Question to all you experienced WW folks. Is it OK that I don't use my weekly and activity points? I just haven't needed them yet. I only ask because I know if you cut back too much on what you eat, your body thinks it's starving and slows down your metabolism. I don't want that to happen.

Your daily points target have you covered, so you don't need to worry about going into deprivation mode.

The weekly points and activity help to make the program more flexible and sustainable. Which are important, because livability means you're good for the long haul. Managing the emotional aspects of weight loss is (I think) as important as tracking and managing points.

I attribute my reaching goal almost as much to my learning how to manage my emotional reactions to food as was my learning on how to make smarter food choices.

Deb, just want to make sure you realize your daily points allotment will decrease as you lose weight. I've already lost one point off mine. Although, as we get more and more slim, it will be easier to add activity points for important things...like champagne. I'm going to try and not rely on my 35 weekly 'bonus' points unless there's a very special occasion (like my birthday), because I expect I'll be relying on them a bit more as my daily allotment decreases.

Hugs and Kisses, Mackie

.

Yes, as you lose weight your points decrease.

Let's think about the science behind it. The plan designed to produce a safe weekly loss. As your body loses weight, it needs less energy.

But as Mackie says, you have the 35 weekly points and can earn food through activity, because of course, the activity off-sets the extra food.

When you reach goal, you go through a learning process of adding points back in and learning how to balance points and activity. But honestly, you never go back to eating as much as at the start.

However, a real positive is as part of the journey, you're learning what foods work for you, how to emotionally handle food situations and what activity is a good lifestyle fit.

It's doesn't mean you can't ever splurge, but will do so when appropriate and know how to limit it.

It starts to become a life balancing act, of learning what to choose and when to choose it.

That's why I think the journey is so important, because it's a reeducation. It's also why I feel so strongly about the science behind it, because the science give real actionable information, as opposed to mythology.

--------------------------------

On another note, I'm now about 4+ weeks into my new "natural" walking routine. I say "natural" because I've been trying to incorporate it into my lifestyle.

I'm doing about 15,000+/- steps a day or about 4.5 to 5 miles a day.

I've dropped 10 pounds, but the real news is how incredible I'm feeling. I can't remember the last time I've felt this good, both physically and emotionally and I have all sorts of energy.

I had started at 15,000 steps but work my way up to it.

love ya Mister *did ya get it sister

Deb, you can join ya know you just need to find the M in you....Meb???? What's your middle name, sorry you can't use ME that's MINE :snooty:

Maylean, Mheri, Mhannon waiting to mhEAR from mYou....man I'm weird, glad you guys get me :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

OK Nan.....I'll be Meb. My middle name is Eileen and I don't use it....just the initial. My maiden name is Debra E. Brew....initials.....DEB. Now I use DEB Fahlbusch. I just added my married name to my initials of my maiden name.

You had to be there when I was an early teenager and realized that my initials spelled my name. I screamed running through the house and blurted it out to my mom. She had no idea. It was just a coincidence. I was born on my Aunt Eileen's birthday so she used that for my middle name. I have not seen Aunt Eileen since I was a kid. She was on my father's side of the family. But I'm glad that I got her name to use coz I love that my initials spell my name.

Good Morning Deborah. I love watching American Idol. It's getting down to the top four now. I won't tell you who is leaving. I like them all. I can't pick a favorite from the top 5 this season. They are all great. Enjoy the show tonight.

It's always something isn't it. Just have a glass of champagne while watching your show tonight and everything will be all better.

Well I just found out about losing points with weight loss......today is my weigh in and I officially start tracking. But I've been eating well all week coz the food is in the house. I lost 3 lbs this first week and now I get 33 points daily.

I can see where I will have to add activities to gain more points later as I lose more weight.

Marilyn,

Our ADR is for 10:10 AM on Sunday at Olivia's.

Our flight gets in at 9:50 tonight, and then we pick up the bags and the car. My first stop is going to be the Winn-Dixie near WDW. We probably won't check in to OKW until midnight at least.

Tomorrow, we're planning on doing Epcot, but it's going to be a busy busy day.

We have to pick up our AP's and then get over to guest services to pick up our TIW card.

Also busy, because of all the menus I need to collect.

Oh, that's hilarious! We almost gave Patrick the middle name of David.....then his initials would have been PDQ!!!!!!! Well, we realized it and named him Patrick Wayne Quick (Wayne after my dad) instead. It started a tradition, all the first born grandsons have the middle name Wayne. But not the only granddaughter.....thank goodness :goodvibes

.......No... I tried on tons... different sneakers and some Tevas and some Birkenstocks... I need some support in my shoes and I'm trying to figure some things out... I have another place to try later in the week... it's in Saratoga Springs (the real one... :rotfl:) so I will run up there one afternoon...
.
My podiatrist said to go for New Balance. They have an arch support and come in widths.

I used the measuring gizmo, got my current size--not my college size--and found the scooshiest sole they had. I think it is a walking shoe, but maybe a cross trainer.

I wear them almost every day and no foot trouble if I go to something else for a while.....but my tevas are scooshy and my dress shoes are Dansko and come in widths, with a padded sole too.

I am a happier person when my feet are happy.
:) Jan

Hi Connie, how great that you started a family tradition. I bet your dad is really proud. Is the only granddaughter's middle name the same as your mom's? Just curious.

Hey Weight Watcher kids.....why don't you check in here:

.

Thanks Mackie....it's Meb here....it's hard for me to keep up with so many different threads on DIS then facebook and myspace and Twitter. If I spend too much time online, then my tivo fills up. I have to find a balance.

I will go there and check in, just don't know how often I'll get back.

Thanks so much for sharing all the good info though. I love the DIS the most and especially this thread. And Mackie, you too!
