apparently great minds think alike, we are taking our DS for his second surprise trip in a year and his life to DL, and we are also spending it with Grandma (and other family members). The how/why is a bit complicated, but the trip is going to start on Christmas Eve. Because of this I don't have money for other Christmas presents, and since he is only 6, I think he still needs a big surprise. We have decided to tell him that we are going to spend Christmas with Grandma, (who lives a few states away). Then she will pick us up at the airport. He will probably recognize it since it is LAX. and fairly memorable.
We will let her tell him we are spending Christmas at
Disneyland, then the next night (Christmas night) after a day at the parks we will surprise him by meeting 11 other family members (my siblings their spouses and kids, who live in NorCal) at the Goofy's Kitchen Christmas dinner.
I'm trying to blow his mind as many times as possible.
It worked out pretty well in may doing stuff like that.
Here's a video of the first time, on my trip report.
