Deb... you are all invited... the decision has bee made... I'm staying home. :headache:

There are a few local things I can do - I'd like to go to the Blue Mass on the 21st... If you've never heard of it, it's also known as the "Darkest Night" and it is a service for those who are going through difficult times and not into the Ho Ho Ho kind of Christmas. I've been to it before and it is very nice.

& then if I'm up to it, I'll go to mass on Xmas eve...

But I've decided to make my lasagna and sit and watch every Xmas movie I have - especially the ones that drive mom crazy... ;)

:grouphug: I'm sorry Michelle :sad2:
Curling up in PJ's watching movies and eating fudge does sound awfully tempting though ;)

Here is this mornings update from John:

Marilyn is still not too good and still in pain. Still being monitored closely and having tests, no food and bed rest. In a rare lighter moment yesterday she said at least she will now loose some weight for Christmas!

Poor thing no fun to be sick and in pain. Prayers to Marilyn from us all :grouphug:

:grouphug: Hope Marilyn starts to feel better soon.

Popping in to say hi and ask for some pixiedust!
I've continued applying for jobs, and have actually got a phone interview today. Its for an entry-level job in a big accounting firm. I had Nan's voice going off in my head as I did the cover letter to sell myself and it worked well enough to get an interview :cool1: Now it may go nowhere, but I feel good to have gotten this far!:goodvibes

Sending pixie dust Shannon :wizard::wizard::wizard:

I went MIA from the computer this weekend, but had a great time.
We went to Prince George for the weekend and got the Christmas shopping done. I had a girls night on Friday and went shopping with my sister, Ken's sister and Baby Emily (6months old). She was a sweetie, and her mom is so funny as she is quite nervous to let the baby out of her hands and sight. :lmao: Saturday Ken & I went shopping while the kids visited with their aunt & then grandparents. :thumbsup2 Sunday a bit more shopping before we headed home. Kaleigh went to a year end party for her soccer and Santa was there. Unfortunately, she ended up not feeling well and having a fever for the evening. Today is a Daddy-day for the kids, and its so cold -33C (-27F) this morning, that we kept Shaelyn home from school. Wish I could have stayed home all day with them, but I'm here at work.

:grouphug: to all who need them.

Deb - I totally understand your feelings about your father. I have no contact with my father and occasionally wonder if I should open that door again. My parents split up when I was 10 and he was horrible for making efforts to see my sister and I. After a few years he just quit coming around, and instead every few years would initiate contact with me through a third party (At 16, it was through my boss; in grade 12, through the school principal; when I started the job in Quesnel, he sent flowers to my workplace on my birthday). The first couple times I would go see him after he'd initiate things, but he never went anywhere with it. He did tell me that he had found it easier to pretend my sister & were dead than to actually attempt to have a relationship. I gave up on him. I'm blessed with a wonderful mother, and in my teens I actually gave her mother's day and father's day gifts a few years; after all, she was doing it all, she deserved all the credit :thumbsup2

Deborah - the ornament with all our names was bought and then I just wrote all the names on it! I really like have our family tree ornament on our Christmas tree!:goodvibes

Deb - I've got both the Wii Fit and the Jillian Michaels game. If you haven't already ordered it, I don't recommend Jillian's game. It is not nearly as good as the WiiFit. The WiiFit is much better at giving good instructions and your person on the screen better mimics what you are actually doing. I found Jillian's quite frustrating to figure out (Ken too) and we are both used to video games. The Wii is the main machine. The WiiFit is the balance board with game. Now there is the WiiFit Plus, which I think comes with the balance board now, if not its About $20 on its own, and is the upgrade for the WiiFit. The WiiFit Plus is on my Christmas list and hopefully Ken or Santa will be bringing it for me.

I'm out of time and must get back to work! I'll be back again later :goodvibes
Shannon, sounds like a fun and productive weekend! :thumbsup2

Sorry Kaleigh got sick, hope she's better by now.

Sorry about your dad....How horrible that he thought it was easier to pretend you were dead . I just can't imagine how a parent can be that way. Thank goodness for your mom! :goodvibes

:grouphug: Holly, enough all ready for you too :headache: Maybe it's time to call in some help :confused3

I have a neighbor who is an exterminator and he told me all he would do is what I'm doing....putting poison out and mouse traps all over. I'll eventually get them all. It's just a very large family that probably reproduced more than once. I shouldn't say this, but I'm feeling much better about it, sort of seems like it might be over. It's nothing like it was when we were seeing them run across the floor and on my nightstand.

Well, I survived my three late nights at work and can enjoy a day off tomorrow :cool1:

I have a friend coming to visit in the morning, so I better get to bed so I can get up early to wrap her Xmas present and straighten up the house! Tammy(my son's gf) vacuumed, cooked dinner and baked cookies today :thumbsup2

In the afternoon, I'll be going to the courthouse with my son, 1st of what will probably be many, many visits over the future custody arrangements for Serenity. Please wish us well!

Later, I should probably go and try to finish my Xmas shopping, but I expect I'll be worn out again! I have to get up very early for work on Wednesday, so I may just opt to try to get all of my shopping done on my next day off which is Friday! I don't think I've ever had a year that I was so unprepared for Xmas

Kathe, it sounds like Tammy is a keeper! :thumbsup2 Your son should keep her around!

