You don't know until you try. You have no idea how many people tell me it's gross and then likes it.

I have a weird cheese rule, it is ok only on certain things, not potatoes, unless they are skins with bacon. The chesse rule is very hard to understand Paul has been trying to get it for years and no luck.

Holly congrats on the new job :thumbsup2

nite gaylean hope you feel better in the morning, hey did you tell us about work today??? or is that tomorrow???

Point well taken. I wish I knew how to make more things from scratch! But its kinda cool when you find some "packaged product" that tastes just like moms or grandpas! My Grandpa is gone and so are his AWESOME mexican reciepes!:sad1:

That's sad.. I have all the recipes from my grandmother and I've told everyone in my family they better be nice to me... or no more cookies at Xmas!!! ;)

Never had tater cakes.

Well, when you come to my mansion in the woods... :rotfl: I will make you tater cakes... with gravy... & bring V too!!! :cutie:

:confused3 No one said anything 'bout country gravy in a jar.And I use mushroom gravy from a jar. Basically a brown gravy with schrooms in it.

I make that too... :)

Oh, one more thing before I fall asleep. Tomorrow WILL be a better day because I get to GIVE MY NOTICE! I got a new job as a legal assistant and they want me to start no later than Oct. 1. I'm HORRIBLY nervous because I've only had one office job ever, the one where I've currently been for almost 4 years. So I'm horrified at leaving that comfort zone where I know how to do everything. I'm terrified of the extra duties I'll have at the new job that I've never done, like keeping the attorney's calendar for him. BUT.....no environment can be as bad as the one I'm leaving, so I suppose I'll be fine. And even if I hate the new job and screw it up so badly they don't want to keep me, the old job will take me back immediately because they always, always, always try to ask former employees to come back. In fact, about 2 years ago I got a job somewhere else making $2/hour more, and my current employer offered me more to STAY. I accepted because I was afraid of leaving that comfort zone. This time if they offer, I won't stay because I'm just burned out and need change.

AND....I'll have vacations! Sure, I was just given that perk where I am now, but I can't use until a year has passed. The insurance is better where I'm going because the plan at my current employer has a $2500 deductible per year (and they haven't started it for me yet anyway). The current job was going to give me one week vacation starting next year, but the new job is giving me 12 days for years 1-3, 15 days for years 4 & 5, and 21 days for 6 years and beyond. Only 50cents/hour more to start, but another $1/hour added to that after 90 days, so that will be $1.50/hour more total.

   GOOD LUCK HOLLY!!!)

Well why didn't you tell us that before? Go ahead and tell her off :lmao: Congratulations :yay:

Yeah... ya should have gotten fired... :rotfl2:

Going to bed before me. What's the world coming to.

Good night dear, hope you feel better tomorrow. Are you planning on working more hours tomorrow?

Yeah... when I'm the only one left??? :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

Hi Marilyn!!!

Hi Deborah...

& Hi Ian... (figured you'd beat most of us to the :surfweb: this morning...)

Good morning!!

Only 5 days till our hols!!!:yay:

Or try having giant salad tongs shoved way up there with little to no notice.

:scared1: This was my first post I read this morning!!!  I wondered where I was and had to go back a bit to remind me!
:lmao:

I'm off to bed. It's been a horrible week so far. More stress than I can shake a stick at. The good news is that the Intranet project I've been working on (one of my 6 projects and one of my 3 bosses) will finally go-live with phase 1.

A funny thing at work this week. I was telling the story of the canal digging in the back of the house.

I was out in the back of the house with a hoe digging a channel. A long pause and then I said, "A garden hoe that is."

Sorry about all the stress Ian. Not fun at all.:sad2: I guess we are in the language differences with the hoe!!!:confused3 Hardly dare ask though.:rolleyes1

It was a nice change for a couple days until all the lawyers started getting pissy because their stuff wasn't done. Then our office manager called me into her office yesterday because she wanted to talk about whether we should hire another person. I told her now isn't the time to talk because it was lunch time for most and I was the only one there to answer phones, so I couldn't sit in her office with the door closed talking to her. :headache: Then she told me to just sit down for a couple minutes, but I told her, "I can't I have piles of work to get through, I don't have time to sit and talk. The decision to hire somebody is yours, not mine". Because after all, she's office manager, so she needs to MANAGE. Her response was, "Fine, just go back to your desk! I'll do whatever I want then, is that what you want? Do you want to get fired? How would you like that?!" I told her if she'd just do her job, we wouldn't have such a high turnover rate with secretaries and wouldn't have these problems. Not nice of me, but she pissed me off.

