hey guys --- update on my motorcycle guy....he's in ICU and in very critical condition. They had a small blip in the paper YESTERDAY, but he is more serious than what is listed....broken bones, internal injuries, etc.....thank god for all his helmet was on.....he is 22 and she is 43.......the accident is being investigated and even though her car was drivable, it was towed.....

as the investigation continues, seems like all us witnesses saw something different. I could care less about that, I just hope he is ok, and I hope she is (mentally) as well.....just as a witness to this, I feel screwed up, I can't imagine being the one who caused it.


BUT.....there may be a chance to be an advocate of something here.......when we won both the basketball and football titles....a young kid from Venice, a student at UF.....was drunk, had other people in the car, etc and after the celebration.....plowed into a standing cop on the street killing him......so in that instant two families lives ended....yes, he was so wrong....no drinking and driving........but gosh....maybe around the whole stadium should be closed on game weekends - there are just people walking and milling about EVERYWHERE....maybe Gville should offer free rides (taxis, busses, tow trucks) on weekends. here at the beach on holiday weekends...the tow businesses will give you a ride and tow your car home with you. maybe I am talking out of my ***....two to four feet difference and that bike would have taken the four of us out as well.

anyway, please pray Jonathan is going to be ok!

Oh, you'll love that! Even though they are the same sq footage they 'feel' larger. You enter the room from the center...bath and closet off to one side, couch in the center and bed all the way off to the other side. There is a little more open floor space in this layout AND you get a steamer trunk, which regular 11's do not have. Cheri, Ian and Kathe all have one for the Tortola cruise, so you'll get complete reports. There are some pics of it on the virtual stateroom tour thread.

I'm waiting...and waiting...and waiting...still no email from DU. I was warned the email might take a little bit to get out, but I want to know NOW!!! I was at work all day, then had some errands to run, then had do go and vote tonight (federal elections). If I don't hear tonight I'll have to wait until late tomorrow evening. I work tomorrow, then my daughter and I are going out for dinner and her birthday shopping spree(we had to cancel this from last week) so I won't be home until later. Sure hope I can make the EB TA happen.

We had a good time and were distracted for a while. I would really like to go on the TA too. I was disappointed that I couldn't go and the Baltics are too expensive for me. I guess I will do the southern carribbean or move it to 2011 on a new ship. LOL.

& V... I lost 2 friends to drunk drivers... one friend left a 3 week old baby... Drinking and driving is way out of my range...

You'll get it tomorrow. I only had to put down $600 for me and John in a cat 6 and we didn't have a prior booking to transfer. We also kept our B2B and didn't cancel the second week. We did ok by DU. They also gave us a $300 shipboard credit. I'm happy.

I have to change the SR # and the dining rotation to late dining, but that's it. Then I'm good to go.....oh, and wait until 2010 and pay it off.

Oh I am nervous and feel guilty.

You see Ian's parent came over last Sunday and blah blah to us about the money as market is really bad, dollar money is not good, blah blah. Ian and I never told them that we booked for Oct 09 then change to Baltic.

They always like that, same with Tenerfie, they nag nag us.

We keep it quiet and we know what they like!!

Can totally relate. I think this is a really hard emotional time for many people. I hear the worse for the economy is simply to stop living...stop traveling, stop buying, stop doing things you would normally do. Of course we need to be prudent. But we can't stop living....

I had an email from our travel agent.

We are booked on the eastbound transatlantic, in a cat 11, Cabin 7009. The cost for both of us is $2,321 without the insurance and transfers.

I don't think that is too bad for a 14-night.

Not that airfares won't go up, for for April 2009, the one way fare from Dublin to Chicago is $306 USD, it is about $77 USD from Barcelona to Dublin.

Those are great pricing! I decided to add the DCL for now, but will shop around when we get closer. I forgot to ask Ian - do you have any restaurant recommendations for when we are in Chicago? Maybe mid-priced place? Thanks so much!
