I guess Tyler still gets stressed and these things happen. First day back at school can be stressful. I will be thinking about him today and hope and pray for a better day for him(and you:hug: ) Hopefully it is a blip along his general road of improvement Holly.

Thanks Marilyn. If he has a good day today, that's already an improvement from last year when it was rough every single day. I asked him before bed last night and this morning as I dropped him at school what his teacher wants him to try to remember today. He told me "to raise my hand in class and to keep my hands and feet to myself". He remembers, so here's hoping he can do it. :thumbsup2

Thanks Holly!

Love MAW! Great cause. Will now have to see if there is one near me (I know the one at the Crossroads closed).

Holly - let us know how today goes for Tyler. First day is always stressful even knowing that you have some friends in your class (I used to hate the 1st day of school).

He just needs to get back into the swing of things...I know he'll get better.

Give him hugs for us and let him know that we're pulling for him.

I think it's great that he can remember what he's supposed to do - 1 step in the right direction :thumbsup2

Thanks Monica. Good thing is his teacher is giving him the first week to adjust, and then she'll start doing some sort of behavioral report every day. She says kids also do a lot of testing their new teacher each year to see what the boundaries are.

SO true!!

I'm going to have to do some legal research this week. I just found out that when a holiday falls on the days I work 7am-5pm, I don't get paid for my regularly scheduled hours, but will only get paid for 7.5 hours (because that's what our normal full time day is). In order to make up the difference, we're required to use our personal hours (we earn 5 per month). That does NOT sound right at all. It seems that it should be that on a holiday, you get paid whatever your normally scheduled hours are that day. Otherwise, on Mon-Wed when I work 6.5 hours/day, should they pay me for 7.5 hours on holidays to make it the same as what others get paid? No, of course they wouldn't do that. I need to find research to back up this argument because it just doesn't seem right.

spa and rum and coke are fine, just not wasting *my* time diving. I'd rather sleep :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
linkie please

she will wake you when she comes in from diving...

I used to read soooo much, but haven't for years. I used to get into a book and nothing ever got done!!!(Now I do this and nothing ever gets done!!:lmao: )

I have to go into town for some shopping and things, and then there is the cleaning etc.:headache:

John is home at the moment doing some work on the house outside, but he has to go into work soon.

I took 2 books to TX... came home with 2... :headache:

Missed this earlier.

I had noticed one or two comments about this. We didn't have too much trouble on our cruise. We did have some door knocking and running away(but that could have been Nan and Gaylean:rolleyes1 ) and some moving of door decorations, but nothing bad. I guess there were more kids/teens on this cruise. Whenever I saw teens they were well behaved and polite.

I heard about the kid who climbed up on one of the elevators... And the kids who were knocking on every door on deck 6 because that is where Aly and AJ were staying. I heard that there were lots of groups of kids running around...

I think we had the much better cruise and would book May again in a split second... I heard we had much better weather too!!! :woohoo:

well

you

know

M E N are hopeless:rotfl:

My husband told me that he don't want to go to Med 2010 if same place:sad2: He said that he thought that excursion was very expensive but I said we can stay on the ship anyway. Oh well wait and see 7 October then I am counting the days now. I feel that it will be Med because why open date Oct as last time was in January?

He want go to caribbean - I said but but next year will be Caribbean.

U know what I am saying - Typical M. E. N. ::yes::

I told him about Alkaska maybe in 2010 - he laugh at me:confused3

He said that office based at London and he feel that old ship will stay in Europe and we can go anytime. MEN huh.

Today I went to school to look around as it is a lovely place.

Lovely day today too.

Scottishwee35

Deborah... tell him he's going with us no matter where we go.. ok???? :thumbsup2

It was just a few comments here http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1923501&page=84 and I think on Andew Derek's trip report thread too. Apparently disembarkation had some problems too. Sounds like their's was as bad as ours with standing in line.

.

I wonder how many of them lost luggage...

I heard 2 things... there was a criminal charge being made and they couldn't clear the ship until they found the person and the most obvious... there was twice the amount of luggage to get off the ship...

Everybody please wish Tyler good luck today having a better day than yesterday. It didn't go so well for him. He was quite physical with other kids. And he just can't remember to raise his hand in class instead of just yelling out. But that second part isn't really anything to worry about, that will just take getting used to. The physical part, however, is what we've always had to deal with in group situations. Good grief!

His dad was making excuses and told me he's not surprised he had a rough first day. I told him that's no excuse, he was excited to see his friends and told me he really enjoyed school, so he should have had the same good day all the other kids had. It's just dad's denial poking out again.

Then he countered with, "Maybe we should have the doctor put him on something to improve focus." :confused3 Well, that has nothing to do with what was happening and he actually has good focus when doing schoolwork. Some men are clueless.

Holly...it's the first day... keep reminding him and tell him we are all :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: for him!!!

Here's a few of the things they were saying about the EB ... (just in case you didn't read these over on the other threads...)

The kids and teens. A couple of nights ago a kid was found on top of an elevator! Yep, on top. I'm in cabin 2566 Midship right out side Ocean Quest and they hang out in the hall way. Playing games in the elevators. If there are teens in the elevator and they see adults walking to it they press the close button. I stopped some of the kids a couple of times from closing the doors on adults. Even Christiaan made an announcement Saturday about kids lottering in the stairwells and hall ways. Oh and the lifestyle portraits, the kids stand in line, take up the photographer's time with different poses so they can see them in Shutters.

