Funny....just got this email from NCL...as a comparison....this is for the Pearl which does Glacier Bay (we went on the Star last summer...not the best ship but the Pearl is much newer)

Thanks Deborah, but we missed you and said that to each other all week

Ken & I are still debating what we are actually going to book. We'd like to do the repo from LA to Van with the first cruise to Alaska, but need to see the real prices and deposits next week to make the final decision.

I really wish Disney would just put the prices out there so people have time to think. But I guess they actually want us to impulse book all the cruises, and then cancel if we change our mind. After all, it just drives the prices up.

Does anybody know if there's a place on line to get the new floorplans for 2011 with the stateroom category changes. Is the difference between 11a, 11b, 11c just ship location?

The new ships are having a distinction in their places on board, so DCL tried to make the old ones follow the same rules...yes location location location

I'm not going to pull the trigger just yet and wait until we get closer to the final payment date, as we may have a change of heart, though I think it's unlikely. I

Me too, we have until 12/11 so I'm in limbo until then.

Jackie, Paul says "Where is Glendale AZ?" It would be towards the end of January 2010, 1/22-1/24/2010 For sure we'd try to add some time to enjoy the area/AZ

The extras....they did add up but in the end, I think it is still cheaper than DCLs prices. Our inside cabin was 2200.00 for the 4 of us on NCL and DCL starting price was 1900 for 2A. But, it wasn't/isn't the Wonder! I am just really sad that DCL chose to do TAF rather than Glacier Bay......the main reason I probably won't cruise to AK on DCL, Sawyer Glacier great to see once.

But DCL costing more is nothing new is it? It's the same as people have been saying. You can do a Caribbean or Mexican Rivera cruise way cheaper on other lines, so I'm sort of confused why there is consternation that DCL is higher when it comes to Alaska.

Aren't they proportionally the same as they are with the Caribbean and other itineraries? I'm sure we could have done our recent eastern Caribbean much cheaper had we sailed on Carnival or NCL.

Just kidding, but he is right we really don't have much of a leg to stand on when we complain about prices because this isn't apples to apples here.

I figure it's apples to carmel dipped, edged in choclate, sprinkled with jimmies apples

BUT Kaylee raises the issue of not wanting to see the same ports and I totally agree with that concept. Panama Canal been there done that, not going again.

With that I'm out to take mom to the doctor, then lunch with her and Molly, then to school to pick up the box tops for education that I have to bring home sort and cut, then take dude to boy scouts, then PTA meeting tonight.

HOW DO I HAVE TIME TO FIND A JOB let alone work a job????

Glendale is right next door to Phoenix. As a matter of fact, I can't even tell when I've gone to one from the other. I kind of think of Glendale as just a Phoenix west-side neighborhool (I'm sure they wouldn't like that).

So, that's RIGHT HERE! That's Peg's (real) birthday weekend, so I'll make sure to tell her "no out of town plans". I know she'd love to see you guys too. Since I've cancelled May cruise plans, I'll have some vacation time to play, if necessary.

I love the pics, they make me real miss the group. I really want to do Alaska too. I looked up other cruise lines and they had great ships too but we love Disney. I am excited about Europe too though. I will be going to Europe no matter what since its a class and already paid for, however Matt may come join me for 2 weeks after the class, which would mean a month in Europe for me!

Who's been to Europe? What should we see? Where should we go, we will meet in Paris since thats where my class ends and Disneyland Paris is a must but what/where else? I wish we could take all of you and have a huge party in Europe.

Effiel Tower, I know duh...How long is your trip. What do you like? Churches, shopping, food??? I loved Notre Dame and lunch afterwards accross the street at an open air cafe. Loved Montmartre. Never went to the Louvre, just too darn big for me. Loved seeing Monet's real garden. All depends on what you like Jill, give me your top 3 things and I'll zoom in better. Paul and I went in our late 20s it was I think where we really feel in love

Well I love shopping but since my major is retail and thats the class we get to go behind the scenes at a bunch of shops, buying centers, and designers places, staying in 4 star hotels. With class I will spend 5 days in London and 5 days in France. I am sure with a bunch of girls I will be shopped out. We also get city tours, theatre tickets and since I am such a huge Disney fan my teacher called Disney and asked for a tour of DLP for us. So that part is covered and will be amazing and we will have downtime to do our own thing too.

When they leave Matt will come over. He wants to see Paris and loves history, museums and things like that. He doesn't want to see London so we are thinking of heading to Italy after a few days in Paris and DLP, or should we go somewhere else? We will stay for around 2 weeks.

So I guess history, relaxing, we will also need to eat I guess idk what else. I love all the old buildings, churches and castles. We don't know where to start.

Its a great opportunity but we don't have much time to save as it in May '10. They only take the students every 2 years. (we go to NYC the other years).

Too bad he doesn't want to see London, as it's easy between Paris and London with teh Chunnel. I think 1 week in each place would be heaven.

DLP, was easy to see in 2 days for us. Nice to have a behind the scene there. Do you speak French?

I would suggest that you invest in a Fodors or Michellin Guide (might be at the library) to first see the overview of the city and then you can spread out from there.

I tend not to like to give specific resturant ideas since what is good to some not so much for another

My ideal few days in Paris would include:

Picasso Museum (it's in a house really cool)
Eiffel Tower at Sunset to see it lite up
Museum Dorsey
Montmartre
Flea Market (check what day they are open)
love riding the Metro (but I'm a public transporation freak since we have none here)

OKay, Italy, been there, loved it. I did a 10 day tour with my parents. I'd want to see again, Venice & Florence for sure. It's just too big a country to see all at once. Pick a region and explore.

We haven't been since 1991 and then we were backpacking students. But I would add Sacre Coeur, Le Louvre, Notre Dame (Ile de la Cite), Champs Elysees et l'arc de triomph.

If you like the historical parts and the old buildings, if you can get there, maybe try getting to Carcassonne. It's the city that is the inspiration for the boardgame Carcassonne and a few scenes from "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" were filmed there.

I know DCL has always cost more...and I have no problem paying more for a better cruise experience. I am just surprised that they are charging that much more for the lesser Alaska cruise. Disney is usually on top of being the top!

I rethought the whole PC cruise thing as well....decided I had been there/done that too and it just won't be the same without this whole gang on board.....so, just trying to figure out what cruises to take in 2011! Any thoughts for this lowly silver CC member (who doesn't even get to attend the CC party on board anymore! yup, bitter about that one!!!!)?

And, speaking of facebook....Jaide is now on there (with extreme parental control) to stay in touch with some of her friends in other areas. She is now playing farmville...so if any of the farmville players want a new neighbor, you can friend her and then unfriend her after you guys become neighbors.

Off to do some laundry and watch tv. I'm tired!

I would pick up a copy of "Permanent Parisians" and do a walking tour of Piere La Chaise cemetery. It is a veritable who's who of the rich and famous in the 19th and early 20th century. Plus the French developed funerary art into a high esthetic.