She needs to get her comeuppance!! I'm always surprised at the type of people who end up managing others!

I can't even keep up tonight. That's just sad. Of course the kids are doing their homework next to me and I'm beating them....

You're beating the kids?

Good Morning

He said no it is on your computer and I realised that he put all the photos in card recovery!!.

Last night I got all back over 12,000 photos, logo, even :cool1: :thumbsup2 in every pages. Photos all mixed up so look like I have a big job to tidy it up!!

I am pleased now that all photos are there now.

Got phone call that laptop is ready.:yay: :yay:

Holly congrats on the new job :thumbsup2
Thanks, I think. I'm not sure how to feel. And I'm a bit nervous about giving my notice today. Any time a secretary leaves, our office manager totally bashes them, telling them "Oh, I don't believe you're getting paid that" or "No, you won't get those benefits, just wait until you start working there". She tries to get people to stay, and I do enjoy the attorneys, but won't stay if they ask because SHE makes the whole office environment unbearable.

I'm tired of her sharing personal information about other people's yearly reviews, even when I tell her I don't need to hear that stuff and don't want to know. She shares personal info about everybody in a variety of circumstances. She even told me the day they were firing one new associate. You know, the whole "Don't tell anybody, BUT......" They never intended to keep her on, she was a clerk through law school and when she passed the bar they kept her on just until they found somebody official to fill her spot. She was busting her you know what, working at home and not billing just to do what was needed to keep them happy, etc. Anyway, office mgr told me this because when they had the meeting to tell her she's let go, I was to quietly go into her office and take her laptop computer out and put it in office mgr's office. I didn't like being put in that situation, so I told the attorney. I'm SO glad I told her because she was completely shocked and cried, etc. This way she had time to compose herself so she didn't break down in front of the lawyers when they told her.

OK, enough babbling, I guess I just talked myself into being glad I'm leaving. I realize there are issues at every place of employment, but am ready to move on.

   GOOD LUCK HOLLY!!!)

Thanks.

Yeah... ya should have gotten fired... :rotfl2:
You know, had I known yesterday about the new job, I would have let her fire me! ;) But I didn't find out until last night. I had a 2nd interview and before I even got home, the original guy that interviewed me (the one I'll be working for) called me to tell me they want me.

Hi Holly

Please dont worry too much as I understand how you feel exactly same with me when I handed my noticed in at government office. They got shocked.

That is life.

Please do carry on and ignore what people say to you. Lift your face up and be positive and looking forward to new job.

Oh, I plan on sharing lots of info with the managing partner on my way out the door. :thumbsup2 I did get her into trouble last week for her lack of sharing info with us. I emailed her asking if anything was decided about who is working for whom since our last secretary quit 2 weeks ago and I blind copied one of the partners, so the lawyers had a meeting with her and chewed her out. :rotfl:

Nope, no more long hours those days. The new place doesn't allow for that type of accommodation, which means I just lose that time with Tyler on our days together. Not sure how that will be, but most other parents do it, so we'll manage.

Good morning Deborah! I'm so happy you got all your photos back! :woohoo: You have quite a job ahead of you sorting them all, but it's great news!

Glad your laptop is ready!

Yes, I got a new job, thanks.

Thanks Deborah, that helps. I know I worry too much. The bad part is that I really like all the lawyers I work for, especially the 80 year old one. Tyler really likes him a lot too, so we'll have to try to visit him sometime. Might stop by his house one day after work and surprise him with cookies or something. :thumbsup2

I would really love to just NOT give notice and tell her tomorrow is my last day. The new place will let me start on Monday. That would server that nasty office manager right! :rotfl2: But I couldn't do that to the lawyers.

That is great news:yay: :yay:

I wish I look for something new job as get fed up with my work :sad2:

You could look for something too! :goodvibes I've actually been looking and interviewing for almost a year. We have such a high unemployment rate here in Michigan, I heard on the news last night it's 8%, so there are lots of other people out there looking for work too. Close to 100 applied for the job I just got, but they only interviewed 7 people.