There were tons of kids in the internet cafe and promenade lounge just goofing off and being loud and climbing on tables and such at 3:15am on the last night! I know because I went down to print out our boarding passes. I was amazed- because some of those kids were about my son's age (around 10yrs old if that) -some were older... but some were so young I was shocked they were still up that late and running around the ship at that time of night! And I thought my oldest coming in when the stack closed at 2am-2:30am everynight was late enough.... geesh

We didn't see too much blatant misbehavior, although we did run into teens clogging up the stairwells as they used the stairs for chairs quite a few times. I have a simple way to handle that. I just yell, "Coming through" and if they're smart they'll take that as fair warning.

One day a group of tween discovered the secret aft stairway and were back there between decks 5 and 6 screaming up a storm. Constant yelling for 20 mins. till I thought their throats had to be sore. That was enough of that...I called Guest Services for someone to shag them away because I treasure the quiet of that area and was not about to let that become know as a tweenie hangout. Getting rousted once did the trick...we never heard them there again for the rest of the cruise.

he tweens were definitely a rowdy bunch this cruise. I heard the screaming deck 5 forward so they must have moved my way after they were busted aft!!!

All I know I posted yesterday while we were waiting to get off, I was told by another passenger, ( one person- so unconfirmed) that the delay getting off was caused by a missing foreign national who was later found and escorted off, and I didn't post this yesterday, but I was told at Gunpoint.

Yesterday I thought it was best not to post the 'gun' as it was 'unconfirmed' but as a few similar posts have appeared, I can clarify thats what I was told.

yes some of the kids were bad on this cruise. a few times i go to get on the elevator all the buttons are pushed for every floor. hanging out in the stairs all the time. lets not forget about the parents taking their kids to cove cafe. and the nightclubs past 9 oclock, the workers should of said something.

I posted this elsewhere but thought you might be interested:

According to 'Cruise Junkie':

September 1 - Disney Magic

Disney Cruise Line From a passenger: Hi...just got off the 15 day cruise from LA to Orlando, through the Panama Canal. Great cruise!! About 6 nights ago, however, there was a "Bright Star" call over the ship's PA directing crew to "deck 4 midship". When I asked a crew member what this meant, they sort of shrugged it off. I asked our room purser the following day and he told me that someone had tried to "jump off the ship from deck 4". The person was stopped and taken off the boat the following day while at port in Aruba. Also...when we docked, the boat wasn't cleared by US customs for a about 3 hours while they searched for a single missing foreign born passenger on the ship. Otherwise...great trip on a great cruise line!

Hey I did notice that will all that stuff they were talking about... NOBODY noticed Bubba and V trying to sneak on board in PV!!! :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

Perhaps DCL needs more roaming security CM's to catch the kids.:confused3 Though then I guess it would become a game.

Parents should be made accountable though somehow.

So are you home now Michelle?

Are you going to WDW in December?

Have you booked the Sept 12th Cruise to Tortola next year yet?

Yes...

Will let you know in a couple of weeks...

Still trying...

(:rotfl: )

Gaylean's week in review or maybe two weeks

Brooke started first grade. She loves it and her teacher loves her (of course  ). I went to Back-to-School night last night and the teacher informs me that she falls asleep everyday in class :scared1: . Now I know first grade is hard and I also know she is as cute as pie but I'm telling you right now if Ethan would have done that the teacher would not have been so nice. Why do teachers and people in general treat her so good? Believe me she's not an angel. I had the same thing happen last year. She got all Outstandings on her report card yet her scores in reading were lower than Ethan's were in kindergarten and he got all Satisfactories . He could read a Dr. Suess book by the time he left kindergarten and she still needs pictures, which the teachers say is normal but why would he get an S and her an O :confused3

The teacher also tells us she is pregnant and she will leave in January only to return before the end of the year. I know teachers are people too and they get pregnant but why would she come back after the kids have already gotten use to another teacher :confused3 She's due in February so if she only takes ten weeks off she'll barely be back before the end of the year.

Wait I'm not done.

My fingerprinting hasn't come in yet. I went on Friday. They said it would take 2 hours to get the results. I've been calling them all week. They told me that there was something wrong with the billing and kept having me call the HR department at the school district. When I would call them they would say that the BIL number was right and then I would have to call fingerprinting agency back and I would get someone else who didn't know a thing  I'm surprised I still have a job. The fingerprinting agency called today and told me to come in again because they lost it  This is not a short process. You have to wait in the waiting room forever to get in.

Wait there's more.

I'm not sure if you all know this but right after the cruise our phone and TV were out for awhile. When I was trying to get it fixed they assured me that the bill would reflect this. I got a bill yesterday that was higher than normal. So I call and talk to a lady that tells me not to hang up because it is really busy and she has to contact the tech department. I was on hold for 2 hours. I finally hung up and called back because I had to go to Back-to-School night. I get this lady that is a real winner. She actually gets back to me quickly but when she does she tells me I'm getting refunded only for 10 days and only for the phone and not the TV :confused3 I said that couldn't be right and she said it is. I said I needed to speak to someone higher than her and she said who. I said someone that was going to help me. She said I'm going to refund you for ten days. I said no, you will get me a supervisor. She says no, I'm going to refund you :scared1: WTH is that? Finally she agreed to get me a supervisor. I guess she thought being mean and giving me the same info over and over was going to make me happy :confused3 I sat on hold for 30 minutes waiting for that supervisor until I had to hang up. I guess I'll have to call back today

Wait....

My back is hurting really bad through all of this.

And the weird news:

Before they even called me back for my fingerprinting they asked if I wanted a higher job :confused3 They want me to be an aide in special day class
It is for 6 hours a day at my kids school and the pay is a lot more. I'm not sure I can handle it so I'm not sure what is going to happen yet but it is strange.

I think that's it but I'll think about it and let you know.
