Well, there are good things to do locally - I'm looking forward to some of the music that is coming to SPAC this summer and I'm hoping to take mom to Tanglewood because the Boston Symphony is going to do "Porgy and Bess" and it is Mom's favorite... we are such Gershwin fans!!!

Oh and Barry Manilow is playing at Spac in August... Steely Dan is at Tanglewood, and I'm sure something else will pop up...

Tonight Mom and I went down to Jack's for dinner - just needed to get out of the house. The US Waterski team performs by Jack's. It is pretty amazing to see them do all the stunts, etc. I'm going to go back next week maybe and see them again.

this is what they look like... at 1:30 they do the pyramid... they tried it tonight but 3 of the skiers were knocked down and they had to improvise...

they do this ever Tuesday in Summer

Hello all!

Madly trying to get the house in order to be able to welcome Dad on Friday. That is, of course, if he's able to get out of Argentina. That volcano in Chile has been cancelling flights left & right. Ash has reached Buenos Aires & has gotten into Uruguay as well. We'll wait & see.

Nothing much going on here w/ me.....working at work, working on the house & trying to get some reading in when I can. I just finished The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo (by Steig) and started 44 Charles Street (by Danielle Steele). Definately a different book than the previous....mindless reading now :lmao:

so....IF Dad makes it here in time for Father's Day....where do I take him for a meal?

Benihana
El Tampana (great mexican spot)
Wolfgang Puck Express
Lonestar
Pepperon' (great Italian place near my house.....remember this, Maz?)
Sweet Tomatoes (may just go here on another day)

Open to other suggestions......

I'm a Benihana fan... but that's just me.....

I'd think of WPE... but it might be super busy at DTD over the weekend...

You know him better... what does he like?

It's STRAWBERRY season!!!!

Stopped at the farmstand and got myself a nice QT of them. I should be turning a nice shade of red in about a week from all the incredible wonderful sweet berries I'll be eating... :goodvibes

We had an awesome weekend. Although realizing how small the family has gotten is very sad. It was just me, John, my brother, Casey and Brittany.

We had Greek/Italian dinner out on Friday night. Saturday was the graduation in William and Mary College in Williamsburg at an indoor arena that was airconditioned.....YEAH! Then we went out for lunch at Hooters. That evening we wanted to do a pool party/barbeque.....but the heavens opened up and rained us out. Casey and Brittany went in the pool....it was indoors and we ordered in pizza instead of the barbeque. Then Casey got to bring home all the food that we didn't eat, but already had for the barbeque. It really was a nice time just spending it together. We didn't see Jane. Well, John did when he went to the bathroom, but the rest of us didn't. She sent a copy of Casey's senior picture....one for me and one for my brother. That was nice. I sent her copies of the pictures that I took of Casey. We were very polite and civil to each other thru email. So all is good. It worked out fine and we had an awesome weekend. The biggest surprise was seeing my brother's hair. It's completely white!!!! I knew he dyed it in the past, but I didn't know he went that white. It was a surprise. But it looked good.

This weekend is Father's Day. Me and John are going out to dinner with Ray. The kid will be on vacation with his mother.....so he will miss father's day with his dad. How rude! But oh well.

Then we have a clean schedule for the summer. The next outing is Food & Wine Festival at Epcot in Sept for our anniversary. We are not going to be able to do Niagra this summer. John just doesn't have the time off and he says he needs a rest from travelling. He needs to build up more vacation time. So we'll stay local and see what there is to do.

Deb, I'm so glad you had a great weekend! :goodvibes Casey deserves a wonderful time. :thumbsup2 Don't worry about the family getting smaller, small is cozy! :cloud9:

Sorry about Niagara. I can only do it if it's towards the end of August, because Tyler and I are doing our trip up to the U.P. in MI in July, and I think Kathe said that August doesn't work for her, if I'm remembering correctly. I've been promising him this trip up north for about 3 years now, so I need to make it happen now. He's been waiting so patiently every summer. :thumbsup2

Oh no! I hope he's able to make it! Boy, I must be really out of the loop. First, I hadn't heard about the fires in Arizona until seeing you mention them here, now, I haven't heard about that volcano, so I'll go read about that. How am I missing stuff? Geez!

SO STINKIN' BUSY! I thought life would slow down a bit after the flurry of getting ready for Tyler's party, but not much. Can't remember what we did Monday, but yesterday was grocery shopping and then karate for Tyler, tonight we stopped home quickly for supper and are now off to go see a movie (Kung Fu Panda 2), then tomorrow I have to clean the guinea pig cage after work, then rush Tyler to karate after supper, then we leave super early Friday morning for Cedar Point. We'll get home super late Saturday, well after midnight probably, then as soon as Tyler gets picked up Sunday for camp, I'll head out of town for Fathers Day and 2 birthday celebrations. MONDAY I can relax! :thumbsup2

Morning!

why am I up so early?

no clue....

I DID go to sleep... wasn't there for long...

had my breakfast.. Fruitloops and a nice cup of tea...

Just checkin out on what I missed in the last couple of hours... :dance3:

Time to go back for a couple of more hours (or so my teddy bear tells me...)

... will finish planting the garden today! :flower3: 2 different kinds of tomatoes, 2 kinds of peppers LOTS of basil & a cute little habanero plant (no.. I don't expect to try any of them, but I do have people in my life who will eat flesh burning foods... :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

I'm awake again!!! (and apparently talking to myself... :rotfl2:)

How's everyone today???

Are you getting excited.....it's almost Friday!!! How is the volcano in Chile? Is it still cancelling flights? Will dad be able to get here on time? I hope he has an easy and uneventful flight.

Thanks Holly. We did have a good time at least.

I'm sorry that it's not going to work out this year. There's always next year or another time of the year. Where exactly are you going with Tyler? Is it on the lake? I keep seeing Michigan vacation spots on TV and it looks so beautiful. Have fun!!! Post pics on FB. I'll be looking for them.

OK, Heather told me I can spill.........she won't be working hospitals anymore, she got a job as head nurse at an urgent care center and it's GREAT because it will be less physical, better hours, and something she's been wanting. :goodvibes Just can't mention it on FaceBook because she's not giving notice at her current job until Tuesday and there are people from there on FaceBook.

As soon as she posted on FaceBook about having a secret, I just knew it was a new job because I know she's been trying to get something new for a while now and has been unhappy where she currently is. YAY HEATHER!!!!!

:woohoo::yay::woohoo::yay::woohoo::yay::woohoo:

Hi Holly

Tell Heather I am so pleased for her and congratulations...
