Just checked the DCL web site and all is gone but concierge. When we are on The Magic last month Darren the CD told us this cruise was historically at 70% with many fewer children. Not true???

There won't be many kids because school is still in session.

They have been coming and going tonight. When I tried with 3 adults, only the concierge came up. I tried with 2 adults and several inside levels were available. Then I tried later and more came up for 3 adults.

However, I think it is getting close to full. I was able to add another adult to our room with no problem yesterday, so I think many of the cabins are not at capacity. Also, there was still main seating at dinner, which to me indicates not too many children?

Thanks. Can you tell me what DCL is charging for this service in LA? I can't seem to access the information in my reservation.

When I put in 2A2C (4, 0) I get 11B, 10A, 9D, 4E, and T. All *GT rates gone.

I also think we need to remember that people can put a courtesy hold on the cruise for at least 24hrs. Since a reservation has to be paid in full at this point that's a lot of money to shell out at one time.

Re-checking in... mainly want to see my signature. ;)

DW Terri and I were on the 9/16/12 Pixar Cruise (speakers Lasseter, J. Ward) in case any of you were on it as well. We've kept in touch with a couple of couples from that cruise but they won't be on this one.

Hi, I am new to this thread. Good to see the Geezers will be meeting. I joined them on the 2010 WBTA. Fun group. I will be traveling with my friend Evelyn, whom I met in 2011 on the Western Caribbean. We just booked this month & will be in cabin 6588.

Hi and welcome. Going to be a great cruise.

Are people still looking for things to do in Cartagena? We want to do a private tour and are looking for adults to join us.

Here is an overview of our tour:

From the pier we drive to the Monastery of Our Lady of the Candle, built early 17th Century on La Popa Hill, for a visit. Also from the top of the hill we will be able to take in a beautiful view of the city and the bay. We continue the tour with a stopover at San Felipe de Barajas Fortress, a military engineering masterpiece, erected as part of the defensive system to protect the city. At this photo stop, from the bottom, we explain to you about the construction techniques, dates, attacks, etc.

Then we drive towards the walled colonial city. First we take some time off at the handicraft stores of Las Bóvedas (Optional). After shopping, (if we stop) we take a walk along the quaint streets for a close-up view of the old homes and beautiful balconies, plazas and religious buildings such as the Cathedral, the Inquisition Palace; we also pass by Bolívar´s plaza and Customs Plaza, making photo stops all the time, naturally!!! At the end of the walk, we visit the Sanctuary of Saint Peter Claver.

After the walk and visit we board the van and depart towards the modern areas of the city to admire the architecture, the forts by the bay; then we make a stop at the Emerald Museum/workshop for emeralds and a drink!! This tour takes approximately 4 to 4 ½ hours.

Prices vary according to the number of people. We have 2 people so far (me and my husband) and we are looking for 4 more people to join us. With 6 people in the van, the cost will be $70 USD per person. That price includes the cost of transportation in an air-conditioned van, tickets to monuments, guide's fees and port's fees. Payment will be, in US$ in cash, at the end of the tour; and a free video copy of the tour will be given to each couple.

To get a video preview of the tour, click here: http://youtu.be/uQ0nsPNJwxQ

This tour company comes highly recommended from Cruise Critic and you can't beat that price! :thumbsup2

If you are interested, let me know. Adults only ;)

I hear ya Marilyn! We took a 7 day BTB on the Dream in October and even the 7 days seemed really short.

Welcome!:goodvibes

I see we are too late. If you have a couple drop out please let me know. Thanks. I was wondering what to do here.

I would say this is true. The other two PC cruises we went on only had about 300 children.

I'm not sure what the capacity of the ship is if every bed was filled. All the cabins could be sold, but filled with mostly 2 adults, rather than families of 3-5 people. So that would explain the a sold out cruise that is only filled 70%. There is probably a better way to explain this. I think we had about 300 on our Pc cruise as well.

I'm curious if anyone has any guesses on how much it would be to upgrade to the one bedroom suite from a 5A in port.... I'm seriously thinking about it. We are totally pampering ourselves with this trip. While I'm not willing to shell out the 14k, I may be alright with a 1 or 2k upgrade (not sure yet).

As it would depend on what category you are booked in, it is difficult to guess acccurately. However, based on Upgrade tracking thread...

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3009010

Upgrades are usually about 30-50% of the difference between what your category cost and what the cabin you want to upgrade to costs. So for instance we are in a cat 6A which had a value for two adults of $6228.44 when we booked. The Cat T currently costs $14694.10, the difference is $8465.66. One third of that difference is $2822, one half is $4233. Unfortunately there is a large range there. For the one quote in the thread listed above for the recent EBPC, the upgrade to the T was closer to the 50% of the difference than to the 30% of the difference. We were thinking about the upgrade to the T, but not at $4200 dollars. We may instead see about an upgrade to a Cat 4 instead. That would be a lot cheaper, and still gives us more room than a standard verandah cabin.

On the December PC cruise it was $3500 to upgrade to the one bedroom from a 5B cabin. I think it was $1100 to move up to a Cat 4. We didn't upgrade.

Hi fellow cruisers,

I posted the same on Facebook but would like to repeat here because not all of us are on FB, I hope you don't mind me steering slightly off-topic from the cruise:

1. Could some of you familiar with LA possibly have a look at this tour and tell me if it sounds any good? Thinking about booking it ... http://www.lasightseeing.net/Los-Angeles-Sightseeing-Tour_7.aspx

2. What would you all recommend for transportation from an Anaheim Good Neighbor hotel to LAX airport?

Thanks in advance!

FE people: Just trying to update the FE. There are still 16 cabins that haven't told me if they have a max number of cabins they are willing to take. Please let me know. :goodvibes

Sure thing. It did fill up pretty quickly - I think a lot of people are wondering what to do in Cartagena. ::yes::

I am staying safely on the ship. I said it this way cause last time I was there on I was on a Princess cruise 20 years ago when I was 18. We had solders come on the ship with their big machine guns and they were stations all around the outside decks of the ship. I asked one if the crew members why? He said it was nothing new and they are doing it for our safety. That left a very poor impression in my memory. I was very sad to see DCL making a stop there. I wish we were going to Aruba instead. Oh well. Oh and anyone who has been since, can go ahead and say how great it was, but ultimately I will always have that memory and will not take the chance getting off the ship.

I'm sure everyone would agree that that would be frightening!

Hey, you're entitled to your opinion and if you want to stay on the ship, stay on the ship! Its your vacation after all and I'm sure it will be a nice relaxing day for you.

I'm looking forward to going to Colombia - I have many friends from Cali and Medellin, so finally I'll get to see part of their country.:goodvibes

No handcuffing. Enjoy your tour. I hope it is a great fun adventure for you.

My brother spends about a month each year in Cartagena and he says it is by far his favorite port. He says the food is wonderful and he loves the people there. I guess a lot has changed there in 20 years!
