Hi everyone,
I'll be traveling to Disney in November, staying at the Wilderness Lodge. We have a boy turning 3 and a girl turning 8 that week. Any suggestions for ways to celebrate their birthdays Disney-style? Maybe a good restaurant that does something special? Any help is appreciated. Thanks! :earsboy:

Tell EVERYONE that it's their birthdays...I don't mean to be obnoxious, but CMs do extras and the kids love it! My DD's 8th birthday was during our last trip 12/04-she had a cookie to paint for breakfast, got the "It's my birthday pin," in EPCOT (customer service at park entrance), got a phone call from Mickey while in England, a special birthday dessert at the Coral Reef, and a Happy Birthday card back in our room at the WL.

:cool1:

My 3 year old and I got a white TShirt and fabric paint, painted... his name and wrote It's my 4th birthday!! and decorated it. He was so proud of it. We're going the first week of Sept. So.. hopefully... he'll get some special attention!

This is kind of an expensive b-day idea but you could take them on one of the fireworks cruises. They'll bring a b-day cake and decorate the boat with balloons. We did that last year for my DD's 12th b-day on the first night of our visit to WDW. It was a great way to start our WDW adventure. Even though we said it was for our DD, it was actually just a fun activity for our entire family.

I've been considering doing the fireworks cruise for our next trip as a surprise gift for DH & DDs birthdays (they're on the same day!! :cool1: ), but decided to plan Hoop DeeDoo Review instead as we can use credits from our dining plan, and it will still be something special! (and I'm planning for it to be a surprise! )

Now just to wait out the next 15 months until our trip... :rotfl2:

We took my 7 yr old during his birthday.. first thing I did was make sure to get him a b-day button in every park we went to..(customer service desk in the front of every park)we scheduled a character dinning for dinner.. We first went to MK and had his hair cut at the barber shop.. they cut it, put a temporary blue dye in it with sparkles and stuff.. the quartet (?) sang happy birthday to him...

Since he had buttons all over saying today is my birthday.. he got sang to and let in the front of the line ect all over the parks.. we do hopper passes so we ended up at 3 that day just doing the rides he wanted... He couldn't have been happier!! :teeth:

take them to the Main Street Barber Shop in MK first thing in the am - and get their hair done - pretty haido with color and sparkles for your daughter- your son could get a glow in black-light Mickey head on the back of his hair....my DD did this last year - she looked like a princess and loved the attention! It was well worth what it cost - $15, I think. The CMs here are extra special people and they make it such a wonderful experience!! :wizard:

We leave in two weeks. My younger daughter turns 5 while we are there. We have ADR for CRT. :cool1: Then she gets to control the day. We'll look at the map for MK and she gets to pick what we go on. I'll help her plan a route so we're not running from one end of the park to the other and then back again. ;) My older daughter will get a day for her to be in charge, too. We have 1900 Park Fare scheduled for her so she gets her princess meal. princess: She just won't have the birthday stuff.

I remember them doing something at Chef Mickey's for some table celebrating something special (am I specific or what???) I would let people know for sure.

We've done lots of Disney birthdays! Most of the restaurants will sing for you and bring some kind of one-person cake for free. I remember Chef Mickeys and Crystal Palace doing that for sure. Maybe also 1900 Park Fare. CM and 1900 gave us laminated placemats with character signatures. CP gave us a birthday card signed by all of the Pooh characters.

We also told Wilderness Lodge about the birthday one time. When we got back to our room, there was an autographed picture by Minnie Mouse with our daughter's name on it. It was so precious!!!

We had my older daughter's first birthday party at Rainforest so that family members not coming into the park could celebrate with us. They got us a huge table and really did things up nice. We sat there for quite a while opening presents and even brought in our own cake. The waiter even bought my daughter one of the RFC plates from the gift shop before we left. He was so sweet.

We did my husband's birthday at Tony's once. That wasn't so exciting, but I think he did get some kind of dessert or cake. I think an adult birthday was not quite as special as a kid birthday for some reason!

I forgot! We also did birthdays at Garden Grill and the buffet at Fort Wilderness. At Garden Grill, some of the characters came over to help sing when they brought out the cake. The Trails End (I think that is the name) was actually the best dessert. The cake was really big!!

It almost seems like we must have been faking it to have this many birthdays in the park, but we went 3 times for my older daughter's birthday, once for my younger daughter's birthday, and once for my husband's. And each of those times, we had a party not on the actual birthday that included family and then a small party just for the 4 of us on the actual birthday!

For my dd's 5th birthday(2001), we surprised her with a Cinderella Princess Breakfast at the castle. We went to Town Hall right when we got there and they gave her a special "Its my Birthday" button to wear. For the rest of the day, everyone treated her so special princess: I had told her we were taking her to a surprise..she had no idea what.

She was so happy when we got there because she had never met some of the princesses that were there(Jasmine was her favorite) and it was so sweet-perfect age for a princess meal!

Thanks for the help everyone!! I'm going to try and call and book the fireworks cruise for sure. That sounds like a great way to kick off the vacation. Thanks again!
