We are heading to WDW this July with not only our two daughters, ages 11 and 8, but our two nieces, 13 and 11, too. We'd like to surprise them all with this news, since they do not know about it yet, but I'm not coming up with very good ideas on how to do it. :confused3

So I figured I'd hit the experts here up for some ideas. :) What have you all done in the past to surprise your children?

How about a surprise "We're going to Disney World Party". Cake, balloons? Have them all open a present (at the same time) with a ticket in it.

Surprises are AWESOME to little girls!!

We have pirate: 4.5 and pirate: 1.5 and we mailed them a package from "mickey and all his friends at WDW" with baseball caps, autograph books, and autograph pens. The note inside said "Cant wait to see you in Oct, dont forget to bring these goodies with you". They were so excited to get a package from them and then to realize we were taking them on their 1st trip there.:yay:
I just order the stuff online and then got a Mickey shipping box at the PO and mailed it to ourselves. let us know what you do!!!

What a great idea! My mom waited to surprise us with the trip when we were little (I was 10, brother was almost 9) because she thought we would be too excited to pay attention in school. A week before the trip she "accidentally" left the tickets out on the side table in the living room- I was completely in denial and had to read them about 10 times before it sunk in!

I love the idea of a themed party! Why not make it a planning party, and watch the planning video and start to get an idea of their "must-dos" as well? Have an awesome trip!

We had a family get together for my birthday so my MIL (the IL are taking the family) decided that was a good time to tell because they wouldn't expect it. We as the parents knew about the trip and the kids thought we were going to go to the beach on this vacation not to WDW. My MIL put a word or phrase on 11(that's how many of us there are) 3X5 index cards. She than lined us up and gave us each a card. Each of us then read our card working our way down the line until we got to the last card. She made us start over several times so what we were reading was settling into the kids consiousness and the anticipation built up. The last time my DH, who had "We're going to Disney World" on his card, read his bit and the kids just went nuts. It was really fun and everyone was getting a chance to participate in the surprise.

A friend of mine gave her dd gift bags with sunblock, sunglasses, disney trading pins and park tickets and they both went crazy!have fun with your surprize and let us know what you do.

For my mom's birthday, we sent her on a scavenger hunt. Inside her card was the first rhyming clue that led her to present 1 and the second clue....eventually she reached a $50 disney gift card and then the main event! a letter from mickey! you an read about it in my TR. (link below)

There is an "un-offical" "Keeper of the Secret" thread here on this board that you should join. There are lots of posts about how everyone is planning their big "reveals"

I'm surprising my kids (ages 12, 11) in June. I haven't quite figured our how I am going to tell my kids yet, but I think it will be the night before, as that is MY birthday, and I figured we can have a little party, and maybe my hubby can give me the tix as my present. I don't know...I've changed my mind like 10 times!

Anyway...welcome to the KOTS Club!
