WBC questions

We are former DVC owners who generally rent points when we travel to the world. However, we are traveling with our kids and grandkids (and footing the bill) for the vacation in a couple of years. We are beginning to budget for this and have found that WBC offers quite a savings over renting points....so I have a few questions:

1. Can you request buildings? If so, are there some that are more convenient for pools, parking, etc.?
2. The height of the buildings with balconies scares me a lot. Can the doors to the balconies be locked? We will have two toddlers in our group, so a definite concern. Can you request lower floors? I really don't like heights...
3. Is cleanliness an issue with this resort? I'm not overly picky, but do want a clean place.

1. They have ended the "call ahead and request" game," but you can make a request when you check in. The resort is pretty compact and it is not a long walk anywhere. Unlike other resorts, there is no upcharge for various views -- hence many people were calling for those "fireworks views."

2. You can lock the door to the balcony. You could move a chair in front on the door. All the balconies have railings, of course.

3. We have not had a problem with cleanliness. It's as clean as the DVC resorts I have stayed at. I'm sure if you look you can find some complaints, but I don't and we've stayed there more than a dozen times.
