This is the first time I think I've actually posted on the Podcast board but I'm a long time listener. Just wanted to say that even though I might disagree with Shaun and Craig's review of Maleficent, I was so stoked to hear Pete come out and defend their opinion. While everyone has a right to their opinion there's no reason to resort to some of the things people were saying about the review. Just wanted to give props to Pete for standing up for his people, and to Shaun and Craig for sharing their honest opinion. That's the kind of boss I think we'd all like to work for.

No need to hide behind anonymity,

Shawn M. Brown

I have to say I was with Teresa this week. I actually teared up a little when Pete was talking. I am completely familiar with the way people are on the internet so it isn't like I was surprised by the fact people would do it. But Shaun and Craig, really? How anyone can't get the level of love and enthusiasm the two of them have for Disney is ridiculous. And seriously, how boring would it be if everyone on the podcast was just the same, or all :cheer2: everything Disney does. Maybe we should just get them to put some animatronic people in that Disney supplies all the script for...

Please everyone keep doing everything just the way you are. :goodvibes

I agree as well. Thank you Pete for sticking up for them. Its true everyone has an opinion and 5 people can think 5 different things and all of them are right. Craig's sense of humour may not be understood by all but he's a great addition to the team and being one who is sarcastic, I love that subtle humour.

Keep doing what you all do!

Great show this week. Agree with others that the defense of the reviews was wonderful.

Really enjoying JeniLynn on the show and she is a fantastic addition to the team.

I would like to point out that on the discussion of theme park attendance both John and Pete brought up that SeaWorld is hurt by the fact that it doesn't open new stuff like Universal, but last year SeaWorld opened TWO new huge (for them) projects: Turtle Trek 360 and Antartica. We can argue the quality of either attraction, but SeaWorld was down in attendance in a year they opened two pretty big things. That's frightening.

Even scarier? They were down in attendance during a year in which they all but gave away tickets through Groupon deals, BOGO offers, $50 weekday tickets, etc. While Disney and Universal give almost no discounting on tickets, SeaWorld was doing everything they could to get tickets into people's hands. How far would they be down if they were not giving away tickets for half price?

I read their "Malecifent" review and while I did disagree with many of their comments, I would never post anything negative about them. Everyone has an opinion and I did laugh quite a bit at the review. The internet is not for the weak of heart. ;)

That being said, they did invite some of that criticism with the extremely belittling title: "Maleficent" or How Disney Unintentionally Made a Hilariously Bad B-Movie

Did they really think that would go unpunished. I thoroughly enjoy Craig and Shaun's wit and hope they stay around for a long time.

1. Shaun and Craig have every right to post an internet review of a movie and say anything they want about the movie.

2. Anyone is free to disagree with their opinions, comments, conclusions and suggestions.

3. Disagreeing with a review does not equate to berating the reviewer. No one should take these things personally and ad hominem attacks against the reviewer serve no purpose and are irresponsible.

All that said......

4. The reviewer has a duty to wear a suit of armor and let certain things go. Craig's choice to engage susan the way he did was a poor one. The reviewer has to be the bigger person in these circumstances. Always.

I would stand up for, and support Craig and Shaun 100% in their efforts and opinons. Good job Pete for your show of support, but we would expect nothing less from you! :thumbsup2 But Craig was unwise to allow himself to be dragged into a colloquy that got personal. That one transgression can be forgiven and forgotten, but it can't really be overlooked.

I agree great job Pete, Craig and Shaun. I have not seen the movie yet will very soon but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Can't wait to see more blog posts from both of them.

Agree with all the sentiments here. Anyone insecure enough to get that irate about a differing opinion is just a coward. SO threatened by any crack in their "perfect" world. So right, Pete, for sticking up for Shaun and Craig. Good on ya! :thumbsup2

Absolutely unexcusable for personal attacks on Craig and Shaun, but they are big boys, they don't need papa Pete going off on one of his " look at me" rants and flaunting his checkbook with promised bonuses.

C'mon.

I'm a long time listener and viewer and appreciate the countless hours of work that goes into the podcast, but it is becoming such a laughable drama-filled jaunt when we have time wasted on defending men from the awful internet monsters.

Everyone on the Dis works hard. People are always going to criticize.

Let's all move on from the statements from captain obvious and shift our focus back to the parks.

Just my opinion.

Agree with the above. It was great to see the way Pete stands by the staff the past few weeks. You have a great blend of personalities on the podcast!

I agree with Upstate Mick on this one. I love a good Pete rant, the review was well done (can't say if I agree or disagree since I have not seen the film), but I think they can defend themselves and did fine. They are all grown up now and don't need to have the bully pulpit of a rant to justify their review.

I do agree that some if the garbage thrown at then was lame bordering on disgusting.

Funny thing...I watched the whole exchange online and did not see one instance of a personal attack. Much ado about nothing, but Pete does love his rants. People did comment that the remarks might have been deleted. Maybe so.

Craig did "sarcastically" (Pete's words) say that people who enjoyed the movie make him worried about humanity.

I did comment that I enjoyed the movie and that Craig shouldn't take the movie too seriously. Again, no personal attack. I guess sarcasm only works one way.

Craig is a big boy and held his own... funny how Pete felt the need to bring it to another level. And how quickly the faithful rang out their support.

Having a loyal fan base is a great responsibility. Please send the pitchforks and torches out for the ECV complainers. :)

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I did read the review and I didn't find anything wrong with it. It's an opinion.....and we all know that no two opinions are the same. There is no reason why anyone should take issue with it. Now, about Pete's rant......I love the fact that Pete stands behind his employees and if he want's to give them a bonus, I say go for it.

I appreciate Pete sticking for his employees. Sadly it's a microcosm of what the internet is these days. However I could of done without the whole I'm writing them a bonus check deal. It seemed like a look at me thing from Pete.

Well said Pete.

As an ice hockey referee for our local district, I remember confronting a particularly unruly and abusive father after a game one day.

"Excuse me sir, are you working tomorrow?"

"Yes....why??"

"Because I'm come down to your job and every time you do something or make a decision, I'm going to stand over you and scream 'YOU SUCK!' 'WHAT THE HELL!' 'GET YOUR (BLANK) TOGETHER!' "

He didn't have much to say after that.

Not so much fun when it's in the other foot.

Haven't seen the movie yet, so can't comment. However - opinions are opinions, and everybody is entitled to their own. I also "get" Craig's dry, "crusty", sarcastic humor, and think he's hilarious. So is Shaun, and I enjoy watching everyone on the podcasts every week, it's like "hanging out with old fiends" for me, and never fails to cheer up my lunch hours when I watch at work - thanx for getting me through many tough days and weeks!

And last but not least, I'd like to say - BRAVO PETE - I wish I thought my boss(es) would have my back the way you have your people's!! I totally admire that!!

Thanks for sticking up for your people Pete. I totally get the comment on knee jerk Disney defense.

If you want to see some ugly posts. Go over to the Theme Park board and say you don't like FP+. :scared: You just can't get a reasonable discussion.

I really appreciated a few podcasts back when Pete said that we had a right not to like it. When someone else pays for my vacation they can tell me to "shut up and be grateful". Or "Go elsewhere you aren't welcome here"