Ugghh....going to court for custody.....I don't envy your son. I remember very well how stressful that is. Glad he has you for moral support.

The saga finally ended on a good note. John and the kid put on their theigh high rubber boots and used cargo cables and ropes and went back to the tree farm in the Beast. They tied up Suzie....the Suzuki....and went to pull her out with the Beast, but the owner brought the tractor back to pull Suzie out. With John's rope and cable ties, John said she came out easily and only had a flat tire because they snapped off the valve. The engine started right up, no problems running and driving her. She went back to Newark today for work with John and the kid, just like any other day. WE GOT LUCKY. I said many thanks because I know it was a miracle that all is well.

Then we went to Mrs. Bush's and had a good time.....caroling, cookies, punch and coffee, pictures with santa. Naturally, I forgot my camera. Mrs. Bush's employees took pictures of all the residents. I bought a recipe book and a gingerbread ornament for the tree. It smells like cinnamon. Ray was happy that we were there for him. John was able to go with me and I was very happy that we went.

ALL wonderful things Deb! :cloud9:

How's your leg?

For those of you interested, the window opened up and I just booked my hotel room for Turkey Day 2010. I'm in the Crown Plaza at the airport. Here's the linky:

https://secure.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/cp/1/en/hotel/chiok

Since they have an indoor pool, the pool party is at my hotel. Kathe are you getting a room there too? Are you bunking with Monica?

I booked from Wednesday 11/24 for 4 nights, checking out on Sunday 28th.
Look out Chicago! I'm not sure if Chicago is ready for you champagne girls! :rotfl2:

Thanks to everyone for the good luck wishes! Today was supposed to just be a conference to begin the custody hearings, but Serenity's mom willingly gave full custody to Brian! She will only have her every other weekend and they will take turns on holidays! What a wonderful day! I am truly grateful to her mom for not making this a long and painful process for everyone. I actually feel a little sad for her, but she has acknowledged that she can't care full time for Serenity, that it is just too much for her and I know this is the best thing for Serenity. It will not always be an easy road ahead for Brian, but he does have a lot of loving support from family and friends.

The bad news is that Serenity came back to us tonight and is sick and has a horrible cough  Looks like she will need to go to the doctor's again tomorrow.
WOW!!! This is great news! :yay: Serenity needs to be with family who will best be able to care for her. Congrats! :woohoo: How sad for her mom though, to know she's not able to care for her, but....very strong of her to admit that.....and at least she wants to at least be a part of Serenity's life.

Very worried about Marilyn. Sounds like they don't have any answers yet as to what happened. Very strange......and scary. :sad1: She's one of my very favorite people.

Kathe this has to be such a relief. Congrats and I know this isn't all filled with joy I'm sure there is sadness too, as a girl needs her mama too :sad1: hopefully Serenity's parents will age into a good compromise with her best interests full on in the middle.

I have watched my nephew raise his daughter Alexis (who turns 14 day after Xmas) as a single dad. Alexis needed her mom when she was little but her mom wasn't there as she needed to be(she was only 17 when baby was born) dad was 21+. We all tried to fill the void of no mama but it just is never the same. My nephew did marry another and they moved out of town a few years back so Molly and Alexis while close in age are basically strangers. his new wife is awful :headache: so we have no contact now.

Bummer all around, sorry to be such a downer.

Holly I am too, very worried. I'm glad John is keeping us looped, but I miss her chatty self :sad1: Lots of Prayers.

:thumbsup2 I'm happy that it all worked out. Good job on Serenity's mom choosing to do what's best for Serenity :goodvibes

The interview was actually a pre-interview to see if I make it to the official interviews. I think it went okay and now I just wait to hear if I get the group interview, but that likely won't be until the first week in January, so now I'm going to put it out of my mind and focus on getting ready for Christmas.:thumbsup2

The kids & I went shopping so they could finish shopping for Ken. They are so serious about figuring out what they want to get :thumbsup2:cutie::cutie:

Me too... I'm so used to saying Good Morning to her...

But she's where she needs to be... and John is there for her... and I'm glad that he's keeping us informed.... :flower3:

Well, I called my sister to let her know... she was ok with it... Brian is disappointed... but they understand and I told them how I'm doing with the pain and such.

The good news is that the ticket is on Southwest so we can get the credit for it. We just have to figure out who has to cancel, etc. I think it is a refundable ticket so they can get the refund seeing as they sent the tickets for Xmas - I figured at the outside chance, that if we had to get credit, then at least it would take care of the tickets for when we go back in June for Brian's graduation. I kind of know there will be a headache involved before this is figured out... :headache:

Update from John...

We are overwhelmed with all the messages, thank you. Yes the diagnosis pancreatitis. No cause found as yet. She is on oxygen (no idea why) blood sugar being monitored closely, no gall stones found. She ate a little ice cream yesterday, a good sign. So she is slowly on the mend.

Hi Friends, I've been wrapping presents. They're about half way done and they look like this under the tree.

Hi Michelle, Hay 1 of you FB users remind John that he needs to take care of himself too. We all know how this kind of thing can stress you out, send him and Marilyn lots of prayers and :grouphug::grouphug:
