Ways to tell the kids

I'm also planning to surprise my DD. My parents often fly through the city we live in and have 1-2 night layovers, so we do lots of shuttling them to/from the airport. My mom is flying in the night before our trip to join us. I'm planning on driving Grandma to the airport and telling my daughter that we should go on a trip too after we park the car, then tell her "We're going to Disneyland" as we check in. Can't wait for the surprise reaction!

apparently great minds think alike, we are taking our DS for his second surprise trip in a year and his life to DL, and we are also spending it with Grandma (and other family members). The how/why is a bit complicated, but the trip is going to start on Christmas Eve. Because of this I don't have money for other Christmas presents, and since he is only 6, I think he still needs a big surprise. We have decided to tell him that we are going to spend Christmas with Grandma, (who lives a few states away). Then she will pick us up at the airport. He will probably recognize it since it is LAX. and fairly memorable.

We will let her tell him we are spending Christmas at Disneyland, then the next night (Christmas night) after a day at the parks we will surprise him by meeting 11 other family members (my siblings their spouses and kids, who live in NorCal) at the Goofy's Kitchen Christmas dinner.

I'm trying to blow his mind as many times as possible.

It worked out pretty well in may doing stuff like that.

Here's a video of the first time, on my trip report.

We were on a 2 week road trip thru California, visiting family in 2009. Our kids were 9 and 4 at the time, and we left my cousins house in Santa Clarita, and told them that our next stop was to visit a very old Uncle. We told them that Uncle Walt was their Dad's great Uncle, and that we were going to visit him at his house for 3 days. As we started seeing the signs for Disneyland, my son commented that he wished that we could go. That's when we spilled the beans. We caught their reaction on video, and it is priceless. We are going in 4 weeks, and they are just as excited now at ages 15 and 10, as they were back then.
