Okay, this may have been done before, but I couldn't find it anywhere so I thought I would start a new one.

What are your tricks for earning extra money to pay for your Disney vacation? I would love to hear other people's ideas........
Also, if you have any ways to save money, that would be great also!

I'll start with a few of mine:
1. Sell books, videos, cds, dvds to a used book store for cash.
2. Have a garage sale.
3. Consign my son's clothes, toys, etc. at a children's consignment sale.
4. Mow my own lawn instead of paying to have it done. (Savings=apx.75-100 a month)
5. Recycle aluminum cans.

I have found going to Walmart ONLY every other week saves me a lot because of all the things I see that I "need".:rotfl: We are cutting back on other entertainment expenses- only going out to eat 1 time a week, only renting movies every other week, doing without zoo memberships, eating leftovers:lmao:
I can not wait to read other suggestions!

Okay, here's a few more to bump this thread up.......

1. Not buying drinks or snacks at gas stations. Pack bottled water to take on shopping trips.
2. Bring my own drinks from home instead of paying 75 cents for a can drink out of the machine at work.
3. Shopping at outlet grocery stores. Where we live, I can get a loaf of bread for $1 still in date, it's the kind we eat, and would cost us about $3 at Walmart.

use mypoints and ebates.

Whenever I buy something online I get it through ebates and get a check back every 3 months. It's isn't much, but it adds up.

I don't ever buy anything through mypoints, but I do the surveys and click the 5 point e-mails. I've gotten food and gas cards for FREE!

I also save all our change in a big jar. I have taped the lid shut so no one can get into it. When it is full I open it and take it to a coinstar or roll it myself.

I stash things in my attic all year and have one HUGE yard sale in the spring. For larger items I don't wait for a yard sale I just sell them outright. For example my kids are now too big for the playhouse we have so I sold it to the pizza delivery girl who admired it. :thumbsup2

I guess that's it for "earning" money. There are lots more ways to save what you already have.

http://www.freecycle.org/

if you need something you can post for it and sometimes people have that item laying around and they no longer need it so they pass it on to you.

Freecycle is really awesome. We've been in our local group for about 2 years now and gotten some really amazing things like a leather jacket, dresser for our DD, kitchen chairs (we only bought 4 several years back when we bought new - that purchase was pre-DD!!), clothes for the kids, a tricycle, garden hoses, etc, etc - all stuff we would have PAID for, but in the end didn't have to...then we put the cost of the items in the bank instead to boost the savings for fun stuff like Disney. We've been able to give away a bunch of stuff too - clean out the closets from time to time. It's amazing what some people will take or look for in freecycle.

We dog sit out of our home to fund our Disney vacations. I used to do this to supplement income. Now that we're making a bit more, we still watch dogs, but all the money goes right into our Disney fund. We've got a house filled with pets anyway, so what's another furry friend or two?
