Ways to UNCLOG sinuses ...

OK, am I doing something wrong? I just tried this, and the water ran out my nose. I think I"m even too plugged for irrigation...

The doctor called me in an antibiotic... the ear pressure is really started to tick me off...

It won't necessarily come out the other nostril. I had to do it for several days until I really felt like something was happening, but I when I woke up in the morning, I felt the difference.

OK. I might just need to give it time. Thanks! :thumbsup2

Well, when you do it that way, it probably won't come out the other side. But when you use a neti pot, it will flush all the way through -- in one nostril and out the other. Sometimes when you're really stuffed up, it'll try to go down your throat, so you have to be careful.

I've never been so badly stuffed that I couldn't get it to go through both sides.

sinus rinse...... best thing EVER. No need for meds for me when I use it! Meds make me all light headed and screw with my sleep.

Sudafed is the only thing that works for me, but then I can't sleep at night. Somehow it stays in my system forever!

Its OK if it runs back out. Head position helps.

Do not insert it all the way into your nose. Angle the tip of the syringe toward the outer corner of your eye, then slowly squeeze the bulb so that the liquid gently squirts into your nose.

Let the solution drain from your nostril. It may come out of your other nostril or from your mouth. Repeat on both sides of your nose, using two syringefuls in each nostril.

You will notice a difference and it really will help. You get better at it after a few times. I hope you begin feeling its effects very soon!

Try doing the nasal irrigation while in a hot steamy shower. Let the steam loosen things up then irrigate...and all the yucky stuff gets washed right down the drain.

Now that sounds like the way to do it! :thumbsup2 I might try it now.

By the way I have never tried it myself, but my friend at work says this will work :)

" Turn your shower on and have the water as hot as it will go and as fast as it will go. Shut the door and wait about 7 or so minutes and let it really steam up in there. Then go in the bathroom and shut the door and the steam will help clear you up "

Vick's nasal 'inhaler', not really a mist inhaler.

DS18 swears by liberal amounts of wasabi in soy sauce (eating sushi!)

I totally agree with the wasabi. Best nose clearer I have ever used and the sushi isn't bad either.

Also use saline solution in the nose and peroxide in the ears.

OK, I finally GOT the irrigation thing this morning after another terrible night. I upped the salt content a bit and just kinda snorted it in. Wasn't pretty, but it felt like a sledgehammer hit my sinues and I feel a little better...

After a day and a half on the amoxicillin, I had hoped to feel a little better today.
