evening! We had our trip pictures out the other day and my 4-yo was talking about the ketchup. I was surprised he remembered it!

We're coming back in November, I'll say hi if we're in your section again!

Thank you Cheshire Figment for the address and Suzannews for passing on my message - both are greatly appreciated. Seems we often hear about the negative at WDW, and as you can see by my number of postings, I'm a lurker but thought this experience deserved a posting. We were there for a week and had all table service restaurants for dinner and had great food and wonderful servers! We're fairly easy to please, but I think people need to experience the Disney restaurants and form their own opinions rather than read the boards and make their ADRs based on other's opinions.
